  • Sorry to correct you kaiwhara, but it wasnt a westinghouse L.

Deal Street Signal Box had a westinghouse style K frame,(designed by W.A. Pearce).

  • Westinghouse L Frame, love working these!

  • Good to see a hairy bloke working a box. I thought at one time that there was only me and some guy I once saw in Dewsnap Sidings LOL

  • 20154 "One of the best looking loco's in preservation" as written in Railway's illustrated.

for the latest pictures of 20154 goto the English Electric Preservation Website

  • Call Attention.!.....Pffff, Only cos you were being video'd !!

  • Hmmm... I am not sure what you are saying ???

Are you perhaps implying that the "call attention" wasn't always used... The very thought...

  • looks like there were a lot of layout changes at this location from your videos

IO(s that a relief line running by the box?

  • The box had many layout changes during the time I worked there. Sadly, none of them were for the better. I am not sure what line you a referring to as a relief line. If you are interested, I can direct you to a photo of the diagram I posted online. It should explain everything.

  • I work at Wakefield Signal box, so I caught it. Healey Mills is the second box up from me.

  • Do you say, "aye, engine Healey Mills?"

  • Indeed I did... 1 light locomotive bound for Healey Mills !!!!!

I didn't think anyone would pick up on that.

  • When you say 'Exchange' do you mean the long platform at Victoria, or were there sidings being used for stabling on the site of Exchange station at the time?

  • There were two through platforms known as 18 and 19. These were originally Exchange platforms 6 and 7. There were also 2 through lines known as the up loop and the down through. Up until the end of newspaper traffic in the 1980's, 18 and 19 were used for paper trains (as was Victoria platform 11). They were often used for stabling freight trains whilst awaiting margins. When West Junction closed, 18 and 19 became sidings accessed from Deal Street only.

  • In the Class 37 clip I added last night, there's s shot of 2 37's on the down through. I was standing on Platform 18 (Exch P6) whilst filming. Hope that Helps.

  • CORRECTION !!!!!!

Platforms 18 & 19 were Exchange 4 and 5. 1 and 2 were bay platforms, 3 was joined to victoria Platform 11. Ooops.

  • I was on that tour with the two 26's, The Cumbrian Tynesider it was called, definitely one of the best tours I've ever been on. Never thought I would see a vid of it though..!

  • I said it before Jim, it's a small world.
