Ripped Gene off with the shaking head movement.Forgot to mention that eh John...Gene was the Man..cool Kat..Sting what a tosser, quote someone screaming on the record, you clueless geordie..
i always thought this was a rewrite of heartbreak hotel/ money honey . just record produces trying to jump on the elvis success bandwagon. It is a good record in its own right tho.
Great post! Paul McCartney once said it was actually harder to write a song like Be Bop A Lula than it was to write a song like Hey Jude wow! and sting is a fucking nob!
You are right on the money about Sting; there should be a K at the end of his name. I saw The Police on the first date of their farewell tour and it was a struggle to keep my eyes open-the tix were free, but in retrospect I should have received compensation for tolerating their pretentious drivel.
This song was co-written by Gene Vincent and it is his biggest hit. Capital Records was looking for a new Elvis and had a nationwide contest. Vincent won, and he is the epitome of rock and Roll, with one of the greatest bands, the Blue Caps.
Too bad they dont mass produce records anymore, because I would buy them instead of CD's or MP3's... Dont get me wrong they still make albums, but not for every artist.
@thedps1998 I think the screaming guy Sting was talking about was the drummer, heard screaming in 0:52 . On the original record, he wanted to make sure his family could recognize it's him, so he added the scream.

I think McCartney was just pointing out how original, and how good these old rock n roll tunes were.

Gene Vincent probably is one of the lesser known good performers from that era.

Clearly Sting hasn't studied rock records like Lennon did. "Some guy..." screams on the record. You mean Gene Vincent you soft jazz wanker?
thedps1998 3 years ago 18
erm... ..He is relaying his recollections and first impressions as those of a SIX YEAR OLD kid at the time.
.. Even John Lennon would likely admit to not knowing his rock and roll history at the age of six surely?
