  • Cute

  • Living with fish is an interesting hobby

  • Can I keep one in an aquarium?

  • who would buy a 2,000 dollar fish

  • @100nquinn Koi Fish can live a few hundred years, so people who really like koi get them because they often will live several generations of a family.

  • how can o stop my pond from freezing over??

  • @0h4yd3n0 in my pond i just put a tennis ball and it will float around and stop the pond from freezing all the way over

  • Nice ogon

  • they even look like they have those long japanese moustaches!

  • We have koi here in Philippines which, 5-8 inches cost Php150 ($3) each, and as a beginner its cheaper one.

  • how many koi can live in a 1500 gallon pond

  • @wwily123456 the general rule is 1 inch per 10 gallons, so you could keep 150 inches of koi. Assume a grown length of about 24-30 inches for a koi, so you can keep 5-6 koi in that size pond. That is, if you have proper filtration.

  • 2000$?

  • hi chris i have a question for u. We have a few koi we've had them for a year and a half they have always been very active but for some reason the past week they arent eatting well and they are laying around on bottem alot any idea why?

  • those koi's are most certainly NOT healthy....look at the size of their eyes..

  • you now what i do? i go to the koi dealer, choose the ones that are healthy and have good hi markings etc..ask the guy to net it and pay money.. there

  • Koi enjoy being in packs of 3 ormore because they tend to be a schooling fish. So if to only have 1 koi it may result in stress witch causes shortens life span and or result in death. Pleas check out my channel and look at my giant feeder dish video. To many people it will look over stocked but goldfish enjoy that.

    Sirskill101

  • hi i just buy my koi and the next day it died in my qeustion is it ok if i buy 1 koi only....

  • anyone know why a koi fish is developing thick silver scales around it gills and end of tail?

  • double koi fish all the way across!!

  • thnx 4 posting i posted 2 my myspace 4 my friends to see hope u dnt mind thanks

  • vise versa

  • Is that ok to breed a koi if the male is bigger than the female?

  • how many gallon for 33 baby koi fish 6 cen

  • how many gallons do you need for 33 koi fish baby 6 centimetres

  • yeah, keep em in a fish tank. u dont know about it!

  • 2000 that is very cheap. tell me where u get ur koi

  • how big of a tank can you put a koi in

  • Why are they banned in some aussie states? what happens if you're caught with them? just asking...

  • Koi means Carp.. or love. Not fish :)

  • Koi is fish in Japanese.

  • In the winter when the temp drops below 50 and you bring them inside do you stop feeding them.

  • u stop feedin them, but if the pond is 4ft under or more the koi just hibernate there

  • so basically no matter what in the winter inside or outside you stop feeding them

  • u stop feedin them cuz the food can rot inside the fish. if u have a 4ft deep pond leave the fish outside. if u dont put it in a indoor tank

  • rubbish all carp are 100% freshwater and require no heating at all in fact they are feral in places like england and new zealand and the ponds/lakes regulary freeze over they are so happy in their environment that the even hybridise with common and mirror carp to create a hybrid called ghost carp similar to ghost koi sold in fish shops

  • @armyfreak12345543211 Actually koi need up to .04% of salt in their water. I know that is a miniscule ammount, but the salt is needed to prevent health issues such as dropsy. Trace ammounts of salt are found in almost any natural fresh water like rivers, lakes, and streams. However in a captive invoronment like a koi pond, or aquarium there is no salt unless added.

  • true true but still

  • hmm i dont no if its me or not but they look more like carps then koi

  • koi are carp

  • @armyfreak12345543211

    Hehe yeah

  • kinda,but don't grow as big

  • their cousins

  • no koi are direct desendants of cypris carpio the common carp sooo actualy ur wrong

  • koi is a type of carp fyi.

  • general the rule is those koi fish are from japan. once they leave japan they can not go back to japan. I really can't find the difference to japanese vs american koi. I think it is like mutt vs. purebreed. certain people value purebreed fish. Kohako fish

  • $2000? tell me where those fish are. i will catch one myself.

  • there orginated from Japan, but i dont no which pond are they in...type your country and search thats the best way

  • well you its hard to find a really pretty one in the wild, but from my reaserch.u might find one where wild carp live k.this guy in Sydney,Aus.caught a huge one.

  • The title is "How to buy koi for your pond" you buy koi by going into the store and giving the cashier money

  • how much do they cost?

  • yes i change the water normaly ,yes they come up to eat,i've got them for 2 weeks now,and what i meant to say that they always tend to hide, but at night i see them swimming in the aquarium ....sorry about my english

  • They may just not be used to you et. it can take fish a long time to get used to you. Or if they are in a pond, maybe there is a predator that's been bugging them

  • my koi fish are very healthy but i find them always hidden, always sitting on the bottom of the acuarium,i don't know why...is this a normal???

  • How can you say "my koi fish are very healthy" and then say except they always sit on the bottom.. Do they come up to eat? Do you do partial water changes? How long have you had them?

    No, its not normal.

  • koi normally sit on the bottom because either the water is to cold or they are unhealthy

  • sometime in january our pond froze completley over the top....i would wake up and pull ice that was like half and inch thick off the top....there still thriving

  • koi likes cold water

  • Koi doesn't "like" cold water they can live in it, yes. They "like" a temperature of 20C-25C, which is warm water.

  • Wow. You know nothing about fish.

  • Kois don't necessarily need to live in a heated pond, they are naturally from japan, where it gets really cold. During the winter time, the koi simply don't eat, they will be fine though, as long as the pond surface doesn't completely freeze up.

  • I agree with you Reflip02, our Koi live in Southern Illinois and we stop feeding them when the water temp drops below 55 degrees, otherwise (I guess) the food decomposes in the fish's GI tract and the toxins kill it. Be sure your water depth is below the freeze line and the water surface doesn't freeze over completely so the CO2 will diffuse out and the O2 in.

  • yeah my mum had a 7 foot deep koi ponf years ago, it used to freeze over in winter so my mum used t go out every day and broke it, they never eat when its cold.

  • @Reflip02 when it's cold, you need to feed them less, this is because their metabolism and digestive track slow down to near a halt. This could make your fish sick if food goes bad in their stomach.

  • koi can grow to a couple of feet man o.O

  • i think u;re aiming for 1000gal for an adult koi

  • does any one want to buy 10 koi fish live in seaside Ca

  • I'd like the koi. How much are they? how big? I live in Fullerton Ca. Can you deliver them?

  • 3-4 feet

u need a pond unless you have a huge tank

  • wait, i thought koi were kind of like goldfish in that they like cold water...

  • got a pond most expensive one is only €330 a goshiki :) looking nog for a good kohaku

  • i have a big pond

  • can i have a koi in a tank?

  • yes i have koi in a tank just dont over crowd it

  • how fast do they grow and if i buy a 3" koi which size tan k i use and how long till it overgrows it

  • well imi am no expert but my tank is 26 inch x 24 x 16 and i have 7 small one in there id say my tank is the minimum to have. depends how much you feed them but they be ok for 2 years i guess before too big maybe longer. check my videos

  • it depends on the space available for the koi to grow, the blood line, the food you feed them, and the water quality, ofcourse the common koi you can buy for 10 dollars would not grow too if it has bad bloodline thats why the koi hobby can easily burn a hole in your wallet although theyre truely beautiful fish. =]

  • i saw a 9 foot long koi

it was for sale for 2 grand

    its from japan

  • Theres no such thing as a NINE foot koi and if there ever was it would be more around $100, 000 dollars..... not 2k..

  • its breed is not nice the color is black

  • Yes just make it 45 gallons or over so they can grow! :D

  • yah i know. alot of their info is 100% wrong. i commented on alot of there vids, correcting their mistakes. lol

  • they are all one koi, same speies, just diff color. and in winter, koi dont eat and their matabilizism slows down an thats y u dont feed them in winter. if u do, the food will spoil in their stomach and kill them. they can thrive in any water conditioins.

  • yeah wat he said although you can by winter food low protien foods and a heater is an unesscary heater do you think the japanese need a heater because this video sucks stupid expertvillage

  • cool! very informative. thnx if you have anymore please share.
