How come this band never made it outside Finland. i always loved them, have everything they ever did and I have to thank an English freind who lived in Finland for intriducing me to them. Genius !!!!!!!
@darley1958 Short answer: poor management, poor record company with absolutely no understanding about how to export, and the record company went bankrput a few years later. They had one or two gigs in London in 1975 but that is not enough. A crying shame but nothing can be done no more
@ilkkatapio Also the band was reluctant to give a finger to commercial side of music failing to produce listener friendly music. They had a glimpse of it on Nuclear Nightclub but they lost the touch to the stone.
The original version of this song (in Highlights) is taken from Pembroke's Wicked Ivory album. This version is probably closer to a later version (as in Wigwam's live albums or re-release of Dark Album). Great song, in any case.
Jesus Christ! Pedro is a magician! Well, duh, obviously. Look at his moustache and The hat. This is easily in my strictest top ten favourite synth solos...or any solos for that matter, and I have to listen this every day. Even if I don't like the song too much(big fan of the Wigwam, but not my favorite songs)!
I need to get a hat like that to see if I could ever pull such a magic out of it!
Helpottavaa kuunnella kitaraa ilman "pinch harmonics" ääniä,ja soittoa jossa ei ole pyritty 300/ nuottia sekunnissa, pakko sanoa että nautin tästä tavattomasti
I've listened to the track on "Highlights" again and yes the lyrics match the video but as the track is under 4 mins long it doesn't include any of the solo's. Shame, so thanks for the video.
@kestrel011 I think the song is originally from Jim Pembrokes solo album Wicked Ivory 1972 (Love records LRCD 52). He recorded under stage name "Hot Thumbs O'Riley".
@kestrel011 This is definitely "Grass for Blades". It originally appears on Jim Pembroke's solo album "Wicked Ivory" (under the pseudonym Hot Thumbs O'Riley). DEFINITELY worth checking out. It's "out there" in the best way possible.
Uskomaton, "suomi-pop" ei parempaa juuri voisi olla. Loisto biisi. Loisto esitys. WAU.

This is a really haunting, very dark song. There are a few recorded versions including the spooky version on Hot Thumbs O'Reilly.

En tuon Pembroken hapituksesta koskaan erityisemmin välittänyt, mutta Pedro ja co saa tän toimimaan ikihienosti!

Edelleen, kyllä Pedro rokkaa!
Oli vaan tuohon aikaan YLEn kameramiehet melko "kuolleita" ja ohjaaja on ilmeisesti nukkunut tätä kuvatessa.

the album version of grass for blades is much shorter because they run out of tape at the studio....

Is this the correct song title? I bought their "Highlights" album and the piece with that name is nothing like this wonderful track.
kestrel011 1 year ago
I'm quite sure it's correct. When you google the lyrics, you'll find that they match the ones in the video.

@kestrel011 the thing is that this is the same song, but the one in higlights is from that singers solo album.
