  • BAH... I got diagnosed with lymes disease a month ago. I haven't had symptoms in a few weeks. But is it really as serious as they say?

  • @Tvor1128

    how are you now?

  • I love that no doctor will admit Lymes is also an STD/Congenital! If it can get in your blood, it can be passed on :)

  • PERMETHRIN = Tick repellent (NOT DEET)

Deet helps... but works poorly for ticks. The BEST protection is Permethrin & deet

  • I don't think there isn't to much I haven't been told BY SOME doctor. I was health, until i end-up with Lyme's. Was it to much to ask to be healthy once more, as I was before Lyme Disease? I'm fighting to live daily, and faced with the red-tape BS. Just to get the help I need. What have we become? To sick to care for ourselves, yet refused by the medical field. DO THEY HOPE, WE WILL DIE, AND THE TRUTH ABOUT THIS DISEASE SWEEP UNDER THE RUG. 37 &SLOWLY DIEING.Thanks Uncle Sam,

  • +Lyme Western Blot Test

My worst symptoms... Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome, Generalized Anxiety, light OCD, ADHD, Nightmare Disorder, Teeth grinding - multiple teeth pulled, multiple root canals, racing thoughts, tossing and turning at night, waking before dawn, hand shaking, Restless Leg Syndrome, and more...

Don't see a psychiatrist... please see a Lyme Specialist.

  • Hey guys....PLEASE register at the Oprah Winfrey website and let her know how much you would like to see her do a show on Lyme disease. Dr. Oz thinks the "UNDER OUR SKIN" documentary is wonderful but a show about Lyme won't be done unless she sees lots of interest. Request that LLMDS and patients be the guests so that we can be heard. Also, Daryl Hall would make a great guest. OPRAH needs to hear about YOUR experience with Lyme disease. WE ARE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER !

    God Bless,

    Elaine

  • You can pass Lyme disease through sexual contact???

  • You can definitely transmit Lyme disease through sexual contact. The Lyme bacteria is in the same family as Syphilis which is also caused by spirochete form bacteria.

  • That hasn't been proven. Some believe it. Some don't.

  • Thank you for the information. My daughter has been fighting Lyme's for a few years but they have determined she has had it for about 30 years. It has really affected her brain and she is now going to be having a pic line and another bought of antibotics. Horrible disease.

  • It almost seems better to avoid most modern hospitals altogether if you have a swollen tick bite because they either will disagree you have lyme disease altogether (especially if you have shitty health insurance) or they'll pump you up with a cocktail of antibiotics that will destroy your health.

  • I can understand how it might seem that way... but believe me, if you have Lyme, you NEED to get treatment. Lyme is progressive and generally gets harder to treat the longer you have it.

Treatment for early Lyme is usually just a single oral antibiotic, for a couple of months at the most. If someone who was recently infected is given multiple or IV antibiotics, it is usually because they already have neurological involvement or other symptoms of "late-stage" Lyme. (cont'd below)

  • The treatments for chronic/late-stage Lyme are much more difficult... these treatments shouldn't "destroy your health" themselves either, but they are NOT fun, since they can cause symptoms to get worse temporarily as bacteria dies off. And those of us with chronic Lyme often have to stay on these medicines for months or years (and often this disease has destroyed our lives in many ways by the time we get treatment). That's why it's so important to get treatment before it becomes chronic.

  • It's true that many doctors don't know enough about Lyme... if you think you may have Lyme, look for a "Lyme-literate doctor" or "LLMD" (a term used in the Lyme community—-most regular doctors won't know what you mean if you ask for a referral to one)... you can find one through LymeNet or the Lyme Disease Association website.

And btw, according to the International Lyme and Associated Diseases Society, fewer than 50% of people with Lyme saw a tick or noticed a rash-- see ILADS (dot) org.

  • I was bit bye ticks in 2001 and have been sick ever since i was 10 years old a little girl with not a care in the world....ever since then ive had joint pain fatiuge and awful headaches but its like when i go to the doctors its

    "Your making it up"

    "There's nothing wrong with you"

"Well lets take another blood test"

I SWEAR IF ANOTHER DOCTOR SAYS THAT TO ME IM GONNA PUNCH THEM IN THE FACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

why on earth would i make it up??

    why would i fake it?

and i dont wanna be poked anymore

  • I'm so sorry... I've been sick since I was 14 and know how hard it is to have a chronic illness when you're young (it must have been even harder for you, at just 10 years old!). I hope you find a better doctor soon who will give you the care that you need!

  • Wrote a very comprehensive Lyme brochure with the help of 2 Lyme specialists. Happy to email a copy to anyone interested.

    Elaine

  • Thank you! That's a great brochure.

  • Thanks so much to TOFU for sharing this. My big question is, why do doctors even have to depend so much on the laboratory and the worthless tests to tell them how to treat someone, (or not treat them). Can't they use thier eyes?? And diagnose it clinically???

I think this whole Lyme Disease nightmare is one of the biggest scandals in the history of medicine.

  • Thanks for this...a very proffessional video. I sent you a video of mine telling about other preventative measures which people can take.

Please keep up your good work.

    Richard

  • good work-very educational! I can't believe I just pulled a tick out from my cat...

  • Thanks for your comment! I can't personally take any credit for this video... it was created by TOFU, I just posted it for them. I think they did a great job too.

  • Thank you so much for making this video. 15+ doctors later, i am still sick. When is the CDC going to wake up and change the standard testing to the Western Blot? Who profits from the ELISA? There we will find our answers. This is such a TRAVESTY to MANKIND.
