My first vehicle was a 1963 Econoline Falcon Club Wagon. I tore out the inside and put in paneling, carpet and lights then jacked up the back and put some 50 series tires with chrome reverse rims on it. Big time party van fun. Mine came with a 170 CI six but I took that out an put a 200 CI six in from a wrecked Falcon sprint six. I still miss that van.
I learned to drive on my Dad's Navy surplus '66 5 window Econoline. It was Navy gray at first and Dad put a coat of red primer on it. Never did anything else to it. He had a thick blanket over the engine cover for summertime, and it made for the "third seat". He had a glass pack on it so it sounded different than yours. It was helpful when we were kids b/c we could hear him coming from a mile away! He paid $300 in '76 and drove it 12 yrs. Tough old truck. Fond memories.
You mean the Newer 2012 TOYOTA COROLLA wasn't build to last like this 1978 or 1975 TOYOTA COROLLA,but don't insult the new technically and electrically advance cars .I agree with you that the vast majority things that were built from 1920's to 1990's were built to last for many decades in advance because there was no eazy leasing of Bently Continental Sport Coupe,Rolls Royce Phantom and many other luxury cars. The life span of average product is usually under 10 years now.
I had a 64 Econo back in 72... Had the same problem with the speedometer. That was a common thing for the econo's to do. I took it apart and cleaned it up inside, and it worked till I sold the truck.. The engine sounds just about the same as mine did. Mine was a van not a pick up style, although they were popular too. Nice truck. brings back some good memories, even though mine was a customized van for partying.. Back then. Yes, like in hippy, but I diden't have a WV. I had more room.
Wish me luck finding a clutch for my 65 Clubwagon ...ex/airforce ,still got a lot of them military warning stickers. 5 diffrent clutchs for these vans....
proper undercoating and sound control would do alot for this gem . i'd keep it
