They where not French, but Canadien and since it his in ''les pays d'en haut '' maybe metis or half breed has you call them...so kind of sympathic to their cousin or brother in law... and don't forget the british and british colonial use to kindly tell them to speak white, when they speak french, and that until 1976.

seems innacurate the use of ''French Canadian'' start to be in use during the mid 19 century around confederation time.
Prior to that Canadien which his translate to Canadian was the name use, and only for french speaking.

Had we lost it, America would've been conquered by France. We would've been ruled with an iron fist and had no freedoms, religious or otherwise. Britain bankrupted herself to protect us in that war and we thanked them with a fratricidal rebellion.

A great adventure doing this film. I was in it from the first couple of weeks in training with British and French manual of arms, to the end. A great bunch of guys to work with, I played Col Mercer as well as other various parts. "Poise your firelocks"!
