  • I'm another music fan that knew about Baldry thanks to the "Pingas/piness" fad. Now I have most of his records: He, Brian Auger and Johnny "Guitar" Watson introduced me to Blues.

And I still love all the "pingas" thingie! Admiration must not reduce the fun!

When I see that Baldry is rarely referenced on books about British Blues, I really feel outraged, as he was a reference to stars like Rod Stewart, Elton John, Paul McCartney, Brian Auger, Mick Jagger, and even Eric Clapton

Well earlier in the interview, John did state that Clapton has gone on record and stated that without John Baldry there would be no Eric Clapton.

Yes, I remember that: Go figure how British Blues could have evolved without that encounter, when John and Alexis Korner were the "leaders of the pack": No Cream, no Blind Faith, no Derek & The Dominoes, etc, etc.

John had a clinic eye when it came to discover new talents and was a funny voice actor. Bless his memory.

  • Long John Baldry was Awesome! =D
