  • I like it! where did you get the breaks? I'm in need of some

  • @Fearlessfront I sent a PM.

  • could show me a way i could turn my gear box steering into direct

  • @licam14 My suggestion is to study the pics in "Mows Original build" on this channel. Also check out the heymow forum, do a search, don't join.

  • you really did a good job. You can see that it is done by a professional!

  • @DSLGKC550 Not no professional here, just trying to do a good job and sharing with others.

  • hey mows were did you get your brake for the left side of the axle im looking for something like that i just need the axle hub and disc brake ill run a mechanical brake tho.

  • @V8Mike93 Any way you cut it the disc brake is a pain. I'll send a PM with the list of everything I used on Orange and where I got it.

  • is that just the front end of an early 90's ariens mower or the whole frame too? I got one of these for free and it just needs tires and carbwork...althought I might just throw the Tecumseh out the window lol

  • @Z3CHYD Yes is an early Ariens, the Tec is junk. The frame is junk, so is the steering set up, I have had to EXTENSIVE work on both to get them right. Everything works fine now, but I'd advise don't use it. The frame is way too flexible, the steering pivot in the center underneath is a sloppy, poor designed mess.

  • @mowerspeedracer On "Orange" the old Ariens, it originally had hydrostatic tranny, I had to swap it out for a Peerless 6 speed and lock it, pretty much made the whole thing over, works great now though, was a real challenge. After the rebuild the rear end sheet metal is from an old Craftsman.

  • where did you get the brake setup and how much was it ?

  • @jonycard1 PM sent.

  • @mowerspeedracer thanks for the info

  • If you check out the yahoo group washingtonlawnmowerracers then go to Photos and open up albums labeled - Mows, Orange & Specific Modifications AND Jan 1st you will find more specific pics on may items. Also check out the Links section. A great forum to ask questions.

  • hey how do you lower a lawnmower

  • @TheAnything1777 Study the pics, lower the rear sheet metal, lower the front end by raising the spindles when building in caster, put on smaller diameter tires, lower the bars, that's bout it.

  • what kinda bit did you use to make the key way for the brake disc?

  • @arild365 It's a Carbide End Mill 3/16" DE 4FL SQ made in the USA, has a cutter on each end. The cross feed that the drill press vice is attached to came from Grizzly machine tools. The cross feed has to be accurate and the drill press head stock tight. Can't find the receipt for the end mill, I may have gotten it from Grizzly as well.

  • @arild365 PM sent on end mill and cross feed for drill press.

This is where I got my end mill to cut the keyway in the axle shaft, was slow and tricky to do, practice on something else first, only have the bit travel in one direction, then go back and reset the depth SLIGHTLY lower, a slow process.

    Victor Machinery Exchange End-Mills-Double-End/1890

This is the cross feed I used on my drill press table from Grizzley Industrial Products G8750

  • Nice Mower! Respect!

  • @HilkodeWilde Thank You!

  • Looks good ! Lot of hard work but man it's fun!! Let's go racing.

  • @idahoracer27 I agree completely.

  • @knitestar PM sent

  • It all looks so familiar ;) haha. Nice to see it all come together though.

That engine sounds good too, and it's gonna be good on gas! Was the pulley I got from this? Big thanks for that by the way!

  • @CSAKvids Yup, that was the pulley that was on Orange.

  • Nice work- ive been modding an MTD - used lower profile rear tires, brot the front axle up higher in the chassis, lowered seating position, and drilled the transaxle for zerks- handles tons better then stock.

  • very....very nice!!!!!

  • @NRP1991 I have been wanting to make improvements to Orange for a long time and finally got it done, thanks.

  • Great job! I bet the pulley changes and tire size change will really make the biggest difference. Good luck at your next race. Looking forward to seeing the results of all the changes you made with it. Looking good!

  • @revitup1965 Thanks.
