Scouts aka 19 details, are trained on everything the infantry use. We are trained for mounted and dismounted missions, We can do alot more than infantry, because we are highly mobile, and can dismount. With out us you'd be in theater lost with your dick in your hand. The jack of all trades, trained on all weapons, including explosives, and calling for fire, recon by fire, screens, convoy protection, camouflage, OP setups, AND MORE...Privates from basic are required to know more task, than 11b.
"19D can do more than Infantry" The only thing scouts can relate to is Mechanized Infantry, 19D can't ruck like us, can't jump (Airborne), Air Assault and strait up aren't train for combat like us, we both know the mission for 19D which is NOT to engage the enemy, as for Infantry our mission is to locate, close in and destroy the enemy. That's the only reason we exist but now all Infantryman are trained as scout, engineer and medic so who can really do more?
@guillermob3 they have scouts in the 82nd and you can get any school but that's based on your command. in Iraq scouts are used as infantry and every one in Iraq is mechanized. no one leaves the fob on foot. in Afghanistan you get to be a real scout, i mean go out in a 6 to 9 men team and go stalk hajis for days or even weekst. @guillermob3 19D is obviously able to cover allot more ground with aggressive patrolling, something that was missing in Iraq due to massive undermanning from the very start of the invasion, and as far as I know is STILL a big problem.
An infantry patrol that walks into a registered zone of an 8.2 centimeter mortar, could be in big big trouble. An armored car platoon is able to spread out more, is able to concentrate much faster, and is consequently less vulnerable.
I think I heard that scout training is gonna be at Benning by 2011 or sooner because it gonna be part of the infantry and 19D will be no more it will be part of 11X or something like that.

Really that's cool, I heard that some Cav Scouts were an unofficial RECON Tab on their PT's I don't know if that's true or not but we don't have any scouts in my unit because we're not a mechanized so its good to hear scouts are getting some recognition even though i still think they should give the LRRP's a RECON tab.
@guillermob3 AFAIK a LRP tab is only granted on an Ad Hoc basis for particular units that actually go way-way out onto the tip of the spear in an active theater, not merely for training to do so. In some respects it’s awarded like a combat infantry badge. 173rd Airborne Brigade was like this according to Vietnam Conflict memoirs.
Im a airborne cav scout and compared to the infantry our mos is harder and more badass than anything else. Without us you 11b boys would go waltzing into a town and get ur asses ambushed!!!

Luckily from what I've seen here in 2/25th ID most of our Infrantry guys are pretty intelligent. But apparently you're just a thickheaded grunt so I'll explain it a bit. First off I don't know why anyone in combat arms would brag about being a queen, but anyway.

In my opinion cav scouts has to be the toughest job in the military. I chose it because i want to try to get in the swat.you have to get over a 90 to qualify

my brother was in Afghanistan and He was 19d nothin fun they just make you do combat operations like a normal grunt just your kicking in the door first and all that computer training shit is b.s. u must be very smart to pass computers in your MOS training with a 600 OR HIGHER K-12 WHICH IS HARD IF YOUR NOT GOOD AT MAP RATIO.

infantry does same stuff. were limited to are job cababilities do to urban warfare. we are not in a jungle where we can do are job. so therefore all combat arms act as infantry, even tankers.

Man I joined last year as 19D. Ft. Knox is a joke, im here in Ft Riley with 1-13cav and its a joke. We deploy end of 08'. If you like doing details everyday. And barley train than 19D is your job. Ive been here like 9months and only done a handfull of training. And no im not in a HHT or HQ plt. Im in a line plt. Its pretty sad. Well best of luck. Try 11B its pretty much the same job with less bs. best of luck to ya.

Hey ocsexsex it sucks to be in 1-13 cav because in our unit all we do is train and it sucks sometimes but your going to wish u had that training when u get here with us in baghdad these mf's are unforgiving and u really wont use most of it here only thing here is efp's and they suck so forget react to contact and all that shit because theres no more insurgents to fight around here they are all up north so you'll just ride around and hope u dont get blown up!! I did this MOS (and returning to it) its hard work 16weeks of Training at the same base with the same instructors, got multiple tests, the Mk19 WILL bite your hand, Love the .50cal and fall head over heels for the M3A2 bradley, and grow to hate tankers
