I'm assuming 3 people in a feud of excitement hit the "dislike" button in an attempt to press the "like" button. Dude this is a nice setup, and tasty patches you got goin there.
yeah, the synths are producing the sounds, but some drum pads can do this sort of voltage controlled triggering right through the machine drums line ins.
great stuff! Way to explore/experiment & groove @ the same time. Many times the beat is sacrificed for the sounds & kinda loses me.You've got both covered here very well.Interesting to see & hear & probably to perform as well.
Awesome stuff man, I really liked your old Ableton jams, but glad to see you are taking things into new directions. I hope you haven't completely abandoned Ableton though, it's a great piece of software.
I´d love to see you hook up with a band, somebody like Restiform Bodies, your beats would go well with their take on hip-hop. Check em out on Myspace if you aren't familiar.
very cool! Do you keep in sync with the machines, and if so, how? By the lights? Do you have a click track in there somewhere? Or are all the LFOs and effects running in and our of sync with your playing?
i haven't yet made any "tracks" with this setup I prefer to just release this as improvised performance. Some Kamoni house releases are on itunes though.
What drumKAT is this? Is this the dk10 or a newer version? I am looking into one and am not sure which on to get....Thanx in advance and thanx for these dope ass beats...peace
I think that is an interpretation, or rather a misinterpretation, on your part. "Intelligent" is used as a descriptor to further define "Dance Music". Thus, it is of the Dance Music genre, but more brainy and 'composed' as opposed to just banging out phat beats, yo.
well personally tbh I don't really care what anyone calls music but I do feel that the adjectives "intelligent" and the opposite "stupid" would be better classified as opinions rather than genres. When using words like "ambient" and "jumpup" and "tech step" at least we can, mostly, agree on the definitions of each.
FYI: Elektron created a playlist of user videos showcasing their machines, and put your video on it! it's on their youtube channel

i just thought up the illest beat i could've made with the basic pattern around 0:25. sheesh

@calypsobomber
You use MIDI to controll the Elektron gear. One model of the machinedrum has sampling capabilities and if I'm not mistaken it's the priciest one.

LFO's running through the patches, retriggering samples and stuff like that.
ddaynyc 2 years ago
Tell me, how many velocities does the drumkat produce out the midi line?
OfficialNeilGard 2 years ago
You can actually hook up your pads right into the line ins and it records velocity via voltage control or something. really wild.

You are a talented musician... If you ever want to make a
VJ type video give me a call?

Good move on the Kat. Amazing how something that came out so many years ago just puts all the competition to shame.
I'm curious why the total shift to hardware, though. What do the Elektrons offer you that Ableton and a good soundcard couldn't provide?

That setup right there will set you back more than 3000-4000 dollars in US Dollars. Expensive but great if your into making IDM.

At least that is what I take away from it.

I like the new sound/technique. Ableton is cool and all, but I still dream of having a bunch of equipment to replace a sketchy iBook.

really cool!!!
It's seems the sound settings change while you're playing them, are there any LFOs on the Sounds? The Sequencers arent playing any Modulations?
tubewatch66 3 years ago
seqs aren't on at all. yep lots of LFO action happening ;)
