  • I like your style dude! You rock!

  • wt size of drumsticks you use?

  • @mixsole

    5B, sometimes 5A

  • So jealous that the Bonham style comes so natural to you!

  • How do you know the bass drum patterns? I have been listening that song for a long time and I can not hear the bass drum./

  • @444Guitarboy

I've listened to different live versions (bootlegs) and heard the pattern there.

  • Play you in a Band ?

  • @TheNewChadSmith

no band for now, just sessions

  • DAT TALENT

  • A fude !

  • Great playing !!

  • what ride do you play here?

  • @secorta

    2002 20" power ride

  • Great stuff... but, how come you are NOT using a Speed King Pedal ? Gotsta !

  • @matttdrum

Thanks...I didn't have one then, otherwise I would have :)

  • Nice job bro Ima add these licks to my ensemble, bonham is great and isn't reconived by today's youth which sucks but I least I like him but nice job

  • Three people don't realize talent when they see it...Haters! Great job, love the camera angles!

  • what kind of coating did u get the drums, because it looks like ambassador.

  • @luckyluciano36420

    emperor

  • @luckyluciano36420

    the finish is champagn sparkle

  • wow....nice drumming man

  • were do you get all this led zeppelin withouth the drums??

  • @madbeats101

Still the original recording and the drums are still there, I'm just playing over top.

  • best cover by far and always will be

  • Do you want to be my neighbor? Awsome

  • So glad you are here on youtube showing how to drum with feeling:)

  • This my favorite song to cover. Exact version as well but, I'm a guitar player. I am also a drummer and bassist but I am mostly a Page fanatic!!

  • Sweet heavens you are amazing!

  • What ride are you using? Cymbals? I really love that 2ha4 inch 2002. TOTALY NIT PIKIN!. You got a good tone on the cymbals! I use new beats most of the time playing out. I find 'em a bit more versatile as Pastie are bright and we only do a few Zep tunes. Can you tell me how your tuned, and mic'd? I know Bonzo had his batter heads tight and rs heads looser, is that what your doing? I love the fact your letting the kit "breath" with the way your mic'ed

  • @urajokeMC

See my profile for complete list of equipment I use. Tuning is similar to Bonham but a little lower in pitch. Reso tighter than batter...snare has a very tight reso. 8 mics, 2 on kick, 2 snare, 2 overs, 2 room mics. The room mics give that open sound.

    Thank you for watching!

  • Hell yeah!

Great playing and camera work. This must consume quite a bit of you're time.

The overhead shot rules. I see you have a closeup of the kick foot in another one of your vids. Have you considered keeping the overhead as the main and then adding a small kick foot and maybe a small closeup angle of the HH/snare area?

Whatever the angle you're doing Bonham serious justice and I thank you for it.

  • Tell me, is it comfortable to play with a tom mounted on a snare stand? If I have played a standard tom holder all my life, would it be very difficult to get used to the snare stand? I want a 14x12 tom, and am not sure if I should buy it. Thanks in advance. Great drumming.

  • @grajdrums

The snare stand to support the tom chokes the sound a bit and I have to say it looks cool but won't help your drum sound it's best. If you really want a 14" tom I don't suggest the 12" depth, go for 10" depth for a better tone. Now that I have mounted a 9"x12" tom in place of my 12x14 I prefer it much more.

    Thank you!

  • @GrooveDrummin Yeah, I thought about buying the 14x10, but, unfortunately, I want Sonors or Yamaha, and they don't make such sizes. Ludwig isn't available where I live, neither is Tama. Well, I'll just try out both choices in time. I guess I'll have to start with a tom holder, so thanks for the advice, much appreciated.

  • Great drum cover!! How did you manage to delete the drum track on the original song? I'd like to make a guitar cover of this song, but I'd like to have only my guitar in the final recording.. thanks a lot :)

  • @EnragedSlash

I tried to cut back lower frequencies and extreme highs 14kHz+ on the music track and add them back with my drums. In your case, it would be the playing with the mids. Thanks.

  • @GrooveDrummin Thanks so much, I'll try that as soon I get some free time! Have a great day :D

  • Way to go Dan - Thunderdrumass gave me this link - You nailed that one and you even have Bonhams setup. Great job! I like the angles too!

  • @TheDrumChannel

    Thank you

  • This is the best lep zep cover i have watched, that is some out of this world bass pedal control.

  • Nice Job Dude! Dan the man!!!

Oh...Jason could touch him. But I think Dan could also touch Jason as he prooves here in one of his many videos! ;p)

    Great Job My Teacher! Thanx

  • @AldridgeHalenFreak

UR WELCOME my main man. Thank you!

  • Are you sure that your not John Bonhams son HaHa. Jason Bonham could never touch you !!! Keep rockin Dan!!!!

  • @thunderdrumass

:) Thanks! I met Jason back in '97 when he played my town. I sat beside him after the show and told him how lucky he was to have the "genes" he joked and said yes, Levis. I didn't talk drumming with him, all I wanted to do was "feel" his presence knowing that this is Bonzo's son!!! He played fine that night. He said he misses his family a lot....Thank God he's not drinking the way his dad did, ACTUALLY DIDN'T SEE HIM DRINK AT ALL! Great guy btw!

  • Your drumming has been a massive influence on me man... I have watched this video 20 odd times and have learnt this song beat for beat as a result.

As a drummer with 15 years live and recording experience, I can pay you no bigger compliment!

The guitar on this song is epic too btw.

  • @mackdaddybeats

Thank you so much for your interest in my drumming and I'm glad to be of help. I wish I could post more covers but I have noticed YouTube suspending accounts for copyright infringements.

  • Dan I have to say this is my favorite video. You kick ass and show what drummin is about. You don't add beats that aren't there. I like to watch this before I jam because it gets me pumped. Keep on Rockin. Thanks. Thunder

  • I was given sh*t long time ago about overplaying and since then I have learned how to "hold back" and play FOR THE SONG not show off. I'm glad you noticed :)

Thank you so much for your interest in my drumming!

  • awesome skills man. Glad Im back from Iraq to play with the guys agatn. I want you to play Achilles last stand for me.. That and fool in the rain would be cool.

  • Dan hi from the UK. Amazing playing...amazing! Thank you.

  • Awsome stick work Dan, has to be the closest playing to the great man that I have seen, respect to you my friend, respect indeed.

  • 20" 2002 Power Ride...see my profile for all the details.

  • Hahah dazed and confused just came on the radio as i was watching this, great video!

  • Wow

Just a great job! Dan you are a breath of fresh air. Thanks for taking the time to put this together. I often wish I could have watched the B man play and see his movements.

    Just awsome

  • another great upload Dan!!

  • Another brilliant preformance. I'm so glad you pick the live versions to play. I love the mutiple camera angles, and agree foot cam a must and it would be nice if you could bounce between camera views just a little, especially if you go with the foot cam.

Thanks Dan for all your effort, can't wait till your next vid.

  • Love your vids Dan!!!

  • se nota q te gusta led zeppelin enorabuena esta muy bien echo el video y muy buen toque rockero un saludo

  • You can't beat that heads down view for educational purposes!

  • fantastic drumming as always !!

  • Awsome video, the best cover of this song that i have ever seen. I would suggest as well maybe a foot cam or a different side veiw, perhaps looking in from the left.

  • Awesome cover!! Keep em coming.

  • Fantastic job! Impressive drumming and great sound. The three angles are great, it looks very pro.

However, I agree with dww0902, the two right camera views don't differ very much. You might want to throw in another angle (like the foot cam) to add even more excitement.

  • Thank you! Yes, next vid I'll do that. This is exactly what I need to know so I can provide everyone with what they want to see for easier learning :)

  • the best...

  • Sounds great, looks great!

  • Very sweet! Great sound! *****

  • Excellent!

  • Nice punch!!

  • dude i love this song to begin with... you gave it justice

  • Great Cover!

May I suggest replacing one of the smaller camera views with a "Foot Cam" to display some of that fancy footwork. :)

  • Might i suggest you scare me.....no seriously

  • Agreed! Thank you for the input.
