  • If you've read the first chapter (in the paperback version of PD), then you already know who that character is. Kim said she brought him in when she decided to take the LI out. And like I said, Rachel does a LOT of thinking about Trent and what happened between them at the end of PD. It's amazing how far they've both come since book one in terms of how they relate to each other.

  • Nah, Kim scrapped the new love interest. Thank god! Like that would've made any sense this late in the game. I think she finally realized how nuts that would be and that's why she took him out. She also mentioned that the Trenks/Jenks novella that she wrote shifted some things in her mind so that might've had something to do with her decision too. Or at least I hope. There is a new male character but I didn't get any real romantic vibes from him.

  • Well, they're not "together" together yet but their relationship seems

to be definitely evolving. And I will say that Rachel thinks about

Trent...a LOT. And for his part, the elf just keeps on coming through

    for her. :-)

Did you ever do a review of PD, btw?

  • @roving3 OMGGGGG I have been trying so hard not to have hope because Kim said Rachel was getting a new love interest and I can not handle that sort of pain.

A review of PD would just be me giggling for 10 minutes XD

  • OMG! You are hilarious with this review but you expressed so many of my own thoughts back when I read this book. I just read an ARC of A Perfect Blood and I love Trent even more. Rachel & Trent!!

  • @roving3 OmG seriously!!!!!! I CAN NOT WAIT I LOVE THEM!!

  • I Love it when i see people as passionate as i am about this !!!! Awesome rant !!!!

  • JENKS LOL LOVE HIM HE'S HILARIOUS

  • The whole Ivy/glen or Rachel/anyone but Trent and Ivy thing really piss me off. Kim is just beating around the bush. She doesnt want Trent and Rachel together cuz it moves to fast, if she puts Ivy and Rachel together she's afraid she'll loose some of her audience with her subliminal femslash xD

  • And in these books alot of them have occured in the span of only a few months, the lord of the rings was only 3 books and the timline amounted to years of time passing. Also ignore my earlier comment about it sounding like your saying Trench it took me a second to realize that you where doing that ridiculous name blending thing that people do when talking about two people in a relationship.

  • Pierce was her first love. She knew him for one night, yes a night when she was trying to summon back her dead father. He came to her at a time when she was a peak of emotional turmoil, his return brought all that back, and your using a poor example in my opinion of the amount of time she has spent developing her relationships with Ivy and trent 6 books is irrelevent, in writing the amount of time passage can either be a great amount of time or a small amount depending on how it is written.

  • And also I dunno if its just the sound quality or what but it sounds like your saying "trench" when your saying Trents name.

  • Second point. Yes Rachel tends to flip flop back and forth....but really who doesn't, many people sacrifice their personal codes of honor to survive or to protect the ones they love, doesn't mean that they give up their codes of ethics completely ie "I killed that mugger to protect my wife ,so I guess killing is ok". Also when Ivy drinks blood she doesn't kill the person she is feeding off of. The banshee was murdering innocent ppl

  • Loved your rant and have a few comments to make, do not take this as crassness I only hope to make some observations that maybe you hadn't considered.

It has been a constant point in the books that Rachel likes things that are bad and bad for her. Her attraction to Trent is just another example in a long line, just because she is attracted to his body doesn't mean that he is boyfriend material,he is a drug dealing murderer, that will kill anyone including Rachel to get what he wants.

  • I think you're in my head..... That's exactly how I felt when I read that book. You are hilarious. I loved the "cock blocker" line, that was great. I hope Rachel and Ivy get together.

  • Lol... Yr so funny... I really liked WWBC, but I still agree with all the WTFs. Totally makes no sense... but you make the series sound so Superbad! Ps did u like BMS? Excited about the new coverart for PD?

  • I'm still on the first book, and I have a library hold on the second one. Should I bother reading them if this book is such a dissapointment? Or is it worth it to read the good books in the series?

  • @TheNerdyCanuck Oh yes, please! The series is really good, this was just a filler book

  • @TheNerdyCanuck Yes! Read the series! It's an amazing series with amazing characters from an amazing writer! Plus I rather enjoyed this book.

  • I hope I get to see your review on BMS.

  • I totally agree with you on EVERYTHING. We saw more of Al in BMS but I thought that maybe him and rachel would have something. Then she goes and screws Pierce. WTH?!!! Pierce needs to die.

  • Okay I love the series too, but I can totally identify with what this girl is saying. And I must quote her "cock blocker number ****ing two." I loved that line. Also, I agree I don't ship Ravy, but it has been potentially building ever since Rachel and Ivy met. Trench all the way.

  • Kim has stated numerus times that the trent Rachel thing will not happen and if it does it will be a one night stand.

  • @skinflutey I am aware :) Not every shipper believes that her ship will be endgame, that however doesn't stop them from supporting it.

  • I know this video is like a year old but i still wanna add my little opinion anyways lol. i think this book is good because it may sort of forshadow the upcoming books but yeh i get what your saying it was pretty random. LOL and it was super sucky when Art was found dead and rachel and ivy couldnt kick ass....AND i personally think that Rachel and Al should just get together and make cute little demon babies. ^_^

  • i actually liked WWBC... lol. it was the ending that bugged me... couldn't wait to get to BMS...

  • Great Review lol. I love your music choice. Lacuna Coil is one of my favorite bands.

I want Trent + Rachel!! I'm annoyed by the Pierce thing too. I do not want Rachel + Ivy to happen. I wouldn't be upset by a Rachel + Al - that would be...interesting.

  • This series is amazing, except for this book.

  • I pretty much share ever single one of your damn sentiments. I'm a Trench shipper all the way.

Pierce needs to go as quickly as he just came, dammit!

Hoping the next book will be better.

  • Got my hands on an ARC through my work. Was grinning ear to ear when I felt the cover!

No spoilers, but as a Trent fan, I gotta say I was happy!

  • Really? :)

  • Yes

You'll love BMS more than WWBC. Promise.

    ;]

God, soooo happy. I get an ARC occasionally through the program at my job downtown, but getting to request BMS made my whole Christmas.

  • Omg! I am so excited. This is one of the few series that I don't like spoilers for, but I'm going to pre-order that book! I want it as soon as it comes.

  • You broght me to tears with "Cock Blocker number 2!" Hadn't thought of it that way, but you are so right!

  • That was hilarious! I completely agree with you. As much as I love this series, this book fell flat for me. I was really hoping for further development from ODW with Trent, Al, and the ever-after but this was almost a complete stasis of the overall story. I am also a fan of "Trench" and can't understand why Kim would give so much attention and detail to his character and his relationship with Rachel if there is no future there. She can't have her HEA with a character introduced last minute.

  • The banshee was a plot ending, that started in one of the earlier anthologies, was brought forward in the last anthology, and "put to bed" in the book! Never mind Al, for a moment, if you remember the new master vampire? Also, if you remember, the time "the two shared blood and were one", go back and read how AURAS come into play! Another vampire from anthology, now "done-in"!

  • I know where it was from, but I think that how it was brought in was stupid, it shouldn't have been such a big plot point, it should have been about Kristen's murder.

  • Now I am starting to like you because you r making more sense you have to admit that kim harrison is one of the most creative writers around which is your fav book so far?????

  • I do believe she is one of the best out there. My favorite book? Hard to say, but I think I'd put book 3 as my favorite

  • You are so manic my goodness calm down I think you should read the book again and fully envelope the spectrum of the book..... Glenn and Ivy together you sound stupid they were working together there isn't a hint of interest between them she was looking out for one of Rache's friends who had a weak unstable aurua and needed some back up after his father sent him out there....Rache isn't going to get with Pierce and you know that

  • I know she isn't going to be with Pierce, but the whole thing was just a waste of time. I read the book and I see what she is trying to do, but I feel that it was a weak transition from the last book. You are free to disagree and yes, I know I sound like a maniac, but I think that from the title that was clear. lol

  • It's Trent. Not Trench! Where was Keasley? Ceri is like way pregos and she was bearly mentioned. AL!!! Rachel and Al... no way! Al is my fav but not together... NEVER. It was still WAY better than "Fistful of Charms". I thought Fistful was gonna be cool with the weres and all but I couldn't wait for that book to be done. It's gonna be 11 or 12 book series. So we're just past half way. I just started "Holidays Are Hell" where Pierce is introed only about 100 pgs.

  • I know its trent. Trench is the ship name for rachel and trent

  • I just finished reading the book and I have to say... I really thought that it was going to be all about Big Al. I mean, last book left me with the impression that it was going to be ALL about Al and not about Kisten's murder, let alone that stupid banshee plot. Now I have to wait for the next book. Al's part in the book was basically as a side character, as if he was just barely introduced.

  • what about jenks?! hes my favorite character in the book. i was so sad when he got honey drunk and kept apologizing to matalina.

im also all for rachel and trent getting together or rachel and al!! either way, i agree with you!! have her hook up with one of the people she's been building a bond on--not some new guy just thrown in!

  • Though your a trench shipper and I'm a ravy shipper, I totally agree on everything and I mean EVERYTHING you said.

You took the words right out of my mouth! Haha

  • Doesn't matter if we are Trench or Ravy that book was RANDOM!!!!

    Death to pierce!!!

    J/k

    But really..he has to go

  • I guess I won't be reading this book!

Have you read the Wither series. Someone gave me the first book.

I need a good read LOL

  • YES! I TOTALLY AGREE! lol There was waaay too much filler in WWBC. When we finally get back to the main plot, you know...who killed Kisten...THEY'RE ALREADY DEAD. I was like WTF KH? I felt like Rachel took two steps back in WWBC. Just when you think she's grown up she still ends up pating over andything with a penis because she's to chicken to admit she's GAY for Rachel. Ivy/Glenn & Ivy/David = WTH? I'm done with this series (Imeaning I'll borrow) till I see more progress.

  • total agreement. too much random FILLER that seems like it's just there to stretch the books out and make the contract number of books sold to the publisher. Love the first books so much, but the lrecent ones seem overly artificial and trying to show how much Rachel isn't gay by having her hot for every male that passes in two feet of her. And Ivy, giddy school girl crushes on a guy who isn't interested? David the Werewolf? So stupid. Just a way to try and make Ivy less "gay". Shakes head

  • I know right.

  • I agree. This book threw me off completely. I actually started to dislike the characters at this book. They annoyed the hell out of me.

  • have you read the Mortal Instruments? That last book, City of Glass, was possibly the best teen novel I have read.

  • lol! I love your rants, Melina. :D
