This band has yet to make a bad record I LOVE the new sound even if it's like there old stuff because it seems that Emery is getting back to the roots of the band because if we all look back to the days of Walls we can see that all they did is make another great record that is symbolic to the old Emery.
@VOXDRUMLINEGOD You are exactly right. Too many people started listening to Emery in 2007 when they made I'm Only a Man. Because of that they think Emery is going hardcore "for publicity." That couldn't be farther from the truth. They created another hardcore album because Devin (The lead singer, for those that don't know) was leaving (well, is gone now) and they wanted to do one more hardcore album before he left. All of Emery's stuff is good, though.
@BoneyPlatypus for one thing...Devin isn't "the lead singer"...that's more Toby. Devin is Co-vocals. and the other thing is Devin had nothing to do with this album. Emery was writing an acoustic album and then Devin said he was leaving...so after he left, the rest of the band figured they could finish the acoustic album or write something new...but the last 2 song on this album are from what they wrote when they were writing the acoustic album..everything else is just Toby, Matt, Josh, and Dave.

You know a band is good when a good majority of their fans have different favorite albums. In Shallow Seas... followed by I'm Only A Man for me though The Question is effin' brillant.
In Shallow Seas is my favorite so far because of the pure genius in the vocal constructions (some of the best harmonies ever), but this album is definitely catching up. ^_^ I can't say I really dislike any of them though.

I do really enjoy this, but must people always say "Yes! this sounds like old Emery!" I don't think it sounds anything like old Emery, less emotional and more fast paced. Still a great step in evolving the band's sounds however! Rock on Guys!
They have been getting progressively heavier with each album. So many of you shouldn't be surprised. I am absolutely in love with this. Cannot wait to get this album and see them this Saturday. :)
This kind of has the melody that the songs in "The Question" has. Its just a little bit heavier. Just have to wait and see how the whole album sounds once it comes out.
Sick of people whining about it being "too heavy." It's honestly not that much heavier than some songs off The Question. Just sounds like the same band making a new album, it's bound to be different. Stop crying and just enjoy it for what it is.
No one combines melodical riffs, guitar harmonies and vocal harmonies quite like Emery. Their songs are some of the most dynamic I have ever heard. Never bored listening to Emery!

Everyone ripping on "I'm Only A Man" is ridiculous. It was a fantastic album, and since when is a band evolving and maturing a bad thing?

so its true devin is leaving...this makes me so so sad. he has one of the most beautiful voices ive ever heard. his screams are powerful and raw. hopefully hell stay in long enough to tour for this album :[
