This means that if someone is robbing a bank, which causes harm, they need to be stopped. If they're committing some "mortal sin" such as homosexuality or adultery, it's only their self who will burn in hell.
So, let them decide whether they feel like cheating or being gay. It really has nothing to do with you. It is not doing you any harm.
I will say, also, that this goes in all contexts. If physical harm is not being done to another or to property, it's no one else's business. Even in a classroom. If a student chooses not to pay attention, teachers are trained not to stop teaching in order to gain their attention. It's the student's own problem if they choose to make a poor decision that affects only their own learning.

Obviously no situation is black and white. Yes, cheating is punished in school, and rightly so. I think it falls into a grey area, as in the real world, this is considered plagiarism because in the real world, this would be stealing. The ideas would be stolen for profit. I was wrong to bring school into this, for it is not the real world, and as such, doesn't always apply.

Lying for instance...done in a certain situation may be rationalized, but the act of lying is still wrong. You may have lied to save a life, and understandably so, but a lie is still a lie and can't be called anything else. My parents used to scream at each other and fight constantly until they started swinging and chose to separate. I was much better off in two happy homes than one miserable home. I know people cheat anyway, and everyone knows about it, even kids. i.e. Jerry Springer Show, Cheaters (show), Maury Povich Show, etc. But the way the Madison ad is worded is as though cheating is ok, and promoting that cheating on your ugly wife is no big deal and tgat u should go to this website to find someone who will cheat with you. You can say that homosexual marriage is based on love, but couldn't an adulterer say the same if they are committing adultery if they aren't receiving the love in their marriage that they need and they look outside their marriage for that love? They may see divorce as a worse alternative than committing adultery.

@whodatdere Well, as someone who had a dad that committed adultery, and as someone who has many close homosexual friends, it easy for me to see the difference. Adultery hurts the family unit and all involved. Divorce also hurts children, but it's better than living in a family that's constantly fighting over adultery. Homosexuals aren't hurting anyone, they are simply being who they are - the way God made them.

@whodatdere NO, your "God" did not make "adulterers the way they are" = they are only adulterers AFTER they CHOOSE, i repeat, CHOOSE, to get married. You can't be an adulterer outside marriage. Homosexuality and physical attraction are natural. Adultery, however is NOT. Do not equate physical attraction with adultery, and adultery or cheating with homosexuality. They're all different and you are clumping them all in one batch.

I also know that we could debate back and forward about homosexuality being a choice vs. born into people. It just depends on who you ask really...even if you go scientific. I neither equate physical attraction to adultery, nor do I equate it to homosexuality. I do however equate the act of having sex outside of marriage and having sex with someone of the same gender because THAT IS a choice.

You can't be double talking on saying homosexuality may be a choice, and then assert heterosexuality is not, that's why it's called sexual preference. You are attracted to what you FEEL, not choose, is attractive. Moreover, you are arguing on the premise of an existence of a "God", which is highly improbable. It is possible (well, anything is), but improbable.

Now if two men have an exclusive sexual relationship, they can't "naturally" hope to do so without fear of contracting a disease due to the nature of the sexual contact. This means that if someone is robbing a bank, which causes harm, they need to be stopped. If they're committing some "mortal sin" such as homosexuality or adultery, it's only their self who will burn in hell.
So, let them decide whether they feel like cheating or being gay. It really has nothing to do with you. It is not doing you any harm.

I will say, also, that this goes in all contexts. If physical harm is not being done to another or to property, it's no one else's business. Even in a classroom. If a student chooses not to pay attention, teachers are trained not to stop teaching in order to gain their attention. It's the student's own problem if they choose to make a poor decision that affects only their own learning.
As long as it's not hurting anyone, leave them be.

Obviously no situation is black and white. Yes, cheating is punished in school, and rightly so. I think it falls into a grey area, as in the real world, this is considered plagiarism because in the real world, this would be stealing. The ideas would be stolen for profit. I was wrong to bring school into this, for it is not the real world, and as such, doesn't always apply.

Lying for instance...done in a certain situation may be rationalized, but the act of lying is still wrong. You may have lied to save a life, and understandably so, but a lie is still a lie and can't be called anything else. I'm not saying that I wouldn't do the same if I was in the same situation, but I understand that I gotta account for all I do that's wrong. Think about it.

@whodatdere Education is defined as the socialization process. It is what gets human beings to the point of being contributing citizens. It doesn't exactly work the way the real world does. For instance, students are not allowed to fail. If they do, the teacher is fired (at least that is how it works in the US). In the "real world" if you fail, your boss doesn't get fired: You do.
School works differently because it has a different purpose. Once you're an adult, you're already "socialized"

@whodatdere Well, fortunately, I don't teach in the United States, so it's a little bit different here. However, I do, to an extent, believe in the idea behind no child left behind. I don't believe in the teachers who go so far as to, as you say, "set [them] up for failure". If done properly, it keeps people FROM failing by giving them the chance to succeed. But like I said, it must be done properly. AND that's another debate entirely.

This company presents people with an opportunity to do something that is not illegal. Every time you see ads for alcohol or tobacco, you are witnessing the same level of "immorality". Eating a Happy Meal is a poor lifestyle choice as well...but McD's markets directly to kids all the time. A 5-year-old is not going to understand the ad in the first place, and it is no more racy than a GoDaddy commercial. What's the real issue? Married people are responsible for the fall of the institution.
