Love these cars and will never sell the one I have. Car may not be all correct in the video but who cares, you buy them to enjoy them not make them trailer queens! Mine is not correct as well but I made it the way I wanted it. Thanks for posting the video.
@Cyclone429scj That's great that you have one too..they have to be some of the most rare performance cars out there! I agree about correctness...the important thing is that they appeal to their owners, and as such, are keen on driving and showing them! Thanks! :) Jack
nice. my dad has 2 of the 429 cyclone spoiler. one of them runs low 11s high 10s now pushing 670 hp. you can type in 70 cyclone spoiler and a quarter mile of it will come he got 11.25 seconds. VERY FAST were thinking it cud be the fastest in the world now that theres only 200 left.
Sorry about all the criticism, Just figured for you guys that don't know these cars, you should know the details. This IS an absolutely beautiful car, no doubt...congrats to the owner. I just bought one of these, needing tons of work.
@2ManyFordCars I appreciate the documentation of what's necessary to make this appear original. You did it in a great way...my congrats! What is difficult for me is filming a car and a viewer essentially calling me an idiot because of some irregularity in the car, or error by me. As we know, very few can claim expert status on all cars. For that reason, I generally don't video Chevy SS cars...there are too many counterfeit ones out there, and I simply don't want to get into it. Thanks! :)
These headlight grilles are a hideaways, seems either they are open, or the covers are missing. Magnums were not offered on a Cyclone. Should be chrome trim on each wheelwell. Rear spoiler should be painted body color. Antennae original was teardrop-shaped. Interior pattern is Torino, incorrect grain, pattern. Door panels here seem to be correct pattern but there should be a chrome trim along that inset. Shifter handle should be a Hurst logo w/ the 1-2-3-4 numbers.
Hey guys. FYI: 1970 Cyclone Spoilers are rare cars. 1,631 for 1970. Not to take away the fact that this is a very beautiful car, this particular car has many non-original parts. For one, this med blue metallic color was not a standard Spoiler color. Could be special order. 429 emblem on front fender is incorrect, that's a Torino emblem. Grille should be painted black on Spoilers, different shades of argent/silver on the Cyclone GT/Cyclone....
i too have never seen nor heard of this car was this a canadian version or something like that or was produced for the U.S. too i like this car alot i was blown away
Jack! I have NEVER, EVER Seen this CAR before! ANd I thought I had seem them ALL! I used to buy and sell used cars besides running my restaurant in the mid 80's. And this to me is foreign. LOL. That Nose WOW. I thought it was custom. I like the pods in the dash effect. Hey Jack, I have a question maybe your followers can answer also. What is happening to the future of the IMPALA? I have not seen or heard anything about a new model. Except fake concepts. Thanks Jack!
@gene978 Hey, Gene! As far as I can remember, it was new to me too....Mercury was really pushing the envelope with this one! I haven't heard anything about the fate of the Impala. I hope some viewers have heard.
If I had to guess, I think the nameplate may quietly vanish...perhaps too much of a connection with the old, failed GM. Just a guess! Thanks! :) Jack
This was a time when Mercury really differentiated itself from Ford. Now not only is Cyclone an exciting name that grill and rear spoiler exudes excitement. Too bad that Ford eventually ignored this marque.
@cheddyrod Hey, Chester! So true...Mercury had periods when it really was different from Ford. That was the special ingredient it needed to stay viable...unfortunately, as you say, the marque was ignored. A sure recipe for disaster! Thanks! :) Jack
@XboobtubeX Hey, Bob! Yeah...I've seen a couple down here, but this is in the best condition that I've seen. I don't think I ever saw the Spoiler edition before, though. Thanks! :) Jack
