ive been going to azteca gym in bell and ive always had mad respect for the maywood outfit, those people are legit. even though ive been working out there (dont actually box amatuer or pro), ive only sparred with fellow non-boxers. just watching this reminds me why i dont spar with pros or even amatuers, one word of advice to anybody wanting to train at a gym, dont think much of urself cuz even if u talk mad shit, ultimately you gotta prove by bashing someone's head & risking ur ass!
I think that between Wild Card and Maywood Boxing youll find some of the best boxers in the business local or international the difference is with all due respect to Freddie Roach in Maywood boxers are being made they have a great amateur program.
I've been to this gym a couple of times. This ain't no place for someone who thinks highly of themselves, these guys will try and break you. Literally, when Rudy Hernandez(trainer) is making bets on how many rounds it's gonna take for Armando to knock your ass out, things get in perspective. The gym is free, if you think your a bad ass. Show up, shake hands, be respectful and ask if you can get some work in. Let me know how that turns out........
OK, poor comment from me. Boxing is not boring. When I was growing up we had Ali, Frazier, Foreman, Sugar Ray Leonard, Thomas "Hitman" Hearns, and other great fighters that everyone new. Seems like right now at least, the heavy-weight division doesn't have any big-name popular great fighters.
YUPYUP we got real fighters here.Julio Cesar Chavez didn't let his son box one of the boxers from Maywood because he didn't want his son to get his ass kicked even though Chavez Jr. accepted the fight.
what weight are these guys? they should be punching harder than that. they look like 150-170 or 80. I can understand they don't wanna bang in a sparring match but man c'mon.. those punches aren't making an impact..
The Maywood Boxing Club is a pure gym; the fighters, whether pro or amateur or male or female, are real and they keep it real. I'm happy MaxBoxing is sharing it with others...
The Maywood Boxing Club is one of the best gyms in So. Cali., but it's not well known. Some of the best young fighters and vets - from flyweight to welterweight - train there, including lightweight standouts Carlos Hernandez, Jose Santa Cruz, and Urbano Antillon, all of whom are sparring here (along with Randy Suico, Ivan Valle and Jose Soto Karass).

Why? It was a brutally one-sdied contest. Diaz just pounded Randy's head and body, round after round.
