Wow. Hey, if anyone reading this follows the teachings of John Piper, he is a good man of God, and let's give him the benefit of the doubt on the Rick Warren thing. Let's all pray for our brother John, and let him know we love him, and trust his judgement.

Apparently the only people who aren't false converts are the ones Friel and McArthur have converted (how many is that, btw?). As if either of you are wholly qualified to judge the heart. That's a God thing, to put it plainly. You are my brother's in Christ and are precisely what is wrong with portions of the church today, driving away more people than you lead to a saving knowledge of Christ. I guess that's how you know who is "really" saved. You beat them up with legalism and see what sticks.

MacArthur is right on. Exactly what Scripture teaches. how could you if you are Christian and know the truth if what scriptures says, say that MacArthur was not stating what scripture says. You can't. That is not legalism- that's just a cop out many people in the American church today use so that they can continue living like the world. I looked at the purpose given life book some years ago.

it was legalistic for all its avoidance of the things mentioned in this video.

So i threw it out. . . . . . so that was MacArthur?: he wants to terrorize and drive to despair. he would be keen to crush people under their guilt if he himself has never been crushed under his own.

Very good advice. Discernment is so important when reading any of the so called" "self help" books. Make sure that you're not putting self ahead of God like so many of that genre of books tend to do.

In Matt 5 vs 17 -20 Christ says He did not come to destroy the law but to fulfill it! Mark 7 : 1-23 commandments are found in vs 8-10 & Matt 15 1-9 shere Christ speaks to the Pharisees. Another place to look @ Mark12: 28-34 Love the Lord your God! In John 8: 1-12 Christ told the woman caught in adultery to go sin no more! You really need to go back to the bible & ask The Holy Spirit to reveal to you the truth. He is the Spirit of Truth & cannot lie. Please do read your bible.

@ solapower4100 I am assuming you are a christian & thus read the scriptures. I would suggest a re read of the Gospels according to Matthew, Mark,Luke & John. I did a quick check & came up with a number of verses where the law was used to convict ppl of sin.

Consider Jesus counseling a rich young ruler in Matt19:16-22 also see Mark 10:17-22 see also Luke 18: 18-23. Matt 5:17-30 speaks of @ least 2 commandments " You shall not murder & You shall not commit adultery.

@WaterTheSeed well I have read and watched many wotm videos and propaganda. it seems to me there are giant loop holes in there theology, such as the above stated and "the law must be used to convict sinners" , and 1 out of 1 die. along with ray speaking at a prosperity conference, the night line debacle,(I wont use scripture than quotes scripture first chance he gets) let alone being on tbn etc....

there is no specific verses given to establish what they preach.

but yet there never is scripture, to back up there belief but when questioned it is always read this or that, as a christian we need to examine all that is said.

apostasia , aphiēmi ,egkataleipō ,kataleipō are all the grekk words for forsake (or -en or -d)

metanoeō is the word for repent, which means to change ones mind not to forsake to entirely different concepts because IF YOU COULD FORSAKE YOUR SINS than you would be able to be saved by the law.

and speaking of the law where does the bible say YOU MUST use the law to convict sinners?

The bible doesn't actually say that you need to repent to be saved. It does mention repentance on many different occasions, but that is due to what happens if someone really becomes saved. How can a person repent if they don't know what they're repenting for? If someone dosen't understand the gravity of what Jesus Christ really did on the cross?

Jesus Christ saved us! And we have to believe in HIM Repenting helps, but repentance does not secure our salvation.

Nowdays, "repent" is always used as "repent of your sins". Is that what Paul said? No. In context, God use to wink at idol worship, but now commands ALL men to change direction (repent). Turn from anything we worship more than Christ.

Jesus did it all for us. After the resurrection, Jesus GIVES repentance (Acts 5:31) We add nothing to His finished work.

MacArthur isn't being the almighty decider -- he didnt' say he knows who is saved and who isn't, and has elsewhere said that only God can decide that. He simply criticized PDL for declaring people to be saved in an unbiblical way.

Wretched is awesome. Let the truth be told! There are many false teachers of the Gospel as Jesus said would deceive many in the last days. Our fulfillment of life will be in heaven. Jesus said if anyone wants to follow Him, they must first deny themselves and pick up their cross and follow Him. Jesus spoke to Nicodemus about the requirment of being born again. Thats what repentence is. Being born again means we put to death the old sinful self and are born a new spiritual person. That's what repentence is. We turn from our old sinful desires and turn to God. The old self dies and the new self in Christ is born. (Thus being born again). He may have not used that word but he was speaking to him about the act of it. Being born again is the result of repentence.

Nicodemus was a Jewish Pharisee and would have fully understood the Jewish context of atonement for sin within the cotext he was speaking of with Jesus- it is us who dont understand the essence of turning from sin and repentance as we left our Jewish roots behind

First off, Jesus couldn't tell Nicodemus the gospel. Jesus fulfilled the gospel after His death and resurrection. Then His gospel was spread afterwords.
