I had one of the originals in the 70s. I am surprised that they have become so popular considering how minor their influence was at the time. She was a pretty cool doll, but like Flatsy, Rock Flowers, and Crissie, she was almost too high-concept for kids to appreciate.

Actually Blythe was created in 1972 so Diva Starz took inspiration from blythe. And blythe shouldn't be anything like Barbie anyway blythe are deigner dolls judging from around £80-£200 or prehaps more if the doll is rare.I am simply trying to be helpful so please dont rate this comment negativitaly.
@sweetsugarpumpkin sorry to reply to a year-old comment, but i know alot about blythe dolls, for being 11. in 1972, kenner made blythe, as a childrens doll to play with in the first place. if you don't believe me, the commercial is on youtube. =)
How in the world would they know what a video is going to be like until they watch it?
Personally, I think these dolls are a little creepy.. collecting them just seems sort of strange.. I heard they're expensive, but they look a little cheap. It's just my opinion. So before anyone starts giving this comment a ton of 'thumbs down' points and 'outraged' comments, remember that anyone can post an opinion here..
...Actually 'à la mode' literally means 'in the manner of' and is a term commonally associated with current style or fashion, the 'with ice cream' use you're reffering to is an Americanisation of the term only.
Ah! I love her! Se is so cute! I want a Blythe!

PAM is one of my favorite blythes!
trabuyama 3 years ago
Same, she's my dream Blythe but I doubt I'll ever be able to get her as she's gone up to $800 on eBay (or more!) :(
LeBlackLace 3 years ago
I'm surprised at the negative comments,
PAM is considered one of the most beautiful, desirable Blythes.
Blythes just take some getting used to if you're only accustomed to Barbie type dolls.

I'm french and "à la mode" also means trendy or fashionable . And what's so bad if it's "with icecream" ? It's kind of cute.
Then STFU.
