My uncle had tekken 2 and every time I went to his house we played the "electric man" game (I ddin't know the name of it... and Heihachi ... you know..) And then I asked my mum to get a ps1 for xmas one year and she found tekken 3 and we bought it
As for me, Tekken 2 was the game that got me into the series. I enjoyed the series for the gamplay and most of all, the story. I also would like to mention that the way they based the fighting styles on real life fighting styles is also why I love the series. :)
My first Tekken was Tekken 2. I was amazed at how deep the fighting system was compared to what was out at the time. I remember my friend beating me on the ground continuously with wake-up games, a tactic I would later know as okizeme.
I played Tekken 2 and 3 hardcore, but didn't really get into 4 (I started playing VF 4), but recently got back into the Tekken series with Tekken 5.
i started with tekken 3 in a time i was still playing MK 3 and super street fighter 2... tekken 3 blow the hell out of my mind, its like everytime i play tekken 3 i got a new character and new mode. the camera movement. 3D graphics. it was beyond awesome at that time.
So when I was like 7 years old, my dad borrowed a PS1 from a friend of his. It had 3 games with it, Driv3r, Tekken3 and Crash Bandicoot. So me and my friend would play Crash and Driv3r all day long. I dunno why, but we never really bothered to try Tekken. It didn't look interesting to me. One day my dad insisted me to try it tho, and I loved it. For the rest of the time we had the PS1, we only played Tekken3 and unlocked everything. Damn did that feel good. :D But then we had to give it back.
That's how I got into Tekken. After that I borrowed a PS1 from my friend several times and played Tekken3 like hell. =p Then time passed and I didn't really pay attention to the series even tho I loved it, because I didn't have any console to get it on. Then they announced Tekken6 would be coming to the 360, damn was I happy, I can finally get a Tekken game myself, been hyping it ever since. Can't wait, it's going to be awesome. :D
Can I add you on XBL? Maybe we could hit up online sometime. ;)
my friends played Tekken 3 in like 1996ish, I started up then and been playing ever since. Though I did have a hiatus during T4, cuz I thought it was garbage
My cousin got me into Tekken a little after Tekken 2 was released for the PSX. Played it everyday and it started to grow on me. Another thing that brought me into Tekken was the fighting mechanics and most the characters had interested me.
