  • Dont you have any more of those songs from that same album?

  • most trinidadians dont like soca but jump on the band wagon and sing a pile of shit! and you telling me about change! change yeah it change for the damn worst. look around almost every genre of music pretty much sucks check rap of the day! it cant touch rap of the 90s check the substance and lyrics of this song beats the hell out of palance! bunji garlin and shal and all the rest of jackass who spend the whole life listening dub and jump on the so called soca band wagon singing a set of bull!!!

  • @clintmack28 90% of soca music record yearly are not played! Are you aware that there is about 30 stations here and only about 4 plays soca music? Are you aware that every year at our Independence celebrations 100% shows are Jamaican? Are you aware that there is no year round Calypso Tent? Reggea & Dub came to these shores in your generation, Bunji and them are doing the music that your generation approved, they only added dub to soca, now you are old and cannot keep up with de pace! I am 47!

  • @Quelvisv i am not old mr i am actually 28 going on 29 you proved my point! the reason soca is in such poor taste in my view is because of what you just identified! we dont accept soca in its pure form we have to mix it like bunji and all the rest! this my brother is soca in its pure form and how it should be represented. some creativity is needed and before i die some person will prove me right

  • @clintmack28 my first daughter is 25 and she is a Police. Please do not knock these your artists because logic will dictate that they will return to their roots. Bunji was one of those artists that used to imitate being a Jamaica but he got a rude awakening I think in Jamaica when he was booed for being a Jamaican! Here in T&T the same people that were entrusted to uplift and promote our culture are the same ones that are killing de art!

  • @clintmack28 Couldn't have said it better. Change is one thing but degenerating is another. soca is dead. The people pretending to be soca artistes now have no clue what soca music really is; they have been weened on dub and hip hop and are stealing the soca forum to make their hustle. Trinidadians are self loathers, and hate their own artforms; where is rapso? Big dsconnect between the old stuff and the new, the new guys simply have no knowledge of what the classics are. Blame radio

  • alot of the so called soca stars dont sing nothing close to this! they forget this is what soca sounds like to hell with bunji garlin and them djs jw and blaze

  • @clintmack28 Howbeit you are so disrespectfool? You are old and evidently finished school too early. Let's try a little logic and somehow try to stretch you thinking capacity other than when you are chewing gum. The future of anything is always in the hands of the young for it is them that will take it into the future, do you understand the point that I am so desperately trying to show you? In life nothing is constant everything changes, basically the only thing that is constant is change!

  • @Quelvisv a man makes a valid contribution and you in turn finds it fit to insult him! take a listen to this song it is by far better than most soca of the days! soca has lost its identity and why is that it has to change to be accepted by the rest of the world yet after years and years besides macheal montano there is no soca artiste who have made it real big! hence the reason why soca will always be for a season! i will have you know i am well educated in a good job and still educating myself

  • @clintmack28 your contribution was not valid, you said, to hell with Bunji and dem! As a well educated person in a good job and still educating yourself, shouldn't you be an intelligent person, own your company and enlightening others? Well boss if you feel education =intelligence and a good job =success. I will have you know that there are plenty very well educated idiots out there. Bunji and many others records about 4 songs every year and if you only hear one don't blame Bunji!

  • @ Habtin. I believe Maestro had a style of his own and any similarity is just coincidence! Plus I hope yuh realise this recording by Maestro was done in 1976!

What year did St. Kitts Ellie Matt and the Gi's Brass start as a band and what recordings do you have from them before 76 that is done is this style that you claim Maestro has copied? Please upload a couple with the year they were recorded, thanks!

  • Great composer... says so much in so few words....Amazing.

    A maestro indeed.

Over 32 years since he passed but still sounding as fresh as ever.

    R.I P Maestro

  • @SUPEREASZY1 "says so much in so few words".....so true!!

  • thanks to the individuals for posting these special memories !!!!!!!! Blessings

  • i Love Maestro but he gont this tempo and Style From St. Kitts Ellie Matt and the Gi's Brass

  • Let's not get insular now. unfounded comments like that cannot take away the greatness of the legend. I'm Antiguan and I could say he got Short Shirt's tempo but I know there was no one like Maestro at the time.

  • @habtin what is your basis for saying this? i'm interested here........

  • The great Maestro was beyond his years. I'll never forget couple weeks after lent season the year Maestro dropped this one Rennie B started his show-- I distinctly remember at 1:00 pm-- with this tune. Big up Rennie, you never forgot your culture. Nice post.

  • Hey Scorpio! Thank you so much for this post!
