  • @Defenda44 its a demo tank.

  • Its probability a demonstration tank, so its decor isn't the best. Also I find hand scrapper to be better and cheaper.

  • @Defenda44 goldfish dont need corals but i agree he needs to get more decor to make the fish feel more secure

  • 1.21 gigawatts!

  • kkk umm

  • wtf? the fish dont care about the algae?

  • i use a credit card 2 scrap my tank algae.it works brilliant.

  • use credit card, it works much better. that magnet will end up scratching your tank glass one day, if a tiny piece of rock gets stuck under it.

  • ahhh what a loser.....

  • or you could just get some kind of pleco haha

  • thats crap the better ones are cheaper they have magnets both sides of the tank so you dont have to put your hairy arm in it

  • Will the long handled algae scrubber used in the corners affect the silicone any? My 10 gallon tank in getting on in years and I keep thinking if the silicone weakens or is scraped off that the tank will bust. A fish owners worst nightmare to come home to a broken tank and dead fish all over the floor.

  • thing that bothered me is on a tropical tank you have a heater

according to the instructions on the box of a heater you have to have it switched off 15 to 20 mins before removing from the tank.

i would not be removing it but the water level would go down and the level would be past the heater

so... 20 mins heater off time + 1 hour clean tank time + at least 1h30 mins heating back up to optimum temp = 2h 50 mins

is the fish going to be ok in all this time?

  • ive been having a problem with nitrites, and im getting a peacock eel, whitch ive heard were delicate, and i want them to go down faster. 2 of my live plants just died so that might be the problem. so, any suggestions besides getting live plants(im doing that soon)

  • @Defenda44

So true lol; the guy seems like he doesn't wanna spend $ on the fish cause he even complains about 8$ for an algae scraper which by the way aren't you suppose to scrape from outside the tank?,,..geez poor fishies

  • some lakes with fish in it have even less stuff in them^^ i dont really think fish are intellegent enough to really care, yeah but i would still put some more stuff in the tank.

  • ITs a gift and a curse....personally I blame God

  • *high five*

  • To the fish that moron is Satan and that algae scrubber is his pitchfork and the aquarium they're in is HELL

  • I'm not watching a Gicko ad before I watch your stupid video.

  • how do i clean my sand

  • I'm pretty sure that a regular gravel cleaner should but the job as it only just manages to suck up any food bits so heavy(er) sand shouldn't be a problem :)

  • there are certain creatures that do the job although i am not sure what creatures exactly.

  • You could use a gravel siphon. But if the sand is too fine it might be sucked up as well. What I do is employ sand cleaning fish. No, they do not go around with brooms or mops and stand up signs saying: CAUTION WET GRAVEL!

The stay on the bottom shifting through the gravel looking for food. In doing so they also disturb the small particles of gunk that do not go through the sand as its so compact. THen the particles are sucked up through my powerhead filter.

  • Some great examples are cory cats which stay small and peaceful. Kuhli loaches which burrow into the sand also make a great job. As my good friend pondguru (owner of a magnificent fish store in UK) says: Horseface Loaches are the daddies of cleaning sand.

  • what a guy eh not

  • not this guy again!!!!!!!!!

  • its called a plec not a pleco

  • This guy is a dumb shit......... I have watch maybe 10 or 15 or his videos and he is a douche bag......

  • how is this guy an expert?

he is a dumbass the whole point of the magnetic algae scrubber is to not put your hands in the tank.

  • of course your hand goes in the water how else would you get it inside the tank and how would you clean it, i have had lots of fish so i know how to clean a tank and this guy is right

  • it's not a magnetic scrubber.

  • I bought this fish yesterday that eats all the algae and stick to the glass and sucks it all. What's the name of the fish?

  • Pleco duh

  • algae eater probably or sucking loach, if its in a tropical tank, pleco

  • holy shit $8

  • plecos are actually one of the worst fish to buy for the sole purpose of an algae eater. they mostly produce large ammounts of harmful ammonia and free load by not doing much of what their name suggests. but they are perfectly fine fish if you like how they look and somed like the zebra plecostomas are extreamly beautiful fish. but of course, your fish may vary.

  • they are a waste of space and i have noticed when they are young (less than 3in) they do a great job. They are all over the tank eating as much as they can. Once they grow big, they just lazy and really inefficient.

  • can you tell me where to buy a cheap fish tank??

  • ebay

  • I got a ten gallon with everything you need but fish at petco. It was $39.00. But it was labeled at the wrong price so >.>.

  • on petco i got a 20g tank for the same price

  • too much algae can kill your fish!!!

  • Ok, i saw another video by expert village on how to clean algae and the guy said that algae can stress fish. Now this guy pops out saying that fish don't mind it. What algae is he talking about?!

  • maybe green.brown bluegreen algea.

algeas like green and brown, and stuff doesnt stress fish. Most fish likes green algea. schrimps, for example.

  • Oh ok. My tank had green spot algae a while back, and i was hoping for my snail to eat some of it, but it turns out they don't eat that particular algae.

  • Most snails wont eat algea. but i think some do.

  • actually I put two "mystery" snails in my tank and it has been spotless ever since. I'd suggest for any size tank at least one snail, they are about $1.50 and they can add great color and eat any left over food on the ground, plus they clean the walls of the tank as well!

  • look out as mystery snails will breed. If you spot something lightred that looks like balls or whatever, that will mean young mystery snails.

  • how do they even get in you tank?they annoy me in every way possible i had 2 about 2 years ago and it turned out it was a male and female the next month my tank was infested with those snails

  • those irritating snails, often hides in plants as small eggs. then the grow if you overfeed, your fish. Try the Anatoma Helena snail(eats snails) or clown loach :)

  • thanks ill try it out later

  • Well you are cleaning the tank, but you're doing it wrong.there's supposed to be 2 pieces, one with the scrubber goes in the tank and the one with the magnet goes on the outside where you can harmlessly scrub the insides of your tank without plunging your hand(s) in.

  • you my friend.............are a dumbass.......

  • i actually could see any algae hahaha

  • fishies:)

  • uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuum get it in the corners ummmmm

dame dude just chill and stop saying uuuuuuuuuuummmmmmmmmm

  • i'm confused, i can't tell if that is saltwater or fresh.

  • does that look like a saltwater fish in the tank

  • its freshwater, why did you think it was salt? jw

  • Oh Christ. This was embarrassing to watch. Honestly- I'm going to put up my own maintainence video just to actually give other fish-keepers a worthy picture of what "tank maintainence" really is. First off, if you have algae, either you haven't replaced the tank lights for over a year, the room gets too much light, you never turn the lights off, or you never do your weekly 10% water changes with vaccuuming 1/3 of your gravel bed every week. You fix something by treating the problem, not symptom.

  • thanks for the info, but what do you do with saltwater tanks? i'm getting my first saltwater tank going today, i'm getting a lionfish =]

  • vick fan, join reef central, or similar marine online forum.

what size tank are you getting? their are a lot of things that you need to know before setting up a marine tank, if you join reef central, just cruise around and laern for the first few days.

do you know about cycling, live rock, ph, alk, calcium, kalkawasser, corraline algae, trickle filters, protien skimming, metal halides, and iodine?

if not, i am guessing that you will need to do some major research before jumping in.

  • i have a 60 gal. tank. i already got everything set up and my lionfish is enjoying its new home home. i stayed up till 4am that morning researching. I got everything settled now. Thanks for the helps though

  • how long was the 60 gallon tank set up?

good luck, what kind of lion fish?

i've always liked them, majestic fish. varacious eaters as well. did you hear about their proneness to developing fat deposits in their livers? one of their main COD's.

  • the tank was up 4 days before the fish went in so it could be the right temp. and have enough minerals and nutrients I have a Red Scorpaenida lionfish. And no, i did not know those things, now i do =] lol.

  • only four days!

vick fan, please, hear me out.

look into the nitrogen cycle, and cycling aquariums.

    please join reef central.

for the sake of you fish.

you see what will happen, is their will be a sharp rise in ammonia (which is deadly to fish) then as the nitrosomonas bacteria converts it to nitrite, it goes back down, only to be replaced by nitrite, which is just as deadly. then nitrosphrus bacteria converts it into nitrate, which can be removed thorugh adequate filtration.

  • um.... i didnt understand a word lol but my fish is healthy =] i followed all the directions that were recommended to me

  • Dont worry i bought my fish same day i set my tank up and didnt lose any fish through the whole cycling process!!

  • Yeah, had my lion fish in for about a month and a half and its still alive but my other tank where i kept the live gold fish, all the fish got ICK and they all died, one of them was actually a pet, mom actually cried when it died, we actually named him Ronaldo, after the Star Soccer player for brazil.

  • unfortunately, you seem to lack the knowledge to be considered worthy of informing the masses on how to care for living creatures, no offense.

you do know that algae grows when presented w/ three things. nutrients, light(of any kind, though the k rating of some enduces cetain algae growth) and water.

i can see that, but i fear that you may be running with certain, less than notable, falsehoods.

you talk about treating the problem, not the syptom, but water changes do exactly that.

  • errm ok not sure what he was thinking the night before

  • Oh Christ. This was embarrassing to watch. Honestly- I'm going to put up my own maintainence video just to actually give other fish-keepers a worthy picture of what "tank maintainence" really is. First off, if you have algae, either you haven't replaced the tank lights for over a year, the room gets too much light, you never turn the lights off, or you never do your weekly 10% water changes with vaccuuming 1/3 of your gravel bed every week. • this guy is a retard

  • you do not have do you hands in water

  • what your argumant is founded onm is a bit of a misnomer.

the oils on hands, as long as they have beeen freshly rinsed, are not all to dangerous for fish in the trac e amounts they will be in.

ps. trace is less than 1 ppm

  • WHAT A IDIOT...............

  • I hate magnet floats, they dont really work for me.

  • your gong to have to use this bigger tool LOL

  • what R u DoiNg?...

  • this guy is on drugs...

  • and whats wrong with a sponge :/

  • dude you need to use a mag float because they are alot better and you dont even have to put your hand in the tank.

    thats what i use

  • lol they like it =)

  • do alge fish like the fish that eat alge get along with other fish

  • yea they wont touch your fish. Plecostomus can get big over time up to 2 feet, they dont have teeth but the ahve a spiny sail on there back so no fish eats them. Depends what fish you have though

  • I saw a Plecostomus attack a fish today...then it got jumped by that fishes' friends. It was hilarious. They put the Pleco in check.

  • Generally they do, even with the aggressive ones like african cichlids etc.

  • of course, you should never take the fish out of the tank. When i clean my tank, I take out 30% of the water then just use an algae scraper to clean the glass.

  • well then how do u get the fish poo out

  • you use a siphon hose. Just dig up a bit of gravel and then the siphon hose will suck it out into your bucket.

  • use a siphon hose.

  • maybe u should rub that magnetic alge cleaner on yourself it looks like a pretty bad boy..
