but BluRay would be nicer. especially since prices for those drives reach a region where you can afford them. They are still kinda rare in laptops of this size
i've always found your laptops to be very thick but reliable. will you release a 15.6" version with a numeric keypad? i recently bought an ASUS UL50, the dimensions of which are terrific but the low voltage processor is really slow. i'm sure there is a large market for laptops with larger screens and thinner chassis (less than 1") that do not sacrifice CPU power and battery life.
@Vishalca: I ‘ll tell you the difference. We Canadians get crappier model and higher price. This is the difference. Why the original Portege line became the Tecra line in Canada with way lower performance and way higher price, because Toshiba thinks we Candians are rich brianless idiots!!!
On Toshiba UK website, the localised models have 32-bit version of Windows 7; and on the EU and USA sites, they are 64-bit. Why does the UK only get 32-bit?
@racdba You cannot contact Tim directly unfortunately, but you will have the option to customize a Portege R700 directly from our website at ToshibaDirect some time in July. Stay tuned -- we're working on it. We'll post a link to it in the video description as soon as it is available.
@toshibalaptops Now I can see on the website that it can customized and offers some decent choices. Are there in super performance laptops from toshiba in pipeline..I mean something like a Lenovo W510 or HP Envy etc..
are there any plans for slimbay adapter for 2nd hard drive or Core i7 920/940XM with 16gb RAM. If it can be sqeezed inside any of your porteges, it will be great package..of course niche..
This brings my Portege R600 to shame :(

You should make an amazing laptop this epic every year. Not just after 25 years :D
I hate low-voltage stuff; Intel i3 for the win!
