Detroit techno grew out of a number of influences at the time. New Wave music, for some reason, was huge in Detroit during the spring and summer of 1979. Alice Cooper's Clones and the B-52's Rock Lobster were giant hits in the black community at the time. Kraftwerk Trans Euro Express, and any number of underground records were booming out of people cassette decks and crappy car stereos at Belle Isle and Palmer Park parking lot. $1 joints and Old E were mixed in with WGPR and Mojo at night.
@wayjac67 wasnt nothing like growing up in da D.i dont give a fuck that my muthafuckin hometown and i represents it to da fullest even if i have been in vegas da last 20 years
This is one of the all time greats in the techno tree... definded the detroit techno scene which later spawned the chicago house scene... as for one of the comments below, the true "Techno" pioneers of this type of sound were in Detroit, Kraftwork is a different type of sound and they are not the first either the earliest I know of are the great dutch pioneers, Tom Dissevelt & Dick Raaymakers :) so all inall they are all great contributors :)
is the singer affecting a germanic accent?... weren't kraftwerk german? i do know that porsche is german though! and i do know that detroits claim to be the true creators of techno to be pure bullshit.
wow awesome chicago techno house, 1980's, 5 stars. Music was at its best in 1980's for house music, nowadays the sound has been lost to commercialism, all sounds same nowadays, rock da house, this tune is rocking

Juan Atkins said Alleys of Your Mind and Cosmic Cars came first, and that Sharevari was pressed with 1981 on it to make it look older. I believe him.
