wow im just amazed. ive always wanted to know how to play. and by you puttin the help on top of you playin was a Great idea. im def. gonna check out your website
Improvisation and left hand comping was superior!!!
One thing...
The main line of 500 Miles High (the one at 1:02 when the song starts) in this video are in the wrong key. Instead of C, G, G#, C#, G, F....it should be G, D, D#, G#, D, C. This should be right...judging by the key you played the song in.
@KeepThePocket Yes you are right. That's what I get for not looking at the lead sheet at all and just going by what I remembered by ear. I realized it after I recorded it but felt the rest was pretty good and I didn't feel like doing another take. So just consider it my own "interpretation". ;-)
Had to just say TY, you're actually the 1st person I decided to subscribe to. Great commentary as well, you really set the bar for us all! Check out jazz2511 you'll like his work! Chick Corea does an incredible version of "easy to Love" by Cole Porter, it was included in one of his instructional videos if u can find it! piano man, doug long
A beautiful presentation! Thanks so much! This music has a permanent place in my brain and you've just shown me a new way of looking at it - i love the internet for stuff like this. Keep blasting away!
Hey man I just appreciate your playing so much. I'm a trumpet player and when I get to the feelin of jammin' and no one's around I just go to your page and play a few choruses and listening to you. Keep on keepin' on, drew.
Man, I can't say thanks enough man! If you ever need someone to, like, mow your lawn or something, lemme know. Thanks so much for making these videos!
I am absolutely in love with this beautiful arrangement of this piece. You are amazing. I'm just now starting to play piano, so I am just gonna watch this over and over til I can play it. Thanks for posting!
wow, this is really surprising. I chose the EXACT same voicings in this tune as you did for the head. Sounds great, but am i egotistical for saying that?
btw, thanks for putting up vids of you playing legit jazz. There's a LOT of people getting lots of views that really aren't adhering to jazz idioms whatsoever and are getting credit for playing youthful crap.

Hi there. Really great feel. I'm playing this in a gig tonight, wish me luck!
Question - How did you get the piano-less bass+drums accompaniment for the second part?
eugenechen1017 2 years ago
Good luck!
Answer - It's from the Aebersold collection.

is the first part an actual song or is it your improv?
cavalier777 3 years ago
It is an improvised rubato section based on the melody of the song 500 Miles High by Chick Corea.

Hi Roger, I think that the keyboard graphic "Power Tracks Pro" should be much more precise than the vanBasco K.
However, thanks for the great music, the drums is also terrific, sound like live concert.

Tell us, how do you get into the keyboard that great drums and bass? or it's a midi sounding outside?
