  • Great mate nice one Alan were not worthy.

    Dave B

  • @diddydave56 There was an Alan in the Bay City Rollers and an Alan in the Arrows! The two Alans, Longmiur and Merrill. LOL

  • @KeithTheKing hi mate ye Mr merrill is a personal friend of mine, my sister loved the scots were from UK .

  • Gosh, I wasn't born until 9 years after this was filmed. I really didnt know of them until I was in middle school and honestly, I pry wouldnt have liked them (looks wise i mean) but DAMN, Eric is one of THE sexiest guys I have EVER seen! I even love his hair :) But he's got to have the sexiest face & bod of the 70s :)...can I travel back in time just to hook up with him once? :D

  • @Fansandhaters Sorry, we can only allow you these visits back in time to seventies Roller-land on youtube. Enjoys the clips!! :)

  • When I was young I 'm crazy for Ian.He looks really cute this one.

  • jake hooker isn't so bad either....

  • i like eric's voice....and accent....and him in general :)

ian and woody are next in line though

  • najo grade etwas angetrunken und lust auf eine nette unterhaltung

  • The Arrows were 10 times more talented than those Muppets who were just so over hyped.I was there and most went for the silly rollers

  • @LittleJohnJack The Bay City Rollers had a totally different appeal and musical approach than The Arrows, who were a bit older I think, and had a much more heavy American rock music indocrination. as evidenced by their writing songs like "I love rock n roll." The BCR were more popular, but musically there's no comparison really.

  • @KeithTheKing Yeah..they were definitive influenced by Arrow-Smith......;]

  • @PAULLONDEN The Arrows started in 1973, before Arrow-Smith!

  • The Arrows got their own TV series based on their performance of "I love rock n roll" on Muriel Young's "45" TV pop show. The Arrows wrote and released the original version of "I love rock n roll" in 1975.

  • What fun days these must have been! Look at the pop scene now, it's sad.

  • The Arrows singer Alan Merrill was hanging out in Tokyo with Les's son Richard in Tokyo this week. Richard went to see Alan's show at the Shibuya Duo Exchange with his mum Peko.

  • Small world!

  • The girls screaming is so funny! Cease!

    Classic clip!

  • Have you both read "Bye Bye Baby" by Caroline Sullivan? Excellant account of a Rollermaniac firsthand and all that entailed back in the glammy poptastick 70's.

  • Bay City Rollers Rock! I still love them. Just had a warning. My feelings must go somewhat censored. Love you. I had such fun with my friends. Just bless them for the fun they gave to me and my friends.

  • its amazing that the rollers hysteria in britain had faded away in 1976 as this video shows.....

  • I looooved Ian!!! I was Little Ian n Irish Angel.

  • GOD i had sucha mad crush on Eric Faulkner...wicked sexy!!!

  • Strange to see them get up in the last few seconds and belt out " Love Rock N Roll." But - you see - it is a 70s song - not a Joan Jett song. Check out the original by The Arrows - Alan Merrill

  • Nice 70s clip!

  • Sadly, drummer Paul Varley of The Arrows passed away on July 2nd 2008. Rest in peace Paul.

  • omg I basically was an 80's kid that song at the end I never heard by anyone but JOAN JETT I thought she made that song!! Guess not-I was just a tiny tot but I adored the BCR so much how little I knew because I was so little when they were out. Its strange to actually realize and take notice who they really are and what they really look like so weird and cool at the same time

  • Well in my opinion 70s music is better than anything you will ever hear nowadays and keep in mind im only 15 years old.

  • Woody and Ian! now could i PLEASE be in the middle of those 2!? what a bunch of cuties!

I Love My Woody and i Love My Ian! :-D

  • How I love their accent! Funny how the interview style was different... Nobody seems prepare! But it's GREAT! I love it! Thanks for posting!

  • OMG! Did you see Alan's ''Andy Pandy'' trousers!

  • I remember these guys. It made a person uncool if you liked this group. Teen Beat magazine, and other teen music mags featured them ALL the time. My best friend dressed in tartan and cut her hair an inch long all over. She LOVED Woody, wanted to marry him. I pretended not to know her, she was the ONLY one in HIGH SCHOOL dressed that way.

  • He didn't let Woody talk!!!! Love you Woody!!!

  • Woody is shy..=)

  • what did eric say at 1:00 'we are not ...'??

  • I believe he sais- "We are not leaving britian"

  • we are not leaving britain.....

  • Screamfest!

  • Hahaha! Yeah!

  • yes i agree there was immense energy present

the social 70,s a fantastic time

  • Wow! Lots of energy in the room!

  • I love rock n roll, and these bands. The 70s were the best!

  • How lucky are you!((((smile)))) Woody ( Stuart) will always be my favorite Bay City Roller!

  • I like this so much. Good video!

  • That's an awesome course. I studied Sound Production in theatre school in Niagara Falls Canada when I was younger. My instructor credited my splicing abilities to the fact that I was a drummer and very sensitive to rhythm. That was twenty five years ago. I'll bet the studios look quite different today! We were still using reel-to-reel.

  • That's awesome. Give him a grand old hello from an old fan in Canada, and god bless.

  • My god they were just kids. But I was there, man.

  • Nice nostalgic post:)

  • Interesting clip, kind of like a time capsule of the mid 70s brit-pop scene.

  • Grace is on p.4 of you tube. Look for roller fix.She loves these guys as much as we do. See ya later. Love, Gina.

  • Anyone know Grace in Fl.? Tell her I said HI. Thank you. See ya later. Love, Gina.

  • Wha?

  • This is a 70s Mates magazine on film!

  • funny

  • which 1 is les??

  • He's on the right in black with the tartan collar.

  • Saw the Rollers at the Palladium (Manhattan) in January '77 and at the Westchester Premier Theater (upstate NY) in April, '77. I was 16 at the time. It was incredible. Could not hear one bit of music from all the screaming. Fantastic experience and memory. Love the Rollers !

  • Les and Eric reminds me of John and Paul. Any comments???

  • Bay City Rollers and Arrows together in one room. LOL! It must have been noisy to be there with all the screaming girls.

  • i was a roller fanatic myself. i had eric's name on my wall with tartan on it! god this brings back memories for me! thank you you tube!

  • I attended two concerts, both in '77 in Illinois. I was screaming so hard I'm not sure I heard them, but it was very, very exciting. The highlight of my young life.

  • God! Eric!!! If I was in that audience, I would have run up there and locked onto him and never let go!

  • Look at those funky clothes!!! Did we really dress like that? Oooh, what memories these guys bring back!!

  • Yes we did. 33 years later and it brings back memories. Had my hair cut like them.....

  • Great!

  • 2 Arrows are from the Bronx NY USA. 1 Preston Lancs. A US-UK band.

  • Fun to hear all these accents mingling. The Scottish accented Rollers, The New York City Arrows singer and the Preston Lancashire UK Arrows drummer. It's like a pop version of the UN! :)

  • I didn't know the Arrows were from New York. Interesting.

  • And don't forget that Ian Mitchell was from Downpatrick, IRELAND! He actually emailed me a few months ago - I was thrilled!

  • how the hell did u manage to get his email addy?? u very lucky..

  • Ian has a myspace and tries to answer the posts of all his fans, especially the new ones. His email addy is posted on his website

  • he has an accent

  • Does anyone know how the Madison Square Garden thing worked? How could were these guys in concert? They had a great power sound. So, since I was stuck on the farm in their heyday, I am curious if anyone has ever been to one of their concerts.

  • Keith, thanks for uploading all these great videos - it's a real treat to see this footage.

  • These vids were posted for pleasure and for people to enjoy. They were not uploaded to start confrontation. I would appreciate all personal squabbles to be addressed off list. Thank you! - Keith

  • Well, the young ladies in the audience seemed to be having a wonderful time in this atmosphere. That's entertainment!

  • Yes, I will give it a rest. I have to aimlessly strum my guitar anyway.

  • Fine and when you sell a dozen or more albums, perform sell out concerts all over the world, have millions of fans adoring you who will post videos of you here so we can sit back and judge.

  • I really very much enjoyed seeing this video. Thanks!

  • Give it a rest already...sheesh

  • Please people, no fighting! I think the two bands are fabulous and it's fun to see them together after all these years. It takes a lot to get up on a stage and perform under pressure.

Both of these bands are great and fun to see. That's all that matters.

  • You are absolutely right. I am sorry for any problems.

    Thanks, Keith!

  • Furthermore, it's pretty insulting to accuse someone who has NEVER DONE COKE that I MUST know what I am talking about.

Did I accuse them of being on coke? No, I said Les was high. That could have been anything back in the 70's. Wouldn't know what.

I know drugs only from the chronic pain I feel. They are prescribed. I do not get high, I do not want to get high, and right now....I am pissed.

Your mission has been accomplished. Thank you.

  • Good God! Someone needs some happy pills.

It is well documented that they had really bad drug problems. But if you think that not being able to stand still, interupting poor Eric, who had something to say, patting him on the back (and it embarrassed the guy) is normal....I will just head into my Janis Joplin phase.

Don't even let me get into the Arrows. I had never heard of them but

    I want what they're having!!!!

    Chill.

  • Les would do anything for attention, including interrupting on interviews and trying to take over the stage if he thought another member was getting more attention....guess this is another indication of drug use??? I'm not an expert so I wouldn't know. And I never said they didn't have any problems with drugs, I know they did. But hey, it's just a video, there was no need to imply they were high on drugs. This may be why you're here, but as fans of the BCR, we are not here for that reason.

  • I loved BCR growing up. Ian was my favorite. He should drag his ass back to America and get involved with some artists here.

  • Ian is actually an American citizen now. He lives in SoCal, married to a fan, and plays out a lot.

  • WOW, you're good if you can tell from an old video if people are on drugs as strong as coke, while you're at it, judge the hosts and the audience as well, they all must be on drugs too then huh...maybe you're the one drugs since it's so clear to you.

  • guy in pink shirt- ian mitchell based on the description? -has such a cool accent! where's he from? he pronounced tour "tewer". i loved it

and the arrows are so hot!

  • Ian Mitchell is from Ireland, he was only with the BCR for about 7 months, he hyped up his own fan base then went back to Ireland and formed his own band, Rosetta Stone

  • cool, thanks

  • Can you explain to me why Eric keeps strumming the guitar and trying to play chords whiles he is talking?

    Not odd?

  • actually, ian went back to his old group, the young city stars, and to avoid comparisons with the rollers, ian and his friend damian changed the group's name to rosetta stone.

  • you want to see how musicians look when they're high on drugs....go check out the videos of Kurt Cobain and his druggie wife, the Stones(no pun intended)etc... The Rollers got into that crap later into their musical careers thanks to their manager who also stole millions from them. To say someone is on drugs simply because they're not standing still, is well...I think you know.

  • Tam Paton admits he stole all their cash and is sitting pretty in a massive house, thank you very much. Saw a programme about it recently, very nasty business.

  • OK I admit it...I wanted to be Les McKeown when I was little!

  • Les wasn't high, he's just hyper... for this type of music, that was back before musicians needed drugs to perform

  • This band admitted on the Don & Mike radio show 3 months ago that they ALL had MAJOR drug dependencies..Are you kidding?

  • maybe so, but they didn't get into the drug scene until well after this time period...and you can't they someone is on drugs simply because they don't stand still...are you kidding?

  • omg- Les is so frickin' high he can't stand still.

These guys had a lot more problems than just wearing plaid clothes.

  • so many cute pop-rocker boys : - }

  • cool

  • The Arrows lead singer Alan Merrill's huge white sunglasses and jumpsuit are so outrageous!

  • Great vidclip!

  • Ian is such a DOLL! OMG! i drooling here! ;-)

  • Always adored you Eric!

  • Love seeing things with IAN in!!!

  • Didn't Ian leave the band just days after this??

  • Ha ha, so funny "cease". It looked like Les whacks Eric on the back, or maybe its my eye sight, lol

  • I met Ian a couple years ago. Talked with him for hours. He's such a sweetheart.

  • This is great -- of all of them! "Ian, Ian, we love you!!" :)

  • eric is sooo fine!! aww ian looks soo cute! haha

  • god i remember this like it was yesterday,Les a ham no a hunk

  • Alan is too cool!

  • Hey Alan, you are too cool!!

  • He does seem pretty relaxed. In fact, they all seem very at ease on camera. A fun seventies piece.

  • Love it!!! Eric Looks great here...and Les never changes still a ham!!! lol
