Texas gave us Waylon and we will forever be grateful for that. As far as Texas today, piss on it. I agree...everything is bigger in Texas....even the assholes
and everyone i think of texas as the home of texas because in almost all "true" country songs they mention texas not nashville and by the way by true means the real country singers as willie nelson, george strait, johny cash ,george jones and a whole bunch of other people
Well...i love waylon, the best. But dont be pigeon holed by stereotypes. There is awesome hip hop, speakin truth just like true country and nothing like pop. Hank sr. all the way to Jones and Jurrasic 5. Its roots music. Gotta love America for freedom of expression. Dont like pop? My advice is to not feed parasites and raise your glass to Bob Wills.
It's a cryin' shame. A bunch of damn suits dediced to kill country music. Makes me sick, and that's coming from someone who works in radio at the tender age of 23. Disc Jockeys often times don't get ANY say in the playlist. Hell, I don't care if they quit making country music, we've got enough gold from people like George Jones, and Waylon Jennings we'll get by with what we have in the archives!!!!
@strukhoff DAC has written LOTS of great country songs and does justice to the ones he hasnt(Steve Goodman)He even did a cool collaberation with Darrel Abbot from Pantera called Rebel meets Rebel. Not too many country boys could pull that off besides Hank3 but you probabely dont like him either.
Word Up~* to Washin+on D.C. hoss you've finally got it made.. o'le George~* made it here..Were'all SURE that BOB WILLS~* Barack Hussein Obama II~ born August 4, 1961) is the 44th and current President of the United States.YE$ SIR I call that a Bargain the Be$+~+~* UOOP$, Now +his~* i$ what gave U.S. is the idea to come down here.(and your goveRNer betta b +here +his Time jackssss) +his~* is a song about a guy that PROBABLY DID AS MUCH FOR OUR ECONOMY as Anybody, Well~+~+~*
Take it away Leon. Who would believe that both Bob and Wiilie would both be from the same small Texas town, Abbott. I love that twin fiddle intro to Faded Love. It may be the most mornful sound in music. Between Bob and Waymore we had a lot and lost a lot. Their music and spirits will endure as long as there is Texas music.
@john9944 Bob Wills was born in Kosse Texas, east of Marlin in 1905 and was raised in the Texas Panhandle. Willie hired him one time to play a dance around Abbott, but he never lived there.

@criptolith I disagree. I think its huge for a band like the stones to pay tribute to an influence that is completely out of theri genre. Waylon did not know it but he was so much more talented than bob wills and that idiot whooping in the backround, thats its not even funny. FUCK even hank Jr is more talented than bob wills. You either like that texas dancehall sound from that era or you hate it. David Ball is better than bob wills and hes got the dancehall sound.
@ibcannonball Bob Wills was talented, maybe not the "best ever", but he was an innovator in country and western music. Things he brought to the genre are still used today. Sounds he brought, songs he wrote. His influence will outlive both of us and then some. That is what makes Bob Wills the "King". His bringing twin fiddles in and a big band sound with a country flavor that folks could dance to. It made people want to get out of the house and go have some fun! Can't argue with that!
YEP I AGREE BOB WILLS WAS MY DAD'S FAVORITE BAND! MY Mom use too tell me he was always down in the bars listening too BOB WILLS & THE TEXAS PLAYBOYS:) KINDA OF NEAT HUH:) DJ
