The U.S. goal was scored on a Dutch defensive breakdown - most of the Dutch defense seemed to think there was an offside trap going on, one defender did not, and that allowed two US players to slip through and Bocanegra to score without being offside.

The first Dutch goal was a total dive. Bornstein has been unfairly singled out for having fouled the guy.

The second Dutch goal was a total fluke - an unpredictable deflection off a US defender. Nobody at fault there either.

USA was just unlucky. thats just how soccer goes. although I will say we need a better target player uptop than altidore. not that he isnt a great player b/c we all know that he is, but he's not a threat like messi, rooney, or torres who can create all on his own.

USA got alot more better facing teams that are strong, we now lose to them by 1 goal, when we face Czech Rep. and Turkey in May, we are going to do really well. Mexico on the other hand is going to lose when they face strong teams in May becuase they only spend time facing weak teams so they can win and make its fans think that Mexico is the best.

@Chitownboy1023 Ha dude you need to chill for a sec. If you put Gooch back in the mix and remove Bornstein then thats a solid back 4 (if I remember correctly its the same 4 that locked down spain). Also in the midfield you're going to find Clint Dempsey. He's showing promise to be a great success and a no brainer starter. Donovan hasn't produced much out on the left there and he's an impact player. If you put Donovan and Dempsey in the middle together then that could be very exciting.

Bornstein did not perform well at all, hes just the backup everybody. Bocanegra had to get moved to a centerback cus Gooch is injured. Hopefully Gooch will get in there with Bornstein out and Bocanegra back to leftback. Take out Torres and Holden and replace them with Ricardo Clark and Dempsey! Well Dempsey is injured sadly... And Findley? He sucks fat weiner. Put Conor Casey in the front!!!

De Jong should have been red-carded. That was a really dangerous tackle, and it's just a friendly! Overall, I was pleased with the USA's performance... we got no help from Lady Luck or the refs, and we lacked creativity, but we held our own against one of the top teams in Europe. I wonder, how ought we deal with the lack of attacking verve?

Netherlands scored on two BS goals. You gotta believe that with Onyewu on the back line instead of Borenstein, at least one of those goals (if not both) do not occur, just bounce Bocanegra or DeMerit outside when Gooch gets back.

Bornstein seriously hurt his chances of being in the starting XI in South Africa this game. The deflection wasn't really his fault but the foul that led to the penalty... you really can't do stuff like that on the national level, plus the handball he got away with. I thought Beasley was great though, one assist and denied a 1 on 1 scoring chance with the keeper by an academy award-worthy dive by De Jong. Not a bad showing from the USA in my book.

Bradley NEEEEDDS To bring FREDDY ADU into the team. he's the only one with A LOT of creativity Torres, Dempsey, and Donovan, got that too. but Donovan and Clint shouldn't be doing this, they should be attacking. Bradley says he doesnt bring him cuz not enough playin time. but now that he does and is playing really well he still doesnt call him up. M. Bradley is just a player with no brain out there he goes into takles with out thinkin and doesnt even do much. Put Freddy and torres in the mid

At 1:11 if you freeze frame, you can see the severity of the injury but good thing it wasn't a broken leg. That is a red card on De Jong any way you look at it and what is worse is that the official is so close to the play. On another note, Bornstein with yet another bonehead penalty like the one against Slovakia. Should have been two penalties on Bornstein but the official let the blatant handball slip. If a player is having a bad day, take him out, even Pearce is a better option.

This game made us realize how our outside backs are either on or off...today they were very weak and they were exploited. Demerit had a pretty good game though. Same as the majority of our midfield, though Landon was invisible. But hey, welcome back Beasley -- and pray for Holden.

Note: Howard did all he could again, with no mistakes he could've prevented.
