I had a go at scratching and found I could do it, but got bored after an hour. Why not try learning the tablas or somthing? (I mean, I can blow a spit-bubble while making a waterdrop sound with my cheek, but there's only so far you can go with that. It's like juggling, you start to think 'so what'?)
Awesome video, thanks! You appear to have pretty different skills with your right and left and side, which makes it seem (to me) that the digital side is way better... If you have time you should post with the analog record on the order side :)
Whats the best digital vinyl, i was looking into numark cdx and they had some problems with that, technics dz1200 had some problems too even though its like one of the best when it comes to any vinyl system. Any suggestions?
Do you get alot of latency with Torq? Was is easy to get everything up and running? What kind of computer are you using because right now I am debating between Serato, Traktor and any other timecoded vinyl setup
@christwagon1980 Traktor is more "mixing" soft - you can play with up to 4 decks and you have a lot of posibilities for mixing 8beat jump, beat loop, effects)
Serato is more for scratch djs. its more stabile, (now in SL3 you can play with 3decks), im using serato with my vinyl or cdj400, and for my its fine :)
@christwagon1980 Traktor is way cheaper and isn't notably worse it depends on what box(what ever its called)your using i would say RANEs SL4 is better NI audio 8 DJ i like the interface for traktor myself.
just looking up analogue recroding as i'm a guitar player, stumbled on this. Got a question for you DJ's. I do believe there's a place for dj's in music, but i've always wondered, what do you do if you wanna play a ballad, just a nice soft song, no beats. Sure there lots of variations... but Don't you need a break from the strong beat, and percussiveness of the scratching? just curious what you do
@NameSupplied Hmm when I want to break from a strong beat ? I usually play piano ;)
You see most good DJ's are musicians they either play guitar some sort of percussion or other instruments a true DJ is just a music lover..
I mix other peoples music not because I'm lazy and don't want to create music myself but because I respect other musicians and there creativity and I'm inspired to do more with their sound.
Thanks for not taking offence to the question man. I meant more live what do you do, but i guess people wanna hear beats, even as a normal band you can't always be artistic but i think you get more freedom in a band. I agree with you, but do the other top DJ's say "a good Dj must play other instruments"? Does grand master flash play other instruments?
Personally, before I got into DJing (and I'm an electro DJ), I was a dancer. Before that, I played a bit of piano and guitar. You have a very strong point; the ideal DJ is a music lover who holds a great amount of respect for the artists who supply us our music. ;)
can i leave my opinion, vinyl is great for control over the record, but cd's offer better anti back ache when you going to a club, but DVS Is Great tool
Love the Torq but I cannot fiqure out how to get the volumes matched up so I can play regular vinyl while the Conectiv is hooked up. Any ideas?! Your videos are great man.
Nice man! I'm still trying to figure out if I wanna drop my money on digital or vinyl. Digital seems more versatile and cheaper but if I'm gonna me scratching I think I wanna go vinyl. Plus, those time codded vinyls seem to be pretty awesome.
U got a great flow Masta!!! for the convinience it brings to a dj, the timecode vinyls and a laptop are a good choice. but to enjoy a good scratch I prefer the good old analog sound waves ;]
Still love true vinyls but DVS is just a tool, its my crate of records. Not carrying loads of records, scratching records that normally are to rare to be scratched.
still like the true vinyls more than the timecoded but DVS is very cool and it stills requires your skills as a vinyl dj

Right now, I'm currently using the Spin controller but am getting bored of it. I am curious to know what turntable is the best for DVS?
miikeyyG 1 year ago
@miikeyyG The Technic 1200 is the best of the best.
But can get pretty expensive.
Direct drive turntables are good Stanton, Numark , Vestax

Nice vid, if you buy the digital vinyl by itself( no software or sound card) cn you still get it to work?
PWNstar14 2 years ago
No it requires a Sou d card and the software.
The sound recorded on the vinyl is a long digital computer sound.
djscratchdog 2 years ago
What if you had a sound card and another software(I have vdj)?
PWNstar14 2 years ago
The right turntable is the digital one? (From you/DJ viewpoint)
?
ev13wt 2 years ago
No the left turntable is the digital from my point of view.
The record with the green label is analog standard vinyl.
