  • one of the best opening themes of all time....right up there with Suikoden 4's opening theme (it uses a genre of music hardly used in games)

  • i'd love to see this on the Vita, with a few more (not that many more) playable characters and HD graphics.

  • Wait a second, I know that the artist for Dragon Ball did the character design, but I cannot look at Lucca without calling her Bulma.

  • While you play Chrono Cross, im going to play Skies of Arcadia along side... sounds like a great time!

  • @bballgolf72 wow, i thought i was the only one who was reminded of skies when starting chrono cross!

  • @xxIreneCaffeine I had just started after buying skies at the time I made the post. Its done now. It was very entertaining, but too easy. Moving onto Tales of Symphonia now

  • King of Guardia: "GLENN, MAH BOIII!"

  • @boontohumanity This

  • PSN just added chrono trigger and chrono cross to the Playstation store

  • I WOULD play it, but Square kinda hated Europe back then... 3DS remake / Virtual Console PLEASE!

  • @ZeroMilanmon ...? Why would they remake a Playstation game for the 3DS? xD

  • @IceMaverickCold the same reason they remade a Super Nintendo game for the Playstation and DS; it would sell

  • "If I can't talk, you can't look" that made me lol.

  • I'm pretty sure that Robot that was with Lucca when she found the baby was GATO or some other creation of hers. Funny enough, it was blue like the Robots in the Ocean Palace, despite Gato being a Reddish/Pink Palette Swap.

Anyone else think it was Gato?

  • Ahh, Scars of Time, we meet again.

  • Love this game...why haven't I seen this LP of yours yet?!!

  • .......... that was awesome

  • I still think it's bullshit that Crono was able to defeat a planet raping parasite but supposedly was killed in the uprising.

  • everybody looks like they belong in dbz

  • This intro to this game is so amazingly cool. The game may not be Chrono Trigger, but it's still pretty damn awesome.

  • the epic song is used on your 500 vid celebration video

  • havent played...but did he say 44 characters....?

  • Woohoo, chrono cross!!!!!!!!!!! "D

  • Dragonball rocked I wish I saw it before DBZ.

  • i dont kno wut the hell is this game but the animation looks beautiful and the charachters looks just like from dragon ball series

  • @NotSoMuchEmoGuy It was made by the people who made DBZ.

  • @marioskiller1212 oh,,,well that makes sense then thanks

  • what aysteam is it for

  • LMFAO I was laughing this whole ep. lol Hilarious.

  • Naked Baby!!!!!

  • yay <3

  • More party members!

  • Crono tricking Marle into marriage?

I must disagree. I think it was the other way around. Namely a 'but thou must' situation.

    Marle: Will you marry me?

    Crono: *shakes his head*

    Marle: But thou must!

  • Chrono Trigger was and is my favorite game of all time, yet I never did play CC. I will enjoy this LP. :)

  • I LOVE Chrono Cross and it's plot and it's characters especially Kid and it's music!

  • wait a minute, who's baby is that?

  • @GamesOplenty Its suppose to be the baby for Chrono Cross Continuation, like the new character XD. At least, I think o.o

  • @GamesOplenty that's my favorite chrono cross caracter Kid.

  • In that DS cutscene Glenn looks like vageta and Chrono looks like Goku.

  • Pause @ 0:55.

  • The music alone makes Chrono Cross' opening my favorite of all time.

  • I have played this game more then 3 times. I'm so glad that I picked this game up so many years ago. Epic is the words for it.

  • I love Scars of time, the intro song for Chrono Cross..... Yasunori Matsuda is awesome, just like Nobuo Uematsu. XD

  • I love Scars of time..... Yasunori Matsuda is awesome, just like Nobuo Uematsu. XD

  • I have to say, 44 characters is a pretty hefty number, but it's not as crazy as Suikoden II, which had like over a hundred different characters.

  • Bailey, seriously? Woolsey sucked. No question. Probably due to all that "Hardtype" whatnot or whatever, but seriously, characters in most Woolsey translations are pretty shallow, even in Final Fantasy VI. Especially FFIV, I mean dman, have you PLAYED the j2E translation?

  • Most overly criticised game of all time, just because mindless Chrono Trigger fanboys can't appreciate how good this game really is. Solid game of its own, knowing Kid's real purpose of the story is only an added plus. Only problem was its incredible ease. One of hte first RPGs I completed because I was too much of a noob as a kid.

  • @lecmg I can't understand why. Just two seconds ago won a copy on Ebay. Looking at the Let's plays, it looks absolutely friggin' wonderful.

  • @lecmg Kid has a nice belly by the way.

  • director:NAO!

  • MY BROTHER THINKS YOU ARE COOL

  • You have to do three playthroughs to get all the characters correct?

  • pause at 5:53 it flashes by fast

  • ahh i miss the chrono trigger LP but i just know this is gonna be fun!!

  • finally an Lp I can follow along with....god I must have beaten this game at least a dozen times......

  • Watching this makes me want to watch the LP all over again.

  • what i am thinking bailly is that it was originally supposed to be an anime from square, but they turned it into a game instead. that is the meaning of the fmvs.

  • this theme still sends chills down my spine

  • 2:55

    isn't that the bad ending?

  • no it isn't. it is the good ending i know because i went through it

  • I can't believe this LP's already over, oh well, I guess there's still the bonus content.

  • They actually try to tie Chrono Trigger to Chrono Cross. Which is odd, since Chrono Cross is supposed to be a parallel universe anyway (hence the two parallel worlds).

  • I have the chrono trigger soundtrack so i can listen to all these tracks when i i want to. it's awesome.

  • 4:26 - Well, if you play the DS version, you'll find that the translation isn't really all that different. There are a couple lines that make more sense in the DS version, but other than that, it's pretty much the same.

I think it really goes back to the roots of the series, where you find out that these are all alternate universes (or possible futures based on one of the many endings you can get, if you will).

  • I think the biggest change was that they changed Lavos from an alien being to an interdimensional being. But he still fell to the planet in the prehistoric age. But because of the distortions in time and space that he created, it pretty much establishes that the series revolves around alternate universes.

  • And what you're going to find out is that Chrono Cross is one of those alternate universes.

  • Actually, I should probably say alternate timeline. That would be more accurate.

  • Now That Was Epic! A Brilliant introduction you've made here, showing what exact point we last left off.

I have to admit that I've never played Chrono Cross, so I'm going to finish my Chrono Trigger DS with all endings, then play this one as I watch your videos ^_^

By the way, the Intro of Chrono Cross reminded me of Baten Kaitos in it's epicness... Have you ever played that game, HCBailly?

  • wow you brought muzzy into it.

  • the characters look like dragon ball

    Same artist actually.

  • Awesome game. It's one of my favorites. ^^ Sadly with the 'Chrono' games I could never get all the endings. xP It was too hard for me ^^;

  • in 2:35, is that Kid?

  • i always knew lucca was a pedophile! jk btw

  • the characters look like dragon ball

  • @zhaoyun100 it's the same designer

  • CT: Crimson Echoes should not have been pulled off by Squaresoft, it actually would have been a good connector game to this game from Chrono Trigger. The guys weren't even doing it for profit either, it was a fan-made project. Why does squaresoft order cease and desist orders to people developing Chrono games anyway, but not any other of their games?

  • Hey look Vegeta dyed his hair green... Oh its Glenn. My bad

  • wait this game only takes place 20 years in the future what chrono lucca and marle could get off there ass's to save the world

  • where can i pick up the game

  • I actually played Chrono Cross before Chrono Trigger, and I do like Chrono Cross better myself...

But your right that opening track dose rock.

  • Comment removed

  • SPOILER!!!

That baby is Kid in Chrono Cross!

  • I realized that a long time ago and was too lazy to take off my comment. thanks for replying so that I can remove it. ^^

  • HCBailly, I thank you for doing a let's play of this game, for i had never heard about till you started this, and as you said in the begining to pick up this game and play along. I've never been more happy that i did. Thanks again!!!

  • how did you pick it up

  • Ebay, i got it for about 20 some dollars

  • damn it

anywhere else i can find this game

    SOMEONE TELL ME PLEASE

  • Is it bad that I've never played this game? Granted, that may have something to do with it NOT BEING RELEASED IN EUROPE ;_; but that's not a valid excuse in this day and age.

  • @LimitedRegicide yes it's bad :) it's one of the best games out there

  • Um, are you ever gonna play the Text Adventure game that actually bridges the gap between the two games?

It IS translated, you know.I can't remember the name off hand. Something Dreamers, I think.

  • Marle was just enjoying the moment HC! I bet your fiancee might do that... I don't know, I've never met you guys in real life! Awesome opening for the series!

  • animation reminds me of dbz X.X

  • thats cuz the guy that made dbz made this.

thats also why chrono looks like hes a dbz char

  • the only thing that saved CC was the music CT pawns CC by far CC is a good game but the plot changed to much foe me

Chrono trigger is the game that made me a harcore RPG player sin i palyed that game over 13 years ago i have loved JRPGS of late JRPGS have gone down hill but iwll stand bhind JRPGS as the best genre of game Ever

  • anyone notice that the glenn in the extra ending of chrono trigger has long hair but the one here has short vegeta hair

  • . . . . . FORTY FOUR CHARACTERS!?!? @__@

  • soundtrack

    /watch?v=J46RY4PU8a8

  • Well well. Frog is back in human form. And sorry to disagree, but I think he looks awesome with green hair.

Either way, could you PM me telling me what the tech is that you won't be able to get? I don't see how or why you won't be able to obtain it....

Anyway, since I'm positively GIDDY with excitement: ON TO THE NEXT VIDEO!!!! :D

  • Holy shit Frog is Vageta with green hair.

  • Ohhheehhmmmgeee! I LOVE Chrono Cross! I've been waiting for this LP Series!!

  • The intro song is definitely, IMO, the greatest intro music to any RPG ever.

  • I've beaten this game so many times... I still haven't gotten the director's ending, though.

Also, I love the way that in the FMVs, they show Glenn with having short hair while in his game sprite in one of the endings, he has awesome long hair.

  • He cut his hair.

Note that in the scene, the king was an old man, while in the game, the king was in his thirties.

  • Suprise were getting married WHAT!!!!

  • When I first played Chrono Trigger back in the '90's, I never imagined that Crono and Marle would be a couple.

  • I didn't know Dalton came back... Blast that little punk...

So, how did he steal the Masamune in 1005 A.D. if it was with Frog/Glenn in 600 A.D.?

  • The sword became a national treasure. After Glenn became a national hero and died, the sword was returned to Guardia. Or that's about as much sense as I can make of it.

  • Ah...

  • So where is the sword now? And how did Dalton, of all people, get out of the void? Was it the Mekkio Star (That's how Garlic Jr. escaped the Dead Zone in Dragonball Z).

  • The rest of the LP states where the Masamune ended up, and it's VERY pivotal to the actual plot of the game, so I'll shut up about that. As far as Dalton escaping the void? Just take it on blind faith that he found a way out.

  • After some thought, maybe what happened to Dalton was similar to what happened to Serge. Maybe the Dalton that came back was a Dalton from a split off world where he won the fight. Or it could have something to do with his exposure to Lavos's power while living in Zeal. This would beg the question: What happened to Lucca, Marle/Nadia, and Crono? Nothing is ever said about them.

Another theory: Lynx is Dalton? I haven't played the game so I'm probably just grasping straws here.

  • Lucca, Marle, and Crono are covered in the 3 part episode "Fate Beckons". As far as you other theory, I can't say it without doing massive spoilers.

  • I can already tell this LP will be spectacular ;D

  • HCBailly is my hero

  • My wife wishes she was Marle, a princess married to a man that can't talk.

  • @RadRetro

    LOL!

    good one!

  • @RadRetro

    I lol'd!

    X'D

  • Kings are always old bearded and a little overweight

  • I don't think this question is worth sending a message, so I'll just ask here: do you think this game is as polarizing as FFVIII? It seems like with that game, you either want to destroy it, or write a scary, pornographic fan fiction for it.

  • Not true. I played through half of FF8 and got bored, but by no means hate it.

(But I am a big fan of Chrono Cross =D)

  • Wish this came out in the UK. Mabey Square Enix will do a DS translation sometime.

  • I heard that they where going to make a third game called Chrono Break. Unfortunately, that game game never got made.

  • I think this is going to be good...

I played the Chrono trigger but never Chrono Cross, but the opening was pretty good and with your good and funny commentary HC I think this is going to be a very interesting LP.

  • holy s$@# you pronounced rydia right

  • Hey good timing HCBaily, its the CC 10th birthday soon!

  • yey

  • heh beaten it... oughtta borrow it and play it again though- its still one of the greatest games of all time... or at least for the PSX IMO

  • I honestly think if SE ever makes any more Chrono games, they should make sort of a split path thing branching off of Chrono Trigger and what the different sequels will all have to do with Chrono Trigger will be slightly different.

  • Ever notice the playable chars have green/teal eyes.

  • I think this is a good game and I happen to like it, though I don't think it's great and I acknowledge the flaws this game has. I do, however, have a rather strong dislike of Final Fantasy 7. I guess everyone has different opinions.

  • I think this game was good, but I think I was disapointed with the fact of wondering what happened to Crono, Luca and Marle the whole game as I thought for sure they would be playable charecters.

  • TUNEAGE!!!! I love this tune!! And HCBaily i think i'll play along with you :D

  • the difference was akira toriyama. thats why chrono trigger is one of the best of all time and cross was just a footnote to trigger.

the only real upside to this game was that they got yasunori mitsuda for the score. this game maybe has some of the best game music of all time.

  • What about the balanced combat system and magic system, over I think 32 characters you could recruit.

  • I like it when you explain leveling/ability-learning mechanics

and Ive never played this game

  • There *is* another game in the series amazingly enough. A sequal to Trigger, but it turned out to be a text based adventure on the SNES and kept in Japan. It was called "Radical Dreamers" and included some of the Cross characters like Red, Viper, etc.

  • Y'know somehow, despite my overuse of Wikipedia, I've never spoiled any specifics of this game. I know a few things and theories on connections to Trigger but on the whole the game is a mystery to me.

With all the hype, this game better be pretty freakin' awesome (joking, of course. I'm sure it'll be good).

  • One question MAN.... How is Chrono Cross related to Chrono Trigger?

  • Kind of...loosely. It looks like it's supposed to tie up a few loose ends, but the catch is it also opens up plenty more leaving you going "That's nice, but what the heck is going on over there?"

  • there's a couple little things and obscure characters that they use to tie the games together.

in reality its about as related to chrono trigger as final tactics is to final fantasy 12.

  • Curses, forgot you were starting this. Oh well, blind is warrant enough to still go ahead.

  • I think HC could play one of the worst games ever and still make it entertaining..though maybe video after video of "What's wrong with you?!", "You got me on this one, viewers..", "Sure! Why not?!" and "GAME!!" would wear thin..eventually.

Now, CC is a game I really wanted to play some 10 years ago..but never got around to doing so. So now, I get to watch HC expertly play it..and wonder what could have been.

  • 44 Characters? Sounds fun. =D

  • Chrono Cross is under-appreciated. I find its lack of grinding incredible refreshing in the RPG genre, but I would have liked a bit more difficulty in the fights. Can't have everything though...it was and still is a great game.

  • Can't wait for this one, the first LP of yours that I myself haven't already played or ruined the story for. For once, you can cliffhang me, and it will actually have an effect.

  • Oh yeah CC is one game where the plot can go over your head if not really looking at it. Great game though easily competes with the Playstation FF games alongside Legend of Dragoon(got CC and this at same time).

Be looking forward to see what setups you be using element wise.

  • Will you have to feed your kitties again?

  • I loved the game. The storyline was great, the music was at par with Final Fantasy 6. My only problem was the final boss... and that's something the other viewers will have to see for themselves...

  • the first lp of yours i saw was final fantasy 7 and i thought you did a fantastic job on it, you mentioned at some point during that lp you would eventually do chrono cross and i was looking forward to that, chrono cross to me as a certain kind of charm to it thats far far different than chrono trigger. i never beat the game but i think i might do as you suggested and play along with you, could be fun. thanks for making such enjoyable lps.

  • kinda sad that chrono and marle died from the invasion of porre

  • Love this game. I played it before Chrono Trigger, so it was completely new to me. It stands alone very well. It's almost as good as Chrono Trigger-- but the soundtrack is possibly even better, and it's still a top 10 game for the Playstation.

Also, Time's Scar is probably one of the 5 best videogame songs ever. Docjazz4 did an awesome collab cover of it.

  • So, this is both the main LP and side LP?

So... HC it's expecting this one to be a long one! =P

  • I've attempted playing through this game a few times and I keep getting stuck fairly early on so I may play along with this LP so that I can finally finish the game.

  • YES, I've been waiting for this one. Just finished it myself for the first time so I'll be interested in how you'll handle things like element allocation and character usage.

Also particularly interested in how you'll handle a certain EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING boss towards the middle of the game. Christ, that guy wrecked me so hard for the longest time.

  • I...like alot of stuff about Chrono Cross more than Trigger.

    /me runs away

  • I just started a run of this myself. I'm curious to see what characters you'll use for this playthrough.

  • I can't wait, HcBailly. I'm a big fan of Chrono Trigger, and I've never actually tried Chrono Cross. So, depending on how interesting this game looks, I might try it out.

  • It's a great game (and one of the few games that I think really needs a sequel), but it has very little to do with Chrono Trigger. Just don't be surprised when you see what I mean.

  • Yeah, I've been told.

  • Just to let you new guys know, this game has nothing to do with Chrono Trigger. At all. There are cameos and nods to the game, much like how there are nods to Xenogears in Xenosaga. But overall, it's a totally different storyline, with brand new characters. It's still a great game though, but I don't want you to feel bait-and-switched when you see it.

  • And the responses to this video lead me to believe that alot of people are going to feel that way by the end.

  • Time's Scar FTMFW

  • I cannot wait for your Let's Play Chrono Cross eps!

  • It's about time Dalton got his comeuppance! For whatever reason, when I was like 12, he was my favourite character...everyone else can have Magus, for me it was Dalton all the way!

  • Excellent set-up with the "Lets play Chrono Cross" as the words pop up on the screen.

  • no way...i love this game but my friend borrowed and moved. seafog

  • As someone who has played and enjoyed Chrono Trigger, this game does look interesting. I may try it out if I ever find it.

  • YAAAAY finally HCs doing Chrono Cross!

  • Great start.

The opening movie's more epic than I remember.

  • The theam of Crono cross reminds me of the theam of FF Crystal cronicals.

  • he'll probably make like 210 parts of this game for real!!!
