who was the guess never u mind who care ...JOHN MAYER IS ON THE SHOW WHAT A TREAT david letterman could have done with out the guess it should have been a long jam session 2 MILLIONS THUMBS UP ON THAT ONE IF IT WOULD HAVE HAPPEN.. ANYWAY JOHN MAYER IS ON THE SHOW THUMBS UP ON THAT
1:56 this is right when heavier things came out.. and yet he plays a riff very similar to i don't trust myself (with loving you), which came out three years later.
@MrBearmanification ah, hence the old love he sings when they come back from commercial. nice. thank you for the most insightful reply i've ever gotten on youtube. (seriously) I'm going to watch that other video now, much appreciated.
@guitarguy123212 he hits two strings all at once and bends them. That's how I'd describe it. Generally it's his fingers and a lot of practice that produce this amazing sound .
@huzza18 okay, kinda like when you mute a string in front of the one you're gonna bend and then hit both I assume? Or does he let both ring. who knows, it's freakin john mayer :P Thanks!
@guitarguy123212 let them both ring and bend them all together. When you bend bend the high e-string, try to catch the b-string on your way up. That produces that sound. You just had to watch SRV play . He did that same thing a lot.
So I wonder if the band learned his songs prior to the show because if they improved "no such things" they are crazy! Not the songs hard but the chord changes are wierd!
i dont care what people say about john mayer or how much of an asshole he is or whatever. i love him and his music. no ones going to warp my idea of him. hes golden :)
@ragingstorm33 (I accidently pressed Thumbs Up, Not that I don't agree with you, I just don't agree with you completely hah) Anyway, you are right that his sound is jazzy, ESPECIALLY his acoustic stuff or what some would say his pop tunes. If you (I dont mean you literally) look at his older acoustic work, YBIAWL/Daughters aside, a lot of the chords and progressions are based in jazz; they're much more complicated than people think and he only gets credit from musicians people who try and learn.
@ragingstorm33 As for Blues/Strat work, he very much sounds like SRV, especially in recent years. Ive seen JM twice and Im seeing him a 3rd at the end of April. He played Voodoo Child last year in August, and it was very much SRV inspired as far as licks and tone go. "go listen to /watch?v=Pphe3SPtyUQ. now...go!!!" Haha I'm only poking fun, but seriously, here is footage from that concert, I think you'll agree with me, if not, I respect your opinion completely! If the link fails its by Zigabid
John Mayer is one of the few NEW people with real talent. I just wish he wouldn't "share" so much private life stuff with us.....stick to the music, Johnny!
@bjhMus1C it isn't a big deal to me neither but just thought it was funny as to me it sounds like he did pronounce "the". Got a nice laugh out of it.. =p
ashton kutcher oh however you spell his is probably like, whats that annoying thing in my ear... oh thats just 7 time grammy winner john mayer aka the best guitarist of my generation
@wagstaff11 I only know two versions: the original by Donny Hathaway and the jazz version by George Benson (john mayer play this version at the video)... Love it... Hugs from BraziL!!
What I love about this is that, I'm sure, he just was invited to play with them and basically went in almost cold having no idea what they were gonna play, and came out playing amazing like at a concert
I sure would like to get a peak at his collection. Well over 200? Don't really know. His artist model has a bigger neck due to the fact as what SJCrjPWNSS pointed out.
@hailmary7283 It's called "No Such Thing". Thats definitely the song, i believe it was his first major radio hit, i could be wrong about that part though.
haha kutcher is finding it hard to enjoy the attention mayer receives. Its alway better to be the guy with the guitar.
