  • does it have intercooler? i cant see it? if no...does it get slow and overheats in heavy ,slow city traffic????

  • I really like that! It still "sounds" like a Beetle, but probably goes like hell. Very well done.

  • what set up to choose always i see the same question i would left the same answers

If you are doing something that involves dells or webbers90.5mm92mm or 94mmthey all have the same price.go with 94mm if something smaller is choosen later you will want more, so for once and all 94mm and if you can afford a 82 or 84 mmcrank .if you want fuel economy go with mexican efi and mexican engine. They have a bigger camshaft better flowing heads and intake soft and pleasant to drive.

  • Im going to put dome 48 Ida Webbers on my 1302s with the turbo piping work like yours do you think that will work you have idf's dont you?

  • @JJMontages 48 IDA's are some fire breathing carbs, best left to N/A engines. IDF's would work, but you need the throttle shafts bushed, aswell as other necessary turbo mods done so they dont spray fuel and dont seep pressure. Dellorto's are a better base carb to start with, but are getting harder and harder to find. I dont beleive there are too many (if any) people who have modded IDA's to work with blow thru turbos, Im running 36 DRLA's with stock venturies, 7psi low boost High C/R

  • @cal63look Oh i see :) Thanks alot Realy helped nearly just bought some Few taa i used to have delorto's But i sold them and now im proper gutted!

  • @cal63look Oh right i see thanks for getting back to me, Im gutted because i sold my dellorto's to a friend last year, Cant exactly buy them back because his bug caught fire and he sent the hole thing to the scrappy! Along with Recaro seats Ragtop roof original And a Swamp cooler. because it was an old beetle they scrappers thought it wasnt worth nothing so they cubed it :@!!!!!! Anyway i might Just go the non turbo route with the ida's or just copy your set up. :) What is the Bhp?

    Cheers

  • im from monterrey mx and to date they still have vws in the old bodys but with fuel injected enjines...i was going to buy 1 there but after talking with some family they told me that they wont let me cross it over and make it american.....but i got my bug anyway hear in tx its a 76 so im satisfied...

  • Sweet ride man. How much did the whole setup set you back? Did you tune the fuel injection? If so how tough was it? Thanks ahead of time. Looking to squeeze something similar under my deck lid.

  • So is it easy to make a setup like this?. For example, I have a 2002 fuel injected bug with no modifications on the engine. It runs well but sometimes I would like to go a little faster. Is there anything I can do to improove my engine but not with too much add ons? Thanks man, really nice bug.

  • @imfercho Being you have a newer watercooled beetle their alot different. Most common performance upgrades for motors are I/H/E combo (Intake, Header, Exhaust) Those are generally the first steps to gaining more power from the factory setups. If you want to go turbo It would just be easier/better getting a turbo bug to start with (being the factory produces new bugs with a turbo already in them).

  • @cal63look no, really is a bug. In Mexico they started being fuel injected from 1993 to the last edition 2004. Check out any video here in youtube and look at the engine. Looks almost like the carburated one but it has alternator, electronic starter and instead of the carburator has something with the oxygen sensor which I don't know how to call it in english.

  • hi what plugs are you running?

  • so have you had any problems with that setup? I really like the hideaway turbo kit from CB performance. Trying to figure out if you would recommend it or not.

  • @BONK2011 No problems! I would recommend it over a Drawthru setup. It tucks nicely under the decklid. Functions very well.

  • @cal63look Sweet! Thanks a lot. My motor will be a bit smaller, like a 1641 or 1776 but awesome. :D Thanks!

  • My stock body and interior 1960 turbo vw weighs less than 1700 lbs with me in it and half a tank of fuel! Thats why they kick butt, not only that but the ability to make 400-500hp (more with aftermarket block) AND put it to the ground (cause the engine weight is in the back)!

  • @MegaMarshal

go look at the Red Baron on of the fastest VW's out there. No hondas beatin that.

street light to street light --theres not many things faster than VW's

  • @rumpleshortsshins Well said.

  • I do respect for your project, and the work you have done on it nice job man!

But to everyone that's looking to build something that go's FAST. Try building a Honda engine there cheap, and they perform like a god!!! And to anyone who thinks they can build one of these VW engines to outperform, your simply in denial, do to your passion of the VW!

  • @MegaMarshal

I dont know what kind of fucking rock your living under.

But its obviously a heavy one.

  • @MegaMarshal

I have yet to see the following out a back halfed honda:

    7:98.

Also, good luck on trying to make an 11 second Honda N/A running at only 9.5:1 CR, with out a VTEC system, EFI, or a FUCKING RADIATOR you fucking retard.

  • Sweet work man

  • all i can say is that " YOU INSPIRE ME" no matter what other people say , keep up the good work. what your doing is keeping us bug lovers striving for more.

  • I hope you cut out 4" holes through the wheel well's to gain access to the Intake bolts and Spark Plug.... Makes LIFE A WHOLE LOT easier... plus you can torque them bad boys... Looks great

  • are you getting at least 165+ BHP ? I have a small mouse motor 2276 cc @ 140 BHP and had the turbo stolen at then had a mild 195 BHP , but finally went to a single DRLA since the other was damage due to theft . and only get 38 MPG on the Highway ,but no Turbo still looking for used parts:::: not new since had a valuable lost ,ouch! this time to be more cost effective:: happy zoom zoom vroom >^.^<

  • BEAUTIFUL!!!

  • HOT DAMN! i wish my bug engine looked half as good as this.

  • well it runsss. does it drive?

  • The worst part about those old VWs is that if you get hit in the rear, your engine is destroyed and if you get hit in the front, your knees are the "crumple-zone".

  • Do you have any overheating problems with this set up? Can you drive it on a daily basis? I'm planning on putting this type of set up on my bug but since I live in a very hot place I'm afraid of overheating.

  • How much power are you getting out of this thing?

  • i've a w110 engle cam, and in the future I'd like to put a turbo...What do think about it? my cam is good for a turbo or will be influence to much in the regulation engine's slow???My carburation are twin solex 32....its so nicer your project...Tks

  • Why this is the rout i plan to go! what is the best forum on Samba or shoptalk where i can get the knowledge for turbo prepping my dellortos? also i have dellorto 36's and found the turbo prep kit from cb (45mm DRLA Turbo Rebuild Kit) Will it work with 36's???? Also would any junkyard tubo's fit on the cb header? THanks A bunch!

  • absolutely amazing!

  • how many fed's$ do u have under the hood and where did u get that neon green dress up kit

  • about how much was the cost for all of this?

  • what a beauty!

  • Hi, I was wondeirng if you could answer a few questions for me... How does the blow-through setup control fuel? what kind of carb prepping is involved? Also how do you return the oil from the turbo when it is down below the sump? thank you in advance, that is a great looking Bug you have! Keep up the great work!

  • You have to run 2 new fuel lines, one for fuel in and the other is for recirculating the fuel. You have to use a boost sensitive fuel pressure regulator. Carb prep is easy with Dellortos. New rubber neorprene top gasket, viton tipped needle/seat. Turbo emulsion tubes, modulator rings. The oil drains by gravity, it drains into the modified oil sump. No issues with draining.

  • sounds sweet how horsepower are you making?

  • What Cam you runnin in that? sounds sweet..

  • Engle 120 with 1.25 rockers

  • Race that cooper!

  • NICE, I hope my 1955 turns out good, It wont be turbo but does have a bunch of go fast goodies. I'm working on a turbo type 4 as well

  • well im using that same cb performance system but mine is efi 1914 cc 9.0 :1 cr runing 43 kpa of boost around 6.3 psi and easily went into 14.9 et at quarter mille but have a lot of tire slip need to get those hp into the racetrack. WHAT ET are you runing the quarter mille?

  • I only took it out one time to the track, Un tuned and the clutch was slipping down the whole 1/4... Best time was a sad 14.7et with a very terrible 60ft time, also because i let off the gas a few times for the clutch to grab again. Tires wouldnt even burn out, lol. I do plan on easily being somewhere in the low to mid 13's,

  • well done the engine looks really good

  • Nice work indeed!

  • what engine do you have in that? what size turbo and set-up did you go with? I really really love the sound of the motor and like how clean the turbo set-up looks.
