004 Briggs 5 hp Rev-up staged exhaust

nothing on the crankshaft? couldnt that cause a kickback? I have te briggs sprint 375 and im afraid to start it cuz its got nothing on the crankshaft.

but yeah you shouldn't rev it unless it has a load on the shaft.

I almost built another taco that would hold a briggs 5 hp instead of the Green LIL Indian but am more than glad now I built the LIL Indian,,The yellow taco would have only had to be about 2 inchs taller and a inch or so longer to have handled a 5 hp briggs,,almost un-noticable size difference,,,I like the taco myself and its amazing how all the guys I know like it better than all the rest like you do,,it is cute .

@seriesioo374 The best way is to run the light completely seperate from the engine's coil. Buy a small battery that goes to a pocketbike, and a light (or take the electronic assembly from a pocketbike) and call it a day. Im not sure how to hook it up exactly, but thats what you need.

2: how do I get the gas tank off?

i have that same e-zac moter for my mini bike and somtimes mine would start then wen it do i i would ride it for awhile then it will start poppin out the muffler wat should i check first if u know

That could be leaking valves or overheating. Try to do a valve lapping job first.

Yeah, My crankshaft was siezed to the block. I just hammered it out, sanded and polished them both. These are COOL engines man !!!! Never liked the Carb & Tank setup though.

I don't own a clutch right now, but this engine has a 3/4" keyed PTO Shaft.

Actually, I bought this engine in early November of last year. I payed $63.11 shipped to my door, but this engine was listed as siezed & I bought it for the parts anyways. I got lucky and it was the cranksahft that was siezed and not the piston.

Mine is a 135232. You can measure the shaft with a ruler. Their are only three sizes, 1" 3/4", & 5/8". Their are two different size chains used with those clutches, #35 & #41. Chain #35 is the most commonly used with go carts & minibikes.

i own two 5hp that have been on everything you can think of.

and i just got done working on one i bought for 10bucks runs fine clean as can be and it came with no carb.tank.pipe. but i am have SERIOUS ISSUE with the face plat is identical to yours and the little plastic grabbers that engage when the string is pulled mine tends to stay out i have tryed grease newer ones and on top of that when i pull it over it makes horrible noises with the face plate on...clearance issue..

Yeah !!! On my first minibike I built when I was 13, My brother used it without asking. He brought it back with a hole in the gas tank from kicking dirt and rocks off the back tire.

Oh Yeah !!!! I cried in front of my Dad because the motor was brand new. My Dad paid for a new Gas Tank and they only had the silver grey colored ones.

I am building another minibike with this motor because I miss my old ones.

That is an Exhaust pipe I got from ebay for about $15.00. Thats more than I wanted to pay, but it is a "4 Stage RLV Header" and is suppose to increase performance at high rpms. They go for about $50.00 new.

awesoem engine.. very robust. I am going to rebuild my 5hp engine .. sat out in the rain for about 4 years. What king of uil must i use? Regular syntetic motor il will do? Because it has oil already in it .. but i'm going to wirebrush all the engine , cnage valves .. and it would be just wrong to start it with old used oil. I'm just 15 years old but i just love taking engines apart and restoring them :D I will run it on methanol or nitro ... nothing hard for such a fool-proof engine :D

I use SAE 30W oil(Regular Mineral Oil).

You should run this for the first 2 hours. Then you can switch to a synthetic oil: 5w-30 or 10w-30.

I think it's a RLV 4 Stage Header.

It's used on Racing Go karts.

I got it cheap because its got surface rust.

I would say I rev it from 4000 to 5000 rpms.

drill and thread a hole in the end of the pipe, so a spark plug will fit in, then hook up the kill wires to when you hit the kill switch it reroutes the spark to the plug in the end of the pipe. thats what i've heard at least, i've never done it though, but i know any engine will shoot flames.
