The Hoover dam is an example of gov spending done right. They took on debt to pay for the dam and the debt was paid back with the electricity created from the dam.

Fast forward to now, what jobs are the gov creating? Census jobs, bailing out poorly run corporations and so on, If the gov was using the money to invest in self liquidating projects (like the dam) that NEED to be created (like the dam), then that would be money well spent.

The problem with that is that our gov is so big and corrupt, that they do things politically instead of what should be done and we end up with crazy things like corn ethanol. Corn ethanol is probably one of the worst things we should be putting resources into. Corn ethanol is a net energy loser.

Army jobs are the most destructive jobs in the economy, although I think you sound like you are being sarcastic. If not, try to remember, jobs have to be productive. We could outlaw bulldozers and put everyone to work, but what good would that do us?

Remember, it takes a great deal of energy to ship products all over the world and that eats up the savings. Japan is a net exporter and has the highest wages in the world. The US gov owns Amtrak, no wonder it's always late and expensive.

The stimulus money has helped the co I work for via a company that produces electric buses. We make parts for those buses and their sold all over the world. Our county has quite a few older bridges that have needed repair or replaced for a long time. They are being take care of now because of stimulus money. So, there are jobs being created, through the stimulus.

It's not my logic, it's how the gov works. It gets it money through taxation.
