that genrally happens when the FastForward button the little key on the inside gets jammed and it occasionally does that it happened to me and i had to open up my ipod nano and move the touch disc a lil bit to the right. hope this helps.

Hey man, I think your music database was corrupted and it is trying to find the actual mp3s in the drive but when it finds each entry and tries to find the corresponding file it does not find it. Try restoring the iPod with iTunes. It should work.

that thing happened to me, at first it was only a few songs that it skipped , so what i did was that i restored the ipod and syncronized it again. bu afet a few month it happened again so i went to see what was wrong with it, and they told me that the hard drive of the ipod was broken, and that to repair it the new hard drive costed as much as a new ipod so i bought a new one.
