great version. Roger started it real slow but the band picked it up when they entered. Too bad, I would have liked to hear a slow groove version of this song.
this version of money is the same as found on bootleg called " tour 72 " with picture of some piggies on frontside of cover.. since i have had this twice on vinyl twice in my life.. im nearly 100 % sure of this..
@MaceMn I take it that you are Schmizlica's lover then because you are sticking up for him so vehemently. There is no difference apart from a slight volume difference not quality. So is this how modern Floyd fans are. Incoherent idiots who can;t string decent comments together to make a real debate. It is so sad that all you can do is resort to juvenile insults, It used to be that Floyd fans were intelligent and clever then again you are probably the one exception to the rule there's always one
@OrpheusIsThe1 Society is changing, the way people insult is different to how it was 40 years ago. In my humble opinion, Music for the intelligent people nowadays, lies under the stereotype of Classical music such as Mozart and so on. However there are some cretins who dont know the difference between a screwdriver and a toothbrush, and therefore can't appreciate this fine work of art. Many young people, such as myself, being in my late teens, absolutely love Pink Floyd and it wont change at all
@fatgingerzac The way people insult is different because society in general has been dumbed down to cater for the morons. Pink Floyd changed dramatically and this era of Floyd I find dreary, self absorbed and humourless. I much prefer the work up to Atom Heart Mother as it reyains a sense of humour and inventiveness that is sadly lacking in subsequent material. Especially the wall onwards. They started to resort to nothing more than mash ups of previous works with virtually nothing new in them.
@OrpheusIsThe1 I think that's slightly harsh... Dark Side Of the Moon is the 3rd best selling album of all time, so it has extreme significance in the way music has shaped itself. I agree it lacks humour, but makes up for it, in the fact it is spine tingling and mind blowing in every degree, The wall, is, i think, their best work, but in my influences music wise, this is very high up. Roger Waters, wrote and played on this album because he wanted to express his deep feelings in a unique way.
@luvthefloyd1 i suppose you love adelle as well then cz she has been in the charts for ages now HA HA just cz something has been in the charts for ages doesn't make it good it just means that a whole bunch of mindless moronic SHEEPLE have fallen for the sad hype once again and bought it all/ TWAT
any one who dosnt liek this version is preatty dumb due to the fact that this is an early rare version of the song they were all on acid obviously, and its a live recording if anyone can do better please post a video of it, if not the SHUT THE FUCK UP!
@HIMTV101 they were obviously NOT on acid. pink floyd was not even a huge drug oriented band that was more of the fans. and they only tried acid a few times, they wernt gonna use it during a tour so stop pulling random bulllshit facts out of ur ass
Syd Barret was well known for his LSD usage. Probably what made him leave the band. Just read and/ore read some of his stuff. In the 80s Gilmour had some troubles with drugs as well. Although you are more or less right. Pink Floyd wasn't in the whole drug scene as other bands at the time were.
@ROFLmao35216 no i know all about syd barrett iv read many books about pink floyd and the band (other than syd) only took LSD a few times. they were very professional so they wud not be trippin on stage. they might have had been stoned a few times but it was the early 70's. what can u say
Apparently Roger thought that this version was too "prissy and english" so they changed it up to be more jazzy on the album. I agree though, this version is really raw. It's pretty sick.

They did a similar version, same slower bass line opening, at the Hollywood Bowl in 1972. Saw them again in 1975 in LA and they f'n nailed it. 4th row at the Sports Arena. Lucky me. Best LIVE band that ever graced the earth. Ah, maybe Tool. Nah, Floyd, nah, Tool, Nah,...
do yous know how barret went insane in the 1st place? the group thought it would be funny to drop acid in his coffee every other morning without him knowing and it led to his leaving the band... crazy huh
Syd Barret died in 2006. Pink Floyd were no longer performing anything new. You wanted to say "when Syd Barret left the band" or "when Syd Barret gone insane"
To back up DavidGilmour73, Pink Floyd was first considered space rock back at the UFO Center. Shortly after with TPATGOD (The Piper at the Gates of Dawn), they were categorized mainly as psychedelic rock with Syd Barret's odd, but amazing style of music playing.
Once Syd Barret died (RIP), they changed their overall style of music from psychedelic and space rock to progressive rock, with some "hints of psychedelic rock" still in some of their later music.
It's a common misconception that he died earlier than that due to his reputation with drugs. He has a few albums of his own which are pretty out there, and he was an artist. He did something very interesting with his paintings though... Once he finished painting the piece, he would simply give it a final look, and then destroy it. I hear there are a few paintings of his still in existence. What I would give to own one! =p
yeah, i mean, i'm 17. i hate metal, unless it's softer metal, like metallica style (any stage of metallica) but all the screaming i can't stand for. i never listened to Floyd till recently, and they're amazing. mainly sheep, money, great gig in the sky, and a couple others' dragged me in. but it's amazing man! not just abunch of talentless 'shredding' and screaming. =) they knew the right scales to use, and don't care about faster playing, because it originally came from the heart not the mind.
no kiddin' . .I was in the music store the other day and this one dude; all he wanted to do was crunch and then squealie; . . LAME and all this shredding??!!?? play real fast . .good; play real slow . . good; play well no matter what speed. . the best! Hi Bob. sorry to hear that you're broke. I'm sure you could sell one of your wrinkly old kidneys for a few quid, or get those slapper daughters of yours down doing some pay per view live naked mud-wrestling. Better still just fake your own death, have a facelift and live of the ol' life insurance you twat!
When I saw them in concert, the cash sounds at the beginning went AROUND the stadium, in quad sound..AMAZING!!! This was one of the BEST songs they did in that concert..(Momentary Lapse of Reason, unfortunately without Waters)..but, hey: I DID see The Floyd!
can anyone tell me why gilmours guitar sounds so much meaner and heavier then the one he uses now??? i love his guitar in this. is it the style he is just playing in 1973 or was it a different guitar he is just playing now in 2009 ????? all i know is that gilmour is indeed a guitar god, just like roger is a lyrical and bass god!!!
well, the guitar he is currently using was the one he had since 1970, so its the same guitar. what makes it more meaner sounding is the pedals he was using. Back in the day (early 70s) he was using fuzz which makes it sound meanier and raunchier. Nowadays hes using Tube Drivers which produce a much warmer sound. :)
Generally the same setup, just a bit more rawness to it I suppose. Strat through a Hiwatt is still the same, Gilmour used Fuzz Faces back in the day wheras he's switched over to Big Muffs and has been since 1977 or so. plus, well, he's older now, a bit more self restraint in his style, plus the audiences are generally more polite now. you could say there's no reason to be so aggessive in his playing. Change in style, basically.
I have to agree: Back int he day, Floyd, like Kiss and AC/DC were considered "hard rock"..but today, they are much more appreciated by those of us who are older, not only by the artist, but by the listener. Floyd is moreso appreciated today than they were back then, and AC/DC and Kiss are as well...but there is NO comparison between Floyd and AC/DC nad Kiss, if you know what I mean..entirely different styles.
What the fuck are you talking about? Pink Floyd was never considered "hard rock!" They were originally considered psychedelic rock then progressive rock. Floyd is more so appreciated today than they were back then? After Dark Side Of The Moon, Pink Floyd were pretty goddamn popular and they were appreciated well before that! It's dumbfounding that you would ever compare Pink Floyd to Kiss. You fail!!
this is incredible. for some reason i feel like this is what i would hear if i heard pink floyd in some small club or something. I dunno its so raw like FORESTDONS said.
omg i never thought there was this magical moment of money. This is raw and the best ever version i heard of money.can anyone tell me if this rare edition is on any cd?
Also, I have been trying to get this bootleg for 5 years. If anyone has any information as to exact dates, and venues for this show I would appreciate it. I know nothing about it other then the version I have is incomplete with almost no information about it.
This is the best version of money ever recorded, period. I Love it, its raw, dirty and mean. Gilmour nails it here, absolutely nails it, this is a gem.
@pokedatwithastick070 Dave: "Hey Roger- It's Dave. Nick and I would love to reunite and tour. You in?" Roger: "No because my massive ego lead me to show no respect for wither of you two. Imma go play the Wall with a bunch of musicians that are no where near the orginal."

You fail!!

Thanks for the feedback. I'll get right to work on picking up my base "McMunchy". Don't know where I'd be without you.

Hey there, this is Bob Geldof. Any more roles coming up? Maybe we can do a Floyd/Rat tour. I could use the dough, how 'bout you?

@pokedatwithastick070 Dave: "Hey Roger- It's Dave. Nick and I would love to reunite and tour. You in?" Roger: "No because my massive ego lead me to show no respect for wither of you two. Imma go play the Wall with a bunch of musicians that are no where near the orginal."
SamTalmadge 1 year ago
@SamTalmadge except that roger wants david on the wall and davids the one that doesn't want to play on it
achedd 1 year ago
@achedd Yah but I mean like on of their older tours. Not just a roger waters creation with Nick and gilmour backing up.
SamTalmadge 1 year ago
@SamTalmadge yeah but its not like gilmour or mason have offered to play a tour with him gilmour especially is so against touring with pink floyd
