  • Also, do you play Brass ?... In fact, as for many other symphonic organ pieces transcriptions for Brass do work very well ! As one of many examples: Eugène Gigout's Grand Choeur Dialogué !

  • @jmcgatkinson: I am very thankkfull for your comment. Yes indeed you understood it all: Have you ever heard Pierre Cochereau's ultimate 1968 version of the Suite Gothique at Notre-Dame ? (that will always be a first and all inspiration to me for this suite) A friend organist told me about the ''impact emotionnel'' this suite had to have to make effect, having precisely to have contrasted tempos between the movements as you say ! I shall in fact record all of the Suite sometime getting sooner.

  • Some would consider this rather slow; I think a rather fitting tempo to contrast with the following 'Menuet'. This gives a good illustration of the instrumental capabilities of the organ. I know that if this were transcribed for brass ensemble a lot of staggered breathing would be necessary to carry it, particularly the tubas..
