  • Wake turbulance is evil - you don't know it is therer until you find it. I was solo doing circuits in a flexwing when learning to fly and ended up at almost 90 degrees of roll in a split second after hitting wake turbulance. It taught me to keep well clear and wait 2, 3 or even 4 minutes depending on the size of the one ahead.

  • must have been a very large plane for the wake turbulance to last that long , but well done nice flying

  • That is really cool.Cheers mate for the view.

  • thats a fast little bugger what motor is it please

  • kasperwing ?

  • thats amazing, fuck lucky the plane before wasnt somthing bigger like a 152

  • iS A MAGGIC BIKE/?

  • I feel for you man... Was #2 to land in Cessna 152 behind a L1011. Got sent on an extended down, came back on a 2 mile final and flew right through her wake. Dropped 50ft, stopped like we hit concrete, the started a hard roll to the right. Almost went inverted at 800 agl. Lesson learned!

  • @Hiflier35thCAG Beaut plane the L-1011 is.You were lucky.

  • After another airplane took off? That's not an Airplane he's flying, that's a freaking KITE.

  • what " plane " is this?

  • At first, i thought i was watching an FSX vid with the ezdok add-on. Couldn't tell the difference for the first few seconds

  • air creation ultra trike

  • OMG! The feeling is like I can fly :X

  • RIP headphone users.

  • Sounds like your flying a Vulcan!!! lol! Nice video :)

  • dont think it would be from a wake of another plane,, this plane would have taken off lot sooner than a heavier plane in front made any wake

  • wake turbulance from a bird could toss that ultralight around, lol, have fun,

  • Have fun.. dont kill youself

  • R.I.P. headphones user

  • getting your ass kicked by wake turbulence is standard practice in the trike world

  • @estiedesacrament

YOU JUST MADE MY CASE! AGAIN!!!

  • Comment removed

  • what airport?

  • @atc90atc90

Santa Paula Airport (KSZP) in California

  • @estiedesacrament

You are the one with a great lack of knowledge my friend!!!

Wake turbulance as nothing to do wether is is a jet or prop plane. Wake turbulance is created by the wingtip vortices created when a wing creates lift. Jet wash is another thing. Any airplane creates wake turbulance and it is especially strong during take off a the aircraft has a greater angle of attack, generating stronger wake turbulance.

  • This reminds me of FSX whenever I start my flight immediately.

  • @henery253, ah okay Stearman, I just thought it amusing, because usually you hear "caution wake turbulence from departing 747, or airbus 380 or something big !. But I guess it is all relative !. Great job flying, thanks for the video !

  • @donteatcheese

In US, this is NOT microlight, but light sport category it has 2 seats and Rotax 912 like Flight Design in Europe.

  • Cleared for take off, caution wake turbulence from departing J3 Cub !

  • @jamesrush

This was caused by Stearman, which is much heavier and slower airplane.

  • @henry253 not a fan a jokes huh

  • @henry253 Stearmans create a pretty hefty wake indeed, try following one in a much lighter bipe at a local fly-in..

  • @henry253 Stearman Max speed 117kts with a Cruise speed of 83kts. J-3 Cub Max speed 76kts Cruise speed 65kts. Get your facts straight. Its a damn shame you don't know how to research before you make a bold and retarded comment like that.

  • @henry253

Um, the Stearman is just about 2x faster than a Cub in both VNE and stall speed. Heavier, sure, slower? Not even close.

  • Pretty crazy just how long wake turbulence can linger. Good job keeping things under control.

    Thanks for sharing :)

  • @kujo4242

    Thanks.

  • A bit of turbulance makes the flying a bit more fun.

  • @neil9327

Yeah, but too much fun is not so good !!

  • @neil9327 not in a microlight lol

  • @neil9327 before or after you shit yourself from wondering if you're going down? lol ;)

  • @neil9327 excluding wake turbulence on takeoff lol

  • lol i think u want to waith more thn 3 minutes, this is basic knowledge in every airport around the planet , u wanna wait some time if you have a small plane:)))

  • @nolifemerc

You are absolutely right !! Normally, we can take off before the point other airplane take off and our climb rate is much better than other airplane. But on that day, the strong head wind moved the wake turbulent back on the runway.

  • that is scary ahah especially if youre landing, it feels like riding a mega drop

  • Hi Kevin,

I tinnk I waited more than 3 minutes. The airplane took before me was heavy single engine biplane. If you carefully listen the sound, it still buffering a lot, when I got in the runway.

  • Hi Henry,

I'm guessing you took off at a point on the runway before the previous aircraft left the ground but what was the time between take offs? Just curious...

    Thanks!

    Kevin

  • It's Santa Paula Airport (SZP) in Southern California.

  • @henry253 subbed

  • @henry253 - One of the 152s I teach in (KAUS) has an "I <3 Santa Paula Airport" sticker in the baggage compartment.

  • What airport?

  • where is the throttle lever on a microlight? is it a lever or button, dial?

  • @reedyspeedy12

My trike has two throttle controls. One hand throttle on the front panel, the other is right foot throttle.

  • KSZP! I have flown into that airport.
