  • Genial... Inmensamente romántico.

    ¡BRAVO!

  • I'm going to go see him perform the Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto in Bb Minor tonight. SO EXCITED.

  • @joelwagnerpiano u gonna cry because he plays>u?

  • He is not playing on a Fazioli?? Why??

  • @anirudh1998able becoz steinway>all?

  • I've been lucky enough to see this suburb musician in a few concerts in Israel. He recently played the Rachmaninoff Rhapsody on a theme by Paganini. You can hear it here for a few more days (it starts at 01:19:20). Trifonov and the Israeli Philharmonic Orchestra mesh together like a hand in glove. Trifonov's playing is brilliant - nothing less.

Could someone please upload it to Youtube. Thanks

  • Trifonov väga andekas pianist !

  • To touch us .... Il love him

  • And which seem so easy under his fingers ... I love his joy of playing and his ability

  • Wants to express .... I love his interprétation of those études which are so difficult

  • I am very impressed by this accomplished artist of 20 years old ... So young and charming and so mature émotionnaly and he clearly transcended his fabulous technique to serve what exactly he

  • ROBERTO GIORDANO is the BEST for CHOPIN ETUDES

  • Wonderful, really

  • Amazing!!!!!!! Fabulous!!!!! At last a REAL musician among the "racehorses" we've been having during the last years...

  • 30:40... Divine!!!

Bravissimo Maestro Daniil Trifonov!!!

  • Trifinov has become my favorite young pianist. This is a magificent performance. Kzelmer I dont agree that Daniil deserved first prize at the 2010 competition. Avdeeva just consistently played the best at that time. Of those who competed, I think Trifonov and Bozhanov have the most potential. The level of competition was quite high.

  • This is an historic performance! Beautiful legato, outstanding use of half-pedal, rare insight into Chopin, and above all fresh. Daniil Trifonov, if this is what you are capable of at 20 years of age, the world will be yours in a few years. Absolutely magnificent. The best I have heard in 60 years of playing. Would that I had half your genius at your age. Eat your heart out Kissin.

  • @Howard4231 Eat your heart out Kissin?Howard4321 you should be ashamed of yourself to give such a rude comment on Kissin.Eat your heart out? Are you American?

  • @abmsghost1 Rude? Au contraire mon ami. It is Eugeny Kissin who is rude, not I. Such a great talent, and yet so arrogant. "Look at me, how great I am, and how I will give you Scriabin as only I can play him, at lightening speed, with dazzling technique, and every meaningless affectation possible. Sit back in your chairs and be awed by my brilliance, you rubes!"

Unlike Trifonov and even lesser talents who make beautiful music, Kissin flounders for meaning. It is a pity.

  • @Howard4231 Where did Kissin said that? Show me.Your critisism robs you from higher cognitieve powers.THATS a pity.

  • @Howard4231 What in gods name are you blathering about ?

  • OMG, he is so amazing!!!!!

  • He was third at the Chopin competition (2010), the same year Avdeeva won. In my opinion, Daniil should have won in 2010.

  • Daniil is a rare song bird send from another world!!! Beautiful !!

  • ¡¡Fabuloso!!!

  • This is one of the greatest live performances I've ever seen. This kid is going places! :)

  • Exquisite

  • I think sometimes that he encompasses the best of Maestros Horowitz and Rubinstein. At any rate, I am very glad to be on Earth with him. What a privilege even to have a chance to hear him play!

  • There's such joy and sincerity in his playing that is oftentimes very rare even among some of the older greats.

  • im out of words...........daniil is unbelievable!god bless him.

  • es mui calidad el video

  • He´s amazing. Check his performance of the Mephisto Waltz... Demon's incarnation!

  • @jyorujyu3d qwdawda

  • Responder a este vídeo... calida

  • esmui calidaelvideoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo..

  • in a way, sometimes,he is on Mr.Rubinstein level, but not Horowitz and who is?

  • @TheContrabas totally disagree this matches a young Horowitz, and you won t see many young pianists ever play to this way. OLga Kern was the last of the young pianists that nearly got to understand Rachmaninov and Horowitz way.I think this lad goes back to the old school and is a true individual.

  • Beautiful. Naturally musical playing, fluide, always leading on,with no mannerisms.Even when one is not always in agreement with the details,he convinces by his inner passion. Comparisons with classic major artists' studio recordings are irrelevent;this is amazing;even "live" under stressful conditions there are few blemishes.A rare creature these days: a young, natural Chopinist.

  • It's as if he is playing pure Harmonics! His technique is so flawless; I've never seen this before, and I'm a pianist. Amazing performance from a TRUE artist. Brava!!!

  • A critic from the New York Times said that Mr. Trifonov needed more emotional maturity. What a load of rubbish! This is perfection, maturity, emotional clarity, and artistic depth of great magnitude. I will make every effort to hear him play before I die! His flat fingers remind me of Horowitz's. He seems to be as transported as I by the sound that he creates, and it's not theatrics.

  • @jiggsuhhh YES - I also note that he sits low at the keyboard, as did Maestro Horowitz. Horowitz said this allowed him to pay closer attention to color and detail ... And as you say, Trifonov is an incredible artist of great depth and magnitude. I only hope he will come to California to perform soon!

  • @ScottHolliday1 Gould, too, sat very low in "his" chair...

  • @jiggsuhhh a critic from the New Your Times can go wipe his ars... this is top notch artistry.

  • @jiggsuhhh Yep......Another critic said the same about Hilary Hahn........

  • Comment removed

  • @jiggsuhhh What an idiot critic. His expression is a beautiful thing to witness... But this is about the music. I utterly agree with you! I'm very annoyed by the fact that someone would say such a thing.

  • Are you kidding me, 7 people? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!?!?!

  • @idroy87 Yes......These creatures who did NOT like were a group a Klingon tourists on a Music Appreciation Cruise....Who knew...?...)

  • @idroy87 No shit. The lack of musical taste is disturbing. I get that he's a little awkward to watch, but you are looking at a future legend in the making.

  • He's got the face of a Welshman, but the fingers of an angel...

  • What amazes me most about Trifonov is that he has the ability to mix together expressive techniques of dynamics, color, tempo, phrasing, etc. to maximum effect. Just one example: listen to #11 (Winter Wind) at 25:00 and you'll hear it in a totally new way.

    (Charles Baudelaire)

  • Who could possibly dislike this? Perfection.

  • Wonderful!

  • In the presence of a great young talent. Phenomenal recording. That this performance would have gone unnoticed but for Youtube and AthurR.

  • I came across this performance by accident and I have no idea who this young man was. I was hooked after a few bars. I went on to discover that he had won two prestige piano competitions this year. What a exceptional talent? Mr. Trifonov has brought some fresh air to this often played master pieces and he has succeeded to put his own mark on the music that many established pianists are not able to. I hope he will soon record the complete Etudes. Bravo...

  • Trifonov's playing is so wonderful because while he has flawless, precise, and very virtuoso technique, he doesn't play these etudes to show off his technical prowess-no, instead, he showcases the artistry, the character, the colors, nuance, and expression behind every note. He lives every note and is a true genius.... My favorite etude starts at 12:58!!

  • Pure genius playing.

  • In the tenth etude, the octave etude, the middle section - there is a different color for the bottom octave and top octave melody, often the bottom octave is detached. It has a very relaxed quality, contrasting with the first and last sections.

  • Listening to more of these: there is a clarity, not overpedalled. Changes of color. There is a melodic line that comes through, as though it was an art song rather than an etude. Refreshing playing.

  • I agree with the comments about the first etude. He plays it with delicacy and sensitivity. Excellent rubato. He brings out the inner voices. The melody has a songlike quality.

  • I agree with the comments about the first etude. He plays it with delicacy and sensitivity. Excellent rubato. He brings out the inner voices.

  • @warsaw1e I never said they were easy. They are of course among the most challenging and enduring piano compositions in the literature. If he's such a great player then I'm sure he will have a great career and will be able to withstand public scrutiny as he develops. The comments here sound like a bunch of hype, and your comment in particular makes it sound like you need to protect him from the slightest criticism. My point is that he's not the Messiah as many people on this thread suggest.

  • @MrJazzProf. This is exactly what you said " Lots of people can play the Chopin etudes well" I guess you meant they were easy to be played. And I'm happy that you admit that Daniil Trifonov is a a great pianist. But I don't agree with you in that you don't value Daniil high. I can tell you that he is the future legend of the piano and you will remember my words:) I'm serious. But I respect your opinion and agree that you may have a different point of view:) People are different:)

  • @MrJazzProf Ok! Off of which turnip truck did YOU fall...?

  • this man will be as famous as Argerich in a couple of years.

  • A good student performance!! Nothing more! Certainly, worth the competition prizes!

No artist of any importance would sound like that.

  • Twenty years old, amazing.

  • B R A V I S S I MO ! :-)

  • I'm so thankful for this sheer beauty!!!!!!

  • The best version I've heard in my life of the Etude no 7 op. 25 in C sharp minor - at 12min48sec. Trifonov here "plays his life". Mesmerizing.

  • If Trifonov ever releases a CD of the complete Chopin etudes, I will be among the first to buy it!

  • Impressionante..only 20 years old. The star of piano-playing is born. And is not Andeeva,of course !!!

    !!Maravilloso!!!

  • Sorry - Bowers of course.

  • Wow - it took that long? You sound like Faubion Bauer's describing Scriabin.

  • He's a good player, yes. Not worth panting over though. Lots of people can play the Chopin etudes well. He skates over some of the passages. Go put on the Arrau recording and compare.

  • @MrJazzProf - I wonder whether you could play those Etudes well, if they are so easy, Mr Prof???

  • I am in awe of this performance of the Opus 25 etudes; Trifonov has just won first prize in the 2011 Tchaikovsky Competition, and deservedly so!

  • He is a genius.

  • Bravo!

  • Geniale!!

  • Clearly this is a very special young pianist - his complete involvement with the music is something that is reminiscent of all great artists - would be very surprised if he does not have a major career.

  • :)

  • It looks like these etudes very easy. It's difficult to understand that in this video he is only 20 years old!!!!!

  • It's been a long time since I was last impressed by a performance. BEST EVER.

  • he look a bit exhausted...

  • can't agree with most reactions. He plays well but certainly not to be compared to the great Rubinstein himself. Let alone Cziffra's amazing rendition!

  • From the moment he began - not even 55 seconds into the performance - I knew I was in the presence of greatness. The first etude was extraordinary alone. So much so as to eclipse even Rubinstein. The F minor was of wings tipped of silver. Each etude thereafter was no less beautiful, no less exquisitely conceived. There is such complete accord here between all components . Utterly flawless work! To say even "Bravo" seems harsh in the face of such beauty, but bravo......Bravo!

  • @PhillipLWilcher you aint heard me yet lol!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • @afertyus1000 I can't wait :)

  • Amazing!

  • He is out of this world!! Absolutely wonderful. Terrific Trifonov!

  • One of the best renditions in history! Each Etude sounds fresh an extremely beautiful, is full of original details and so natural... Construction and "drama" of the whole cycle is also fantastic. Trifonov has a very good taste, rich imagination and is such a sensitive person. Real master and inspiring artist. Bravissimo!!!!

  • Schitterend!!

  • This is for me one of the greatest versions of this masterpiece ever!!! I'm speechless
