I bought a metal detector last year and a local park is so far where I've mainly gone metal detecting. So far in the few times I've gone I've found $2.19 in coins out there just in one or two spots. I think most of it has been pennies, nickels, and dimes.
I have some problems with my back, but would LOVE to go out metal detecting. Do you know of any fairly light, but decent metal detectors?? I would love to take my granddaughters out metal detecting with me, are any of the kid's metal detectors even useful, would hate to buy them expensive ones if they end up not liking it.
@trbacon The Garrett Ace 250 is a good one. I've been using for four years now. Fairly light, easy to use, good depth, good iron disc. and when swing is slow it gives good recovery speed nulling out iron. I love it. Although I'm looking at higher end MD I will keep this one.
If you ever get down to Central Florida, look me up, we will go on a hunt together. There is some great old woods with an old house I am not wanting to go in there alone LOL
Even though I knew this, I had forgotten about the trees and check out my video of the gold ring I just found Saturday at the base of a tree. I almost didn't dig it as it was giving me a ghost signal. Thanks for reminding me to check the trees. I owe you one :)
Great video... You put it together nicely... I'm new to the hobby, I just bought the whites mxt pro... These videos from vets like you inspire me... That's again...
@diggindaddy u dont need a permission on public places like beaches,parks and so.but here in germany you need a permission for hunting on school yards.dont know if you need it in the usa.greetings from germany and Happy Hunting
I have a Ferrous/ Non -Ferrous Metal Detector (Radio Shack). While detecting at a local park the buzz would be on high sound, then stop, indicating there's something there. When we dig, there's nothing to be found. The meter gage would mostly be on number 4. Help! What does this mean!
I used to give up on them bigguns, them wild high signals of something deep untill I dug up a 213 oz pallisite meteorite which sold for $12,800 on ebay.
Great Video Dimeman thanks for the great tips about the Parks and Tot Lots. I'm doing more of that so I'm sure that your tips with lead to more finds. Thanks
Hey Dimeman, Great tips, espically the asking on Senior citizens, the others were common sence to me im still abeginner tho, Thing is, most of the Parks in my part of the UK have Rubber Foam under all the Swings/Slides etc, Bummer! But its all good in the open areas, 5* HH
Fun hunt thx

funny how that mulch was disturbed prior to finding the quarter??
broanny 1 year ago
@broanny
Guess you didn't watch close enough under the coil when I first got the quarter signal. The mulch wasn't disturbed.
After scanning the signal a few times, I moved forward and moved the mulch with my foot to mark the spot, so I could get the target.
Next time--- I will show my ragged old tennis shoes move the mulch in the video, to prove that I found a clad quarter in a totlot. ;o)
