The NHRA rules are, from 10.0s flat to 11.99s the car must have a 6 point roll bar, and anything under 10.0s the car must have an 8 point roll cage, if you violate these rules you'll be disqualified at an NHRA event.
Here's a 5.0L 2011 Mustang that weighs 400 lbs more than this Vette and has an engine that's 2.0Ls smaller than the ZO6s 7.0L tripping the lights in 8.89s,
Not quite sure what your point about NHRA's rules were, you also need to understand that these runs were made on an N/A engine with PUMP GAS! You and I BOTH know Lethal Performance and all the other 5.0 guys are running C16.
It doesn't always have to be "one OR the other" I am a huge fan of BOTH the Corvette and the Mustang (not so much Mopar, but I'm not a hater either) I have owned several Camaros, and my best friend had a killer '94 GT with a 347 and a procharger.

@bronxboyXXX I don't see a Parachute on the this Vette. My understanding is going 11's you need a roll cage. When you hit 150mph or more through the trap you need a parachute, am i mistaken?
NHRA rules require a "5-6 point roll bar", not a "roll cage" at 11.49 and faster, or above a 135mph trap speed. Once you break 10.0 or 135mph, you need a "roll cage". My track has not given me a hard time at 136mph with my roll bar, but with my new setup in the vette, I should see high 9's at 140-145mph. They might start to give me a hard time. Each NHRA track and the techs react differently to the rules and your times.
@shaketheroad The car is badass but if it were truly an 8 second 1/4 mile run there would likely also be more going on off the line. Even at 9 seconds most cars front wheels start to lift off the ground.

very very nice run , but saying 8 seconds is very fast , faster than saying it ran 8.8 second which is more or less a 9 second pass to me

@budman223 The difference between an 8 second car and a low 9 second car is actually huge. There are tons of low 9 second cars that can't get 8 seconds even after they've been lightened up and have perfect runs etc...

@POPtheoriginal Probably not. It is built as a drag car, which is where it gets it's respect! You would not want to put this car on a road course just to have it get beat by German cars with a 1/4 of the horsepower that this thing has...

Yes it was converted to an automatic. Besides being able to hear it, it says it in the beginning of the video as well. SICK CAR GUYS!
