  • It's very difficult to play? If you are going each tile is broken in pieces Like that ..? (Translate by Google) :D

  • I'd hit that with a crowba.....oh, so he is.

  • wow :)

  • wow amazing !!! i didnt know of such capabilities in source ! great !!!!

  • Bf3 destruction.

  • im making a dynamic terrain map, so hard on the dinasuar engine but still possible, like i said im dreaming of source 2's possiblitys

  • fucking cant wait for source 2 if this is an almost 7 year old engine... think of what source 2 will be like...

  • Source FTW!

  • Физика на высоте

  • PFFT. just turn it to func_physbox then chop it up LOL jk

  • fake ddm im guessing :)

  • Thats what the next gen "source" engine needs, destructible environment. like proper destruction, I don't have a good example, but more advanced than red faction 1.

but it will have to be caped, you can't destroy the entire world.... that would be silly. but def full holes in wooden shacks. Like imagine in HL2 EP2 when your fighting mass groups of enemies when that cool music plays, there could be multiple wooden shacks there which could get bullet holes all the way through, and then fall down.

  • @ibainesy I remember Red Faction1's destructable environment. Did Red Faction2 also have destructable environment?

  • @ibainesy You mean like Battlefield?

  • @Marnik701 havn't played battle field

  • this remember me... Serious Sam 3 xD

    i dont know why

  • lmao is this the why how you do your bathroom?

  • Has better physik engine than CoD

  • @turoexe No shit

  • @turoexe cod doesn't have a physics engine it uses havok which is bad

  • Add some dust and it'd look hella amazing.

  • Wow, that look awesome ! Good job !

  • This video shows up everywhere. Its alright, but not good enough to take over

  • Source engine is still awesome :D look at all the epic stuff you can do with it even on slower computers :)

  • Dude! Save the user! Make those gibs fade after time or go static! D:

  • this engine looks for a good FPS games I wish that I would be able to make an engine :3

  • at the screnn i think it was a minecraft map :D

  • Now, see...

This would be possible without tricks in the UDK. Source is fairly outdated engine-wise, and it's kinda sad that Valve keep pawning it off as something high-tech.

Still, much love for Valve and Source. One of the best low-end engines out there for hobby developers who don't have a lot of resources.

  • @Metroid225 no.....just no. look at cods engine the only good engines right now are frostbite 2, source, cryengine and unreal engine 3

  • So is it the tile just changes, emits particles, makes a sound and spawns peices on the ground?

  • This is one of the......

This is the only redeeming quality source engine has :D

  • Try the pie!

  • are those pieces gonna remain on the ground forever? Or do they have a timeout?

  • MUST BE FOR EPISODE 3! DX

  • Comment removed

  • I'm gonna try this.

    In my bathroom.

  • you should work for Valve man :D

  • Modeling tools are completely unnecessary. I've done this in hammer alone using the clipping tool and physboxes that start silent (not moving).

Make them not collide with the player and you've got non-laggy fake DMM.

  • @matt10394 Non-Laggy? With a Windows 8, 8 GB Ram, and 2.2 ghz Quad Core its not laggy

  • @Blue2becool When you build a map, you have to keep in mind that someone with a single core 1.3GHz processor, 1GB ram, and a Integrated Intel 4500M Graphics chip-set will want to play the map too.

You have to go for looks and optimization at the same time.

  • wow nice !

  • Source if wanted, could look as good as Cryengine 3.

  • @DaMasterSarge or like idtech 5, Cryengine 3 has realtime lighting and "realtime" radiosity. Source does this prerendered shit with its shadows, only model shadows are realtime.

They have made light with realtime shadows but used rarely. Portal 2 did this and did it well, even with the low shadow volume.

  • @DaMasterSarge Cryengine 3 is a good engine, but using it feels like using Win XP Ultimate, it does everything you tell it to do, but it has no comfort that you know its working hard to produce what it does, but source is like a Win 7 PC trying to do something really hard, it might not do it as well as the XP, but boy its fun as hell to use. But anyway, I hate PC's, I'm a mac!

  • @lukeme99productions Depends on what your making... I'm still trying to find out what engine I should use for my new MMO, I was thinking Source, but I don't wanna pay copyright to Valve.

  • @lukeme99productions mac? the only games u can play are valve games how would u know about cryengine? unless u also have a pc

  • @DaMasterSarge it is good as Cryengine 3 but still if the protagonist gets the legs and the body it will look awsome

  • @DaMasterSarge the reason they dont is because they want everybodys computer to run there games without causing it to explode like a mini sun

  • @DaMasterSarge Maybe even Cryengine 2!

  • @DaMasterSarge it needs to work on a little cryengine 3, unreal engine 3,frostbite 2 they all look great uncluding chrome engine but it need some time to work oni think half life 3 may come but when they modiffied the engine o maby it wont becuse valuve cant count to 3

  • @DaMasterSarge But, it would kill someones computer. The potential doesn't matter if no one can play it.

  • @DaMasterSarge problem is. The source engine is too heavy, with better graphics. Otherwise they would.

  • nice physboxes

  • So is this how valve made the Portal 2 smashing bits?

  • Could You Release This As A Public Mod Resource? :D

  • @glados360

    sharing is caring

  • @gtamikesvideos You gotta share, you gotta care! XD

  • Sir , what did you use to make this kinda aswome phys ?

  • @AncientTerra

Maya (modelling and texturing), 3ds max + rayfire tool (fragmentation and animation), The animation of destruction has being played by trigger (when you shoot it). It has also different variations of animation (randomly played)

  • @kyb6kyb6kyb6 Do youi know where i can get it free ? or just idk 1 of them for free ?

If so i will Gladlly subscribe .

  • @kyb6kyb6kyb6 How do you make the model explode into thousands of small pieces like that, without having to compile all those thousand pieces one by one?

  • @2009MachineGun

Source engine supports up to 128 pieces (bones) per model, so every model can consist of 128 pieces. In my case, every tile is one model, with 3 different animations that being simulated in 3dsmax and randomly selected to achieve "originality" of neighbor tiles.

  • @kyb6kyb6kyb6 so i basicly just gotta make 1-128 pieces in one mesh, then add a bone to each piece in the mesh, then animate the bones / rig? Like npc's and stuff?

  • @2009MachineGun

yes, but with RayFire tool it automatically add bones to every piece (After simulation, of course). Rayfire can use physX engine to simulate destructions\explosions, every simulation automatically turns into animation, that you can export to SMD.

  • @kyb6kyb6kyb6 Have you ever trought about making one big destructable map?

  • @TheSisisspore

Yep :) .But I'm working on my little project for now and too busy to accent my attention on destructible map.

  • @kyb6kyb6kyb6 If you finish that 'litle project' and want to make one big map again, I wan't that to. One big destructable map :D

  • lobby scene

  • Sweet! :D
