  • Is it just me or is that chinese reporter chick relatively hot?

  • I like this documentary because the reporter has "partial" unprecedented access to certain key locations. It is very unlikely any other documentary will have such a rare insight of DPRK.

  • I respect North Korea because of their unity within their leader and their love for their country.. But the government is still thinking only for their political views not for peace and creating a two great korean countries.

  • asian girls are so hot

  • What is strange is that only a generation ago, these countries would have been quite similar; not to young Chinese, North Korea is just as surreal and removed to them as to anyone else.

  • @xingfenzhen what is the name chinese hostess/narrator?

  • As much as I'd love to visit North Korea, I think I'd be too stressed to enjoy it. I'd constantly worry about who's watching me, what I'm not being told and whether or not I'm being treated as a guest or potential threat.

  • This video false! I north Korean refugee! stop tell false lie to people whoever make this video! My suffer in north Korea! I lived in the city 신의주. You want to know more north Korea? Comment me! 김정일과 김일성은 사람들을 리용하는 것에 대한 즉각 사과하요!

  • @bablado0157 You lived there?

  • ㄱ

  • for some reason there is a "!" just beside the cc and i can't see the subs.

  • @aslacuentayya

I don't have that problem. update flash maybe?

  • I wihs the best for north Korea ! God bless your country for peace and love ! I dont like the MAINSTREAM MEDIA from USA it is not free it make more propaganda and lies in the world !

  • This shows Pyongyang better than Western Documentaries

who are completely biased filled with idiot people inside the Documentary

including insults to their tour guides and asking them questions that can endanger them.

  • eng sub ??!

learn to use the CC feature. see my replay to MrPhoenix1313

  • end sub ??!

  • Right side of the stereo sound doesn't work :/ how can you enable mono sound in YouTube? That you could also hear sound from right side of the headphone or speaker.

  • i just realized i'm lookin at a chinese documentary on north korea.

is like watching stalin's propaganda movies about hitler

  • @19dec1981 The Phoenix Channel is a privately owned news and entertainment channel based in Hong Kong, there are not run by the state, unlike the ones in mainland china. Then again, mainland Chinese television are also privately owned, but the people who own them are high ranking party members.

China is nothing like north Korea, however, media censorship is very bad. The phoenix channel gets censored alot due to their pro-democratic stance.

Democracy is slowly developing in China.

  • @KJB56 thanks for the explanation. i'm aware that things are changing in china. quite fast.

i was just joking. i mean about 20 years ago this kind of thing would've been impossible

  • @19dec1981

I don't know, the video was originally mono, but for some reason youtube decided to use this one side type encoding.

  • @19dec1981

u can't compare modern China to a compleate shithole NK

  • @19dec1981 Weren't Stalin and Hitler not sworn enemies during WWII? Did USSR play an integral role in defeating the Third Reich? Phoenix TV is independent and based out of Hong Kong.

  • @19dec1981 stop antagonizing us east Asians. we are human, just like you.

  • @19dec1981 at least neither china nor NK are invading other countries raping, torturing bombing and murdering millions of innocent civilians. Obama's Nobel Peace Prize is a complete joke

  • u have cream of sum yum guy with dear leader

  • what a farce:-(

  • Why don't they show the concentration camps???? Hypocrite mf's. People are starving in that country, are not allowed to travel even within the country, totally isolated from the rest of the world, people getting locked up because someone of the family 'have say something politicly wrong, they cannot have cellphones. They're just locked up in their own poor and brainwashed country. I wish the Americans and the rest of the world would get in that country and change the whole situation.

  • @Didac1111 America tried that already...it just wound up inciting the Chinese to send some 500,000 troops down and literally routing the US army...they managed to push back a bit and after the US lost almost 40,000 people they managed (barely) to accomplish literally nothing. The borders wound up almost exactly where they already had been before the war. I have my doubts they will ever go over there again unless NK actually attacks SK or the US...it was a complete embarrassment last time.

  • chinese presenter is so cute though

  • The Western world is largely denied its own cultural and racial identity. It, therefore, looks at hatred upon those who still retain their identity, their culture, and political systems which flow from it. NK, with its emphasis on the 'leader', is a tradition in many societies. They do not have a 'closed' nation. You are more than welcome there. Just respect them and their way of life.

  • @Kolob360 i hope culture is important to the 2 million nkoreans in concentration camps

  • @Kolob360 yeah, because that's why the western world hates NK. it's because of their culture. it's not cool enough!

north america is a melting pot of other cultures, so they can't exactly pick just the one culture to represent their whole country. then there's EU which is full of culture.

  • @Kolob360 the usa has beef with nk for a lot of things, but culture is not one of them. it has more to do with nukes and south korea.

  • I am a little disappointed about this video. Because the phoenix TV only reflects the small parts of life in the North Korea. Actually, the video only tells us about the life of the top class of people in North Korea. What about the rest of the people in North Korea? We never get to know. I prefer the video of National Geography. There are more facts in that one.

  • Obviously, the footage from the DPRK parts other then Pyonyang is illegal, and you won't see any. Yet, I'm thinking that the job of media is to provide whatever info possible, not to speculate, which was exactly what they did in NG's documentary

  • how do i visit DPRK ? is it possible ?

  • fuck dictator Kim jong il

  • PERFECT SUBTITLES, few errors, THANK YOU SO MUCH!!

  • The dog of the West Japan is there, nobody's surprised, but it is worth noting that the China seat is empty as China is not keen to join these dirt countries in chastising North Korea.

  • They could get a younger and better female presenter too, although she's not totally that bad.

Anyway the Chinese perspective on North Korea is always much better, more interesting and more objective than that that of the chauvinistic and uninformed imperialist diseases of the West.

  • heh, old trams in Pchjongjang are from Prague, where were into service around 30 years =)

  • This is sooooo awesome to be able to see. The contrast in style to the American and British documentaries is astounding, and frankly welcome. Also, that reporter is hot. Like, really hot.

  • ...Fuck....Are North Korea and China allies?

  • @JPacheco91 of course, their governments are the firm allies. but the Chinese citizens look at NK just poor and delayed. China gives money and security to NK, NK gives back its rich natural resources to China. since the Koreans are traditionally so stubborn and tough people, i think it's not easy to break it. SK and the USA govts need to cooperate better with the Russian and Mongolian govts than now. otherwise it's impossible to make it change.

  • @JPacheco91 Not necessarily allies, but definitely friends. The governments were started very closely together, and have always maintained amicable relations. Remember these are just government relations, and not individual relations between the peoples.

  • nodealitallx4nodealitallx4nodealitallx4nodealitallx4

  • Interesting perspective! The Chinese reporter is cute, I wonder if she likes chorizo?

  • All you dumbass commenting about how this documentary is just propaganda and China have no journalistic freedom didn't even watch the documentary and just say crap before you know anything about who make this documentary. This just prove how dumb you guys in the west are, you guys watching CNN and Fox are feed propaganda everyday so you are the one to talk. And for your information this documentary is made by Phoenix which is base in Hong Kong, which do have media freedom so watch b4 u talk.

  • @xrey2000

    you clearly are a dumbass

phoenix is from Hong Kong, but they do a huge amount of sucking up to please the chinese government to let them film in mainland china

  • we americans will see the end of north korea....the are attention seekers...if they mess with us with their nuclear..they will get thousands in retaliation and that is a game over...........the worst regime in history of mankind, dictated by a fool called kim jong il

  • @kayzeemoschino

if you don't count the american government

  • @kayzeemoschino

Laughable oratory from stupid, fat and ugly Amerikkkan imperialists as always.

Get the rfid microchip in your brain and shut the fuck up?

  • man, that place is fucked up

  • @weeleon81

But not as f***ed up as americans

  • It is funny how Westerners are getting pissed off because the Chinese tourists did not look for poor people to film. This documentary is about the culture of North Korea. Besides, tourists from ANY country that goes to North Korea are followed closely by North Korean guards and they can only film things and go to places the North Korea guards allows them. Is VICE's documentary of North Korea any different? Besides one focusing on politics and one focusing on culture, no.

  • What message were YOU sending to the North Koreans with your extremely obese camera man and your western outift? I found the trumped up 'nuclear crisis' quite thrilling. Yeah, I bet the folks not in Pyongyang were talking about that very issue over their cook fires. I also immensely enjoyed Henk Weltevreden, in the role of a lifetime, as the "Useful Idiot". Classic!

  • typical propaganda bull shit u could expect from the chinese

  • @dodoboy1212

    i have seen much worse

  • of course they are nice to chinese.... kimg jung considers china his bigger brother.

the devil kim jung.. life is a test of 100 years or having power and when time is up the devil will own your soul.

  • A "documentary" in it's purest form is an objective window into a particular topic. Whether a documentary or propaganda is just a matter of the slightest margin of "interest." The Chinese doing a valid documentary on ANYTHING is quite silly. When a Chinese journalist says, "we were asked to stop filming," and they portray their concern that their journalistic freedom was thwarted, it's nonsense. They have no journalistic freedom in China either! They are just "playing" the game of HUMAN.

  • @uAfooLOL China has no journalistic freedom. dude, things r gradually changing. communists no longer can do whatever they wanna do as before.

  • Fucking idiots, those are all propaganda created by that feces of a human being known as Kim Jong Illness. Fucking piece of shit need to die along with Hu Jin Tao.

  • Fucking idiots, those are all propaganda created by that feces of a human being known as Kim Jong Illness. Fucking piece of shit need to die along with Hu Jin Tao.

  • I find it funny that everyone expects all documentaries to have the same Point of view? There's nothing wrong with showing another aspect of north korean daily lives.

  • @lordangelic There is, however, something wrong with ignoring the glaring injustices that the citizens/prisoners on NK have to suffer every day.

  • @NaMgKCa and how are they ignoring? The places they have been allowed to access as a media crew are "propaganda zones" designated by North korean authorities have relatively higher living standards compared to the rest of the country. They are merely showing what has been showing to them, do you honestly think "great leader Kim" would allow any media crew to show the imperfections in his "socialist paradise"?

  • @lordangelic Erm... Maybe you should seek out more documentaries about North Korea on YouTube. They all seem to at least mention that NK is an opressive dictatorship with Kim Jong Il and his father ruling over the NK people as gods. This isnt a bias opinion, it is fact. I wish it wasnt fact. I wish the people of North Korea didnt have to live like prisoners even within their own minds but they do and to ignore it is to offend anyone who cares about the truth.

  • @NaMgKCa yeah I know that, I am just saying that the media crew were only showed the well-to-do areas, so they couldnt have reported on more destitute areas, after all, this is a documentary, they were supposed to report on what they had seen with their own eyes..

  • @lordangelic No commentary on any of it other than how lovely it is. Please, stop talking to me now.

  • @NaMgKCa k, I respect your opinion, but you responded to my comment 1st :/

  • this documentary is one of the few that I have ever seen on the country that shows the country in any positive light.

  • I would love to be SLEEPLESS IN PYONGYANG with that hot chinese reporter...

  • @guentherstoll lol, my ex was a HOT Chinese Reporter, I was so silly to get rid of her....

  • @chrisliu07 how could you do that ???

  • @guentherstoll U know, shit happens

  • @chrisliu07 I guess...

  • not a damning word in it!!! china's just as bad as dprk as far as freedom of the press goes

  • @themanbearpig ...let me guess...American?

  • Wow, I didn't realize how completely Phoenix TV has become a Chicom media outlet. This "documentary" is the biggest blowjob to the DPRK I've ever seen. Watch it, though. Then watch "Welcome to North Korea".

  • This movie has its own perspective.

In the eyes of the united states, North koreans are very sad since they weren't allowed cell phone or internet under the laws of south korean.

  • N. Korea is not as bad as the evil american CNN said it is

  • @Chaodragon07 i think north korea is worst than you expected

  • @lizard151103 hehe it is worse

  • lol all very glossy and friendly . but where are the skeletons each countries have their skeletons so this IS Bias media

  • nice movie,but where is a translation?(subtitles)

  • @MrPhoenix1313

enable youtube captions. (CC button on the bottom)

  • @MrPhoenix1313 CC button

  • @MrPhoenix1313 learn Chinese.

  • this is such socialist propaganda... Chinese people know how shitty north korea really is... tourists go to Dandong to peek at North Koreans as if they were zoo animals...

  • the sounds isnt balanced.

  • nice. apparently the chinese were able to do a much better documentary on north korea

  • I'm an American if you aks me what life is like in North Korea I would say North Koreans and Cubans are tought that employees in Capitalist countries are apid onnly 5 bucks an hour and are much much much lkess rich than they actually are.

  • @LegendKnight93

which is damn true right now.

There are many many people in US who gets paid maybe less than 5 bucks.

Some are in huge debt. Some are minus even.

  • Having been to the DPRK twice I think this is a very valuable contribution. This is very much what I experience there.

  • Plutonium cost money to build bombs and he need also

to grow is fourth biggest army in the world

  • The farmers are forced to legally grow Opiu and the electricity is cut down often

to save money.People starving and sended often to gulag for silly reasons.

In fact is not too much people around out there.

  • The characteristics are similar to Hitler style - but Kim Jong is smarter. He he learnt from his mystakes and is waiting until ready to start a nuclear war.

  • Is a military state and as such is developing to such a stage until ready

    for expansion

  • thanks for the subs.

to be honest though i found this was very biased and kind of glorying north korea.

  • thx for a great upload. hope this one don't get deleted as everything else that doesn't seem to fit our western world =(

  • Well, I just start working at a new company, will upload other parts later. there is also a 2007 documentry too. This one focus on DMZ and areas around NK, the other one focus on mainly in Pyongyang.

  • @xingfenzhen please send me the link to the DMZ one. great job.

  • hello! thank you for adding with outstanding video! it's very interesting to have the chinese point of view about North korea! the film is great but i would like you to add the others parts! i can't help watching them, it's so interesting and it help me for my studies as historian! thank you

  • all subtitles are now complete

  • @lordofslinthring kkk... i think the real Chinese point of view about N. Korea is concealed behind the dialogue~
