When I'm talking about "Tsifteteli Oriental" as a Greek-Arabian belly dance, I'm not talking about the origin of the traditional Greek Tsifteteli, but only of this specific dance on this video, which is a personal creation of mine, my personal Greek-Arabian fusion. The traditional Tsifteteli is another capital and I have another video with it here.

Yes, you are right, it is a bit like modern arabic-baladi dance, because I mixed arabic and greek elements (plus a bit hip hop in this case ;-) ). Since I am also a Raqs Sharqi dancer, I created this greek-arabian mix and I call it Tsifteteli Oriental :-)
(this was supposed to be the first message): Chryssanthi is the only Greek bellydancer who is famous on international scale. She is often engaged for workshops and shows in Greece, Canada, Ukraine, Germany and many other European countries. In Germany she is both reference for Arabian Raqs Sharqi, as well as for Greek traditional and of course, Greek Tsifteteli and Tsifteteli Oriental dance.
Beside that she has invented a new style, a mixture between Raqs Sharqi and Greek Tsifteteli, called Tsifteteli Oriental. I admire Chryssanthi a lot, both as a high-profile dancer and wonderful pedagogist and teacher.

Yes, you are right, it is a bit like modern arabic-baladi dance, because I mixed arabic and greek elements (plus a bit hip hop in this case ;-) ). Since I am also a Raqs Sharqi dancer, I created this greek-arabian mix and I call it Tsifteteli Oriental :-)

(this was supposed to be the first message): Chryssanthi is the only Greek bellydancer who is famous on international scale. She is often engaged for workshops and shows in Greece, Canada, Ukraine, Germany and many other European countries. In Germany she is both reference for Arabian Raqs Sharqi, as well as for Greek traditional and of course, Greek Tsifteteli and Tsifteteli Oriental dance.

Beside that she has invented a new style, a mixture between Raqs Sharqi and Greek Tsifteteli, called Tsifteteli Oriental. I admire Chryssanthi a lot, both as a high-profile dancer and wonderful pedagogist and teacher.

Hi Suma Thugg. Thanks for your nice commentary :-) The name of the song is "To Tzini" (which means "the dschinn") and the name of the singer is Christos Pazis. This song was a big hit in Greece last year.

A great mix between Tsifteteli and Modern Dance. You dance it in a very enthusiastic way. One can see that you really have pleasure dancing. Beside that I like the song very much.
