Think of it this way, get a 14 second car and add say 150 horsepower... now your running low 12/high 11s. Add another 100 and your just into the 10s. Add another 200-300 and you might see 9s, see where this is going?

The more power you make, the more power you need to add to make a difference.

Says whom? Nelson racing has a Chevy TT motor at the 1900hp range. I saw another 2000hp corvette but do not know the builder, I only saw the dyno sheet. The Ford GT is a great platform to build on, but people seem to be forgetting the all rounder car just because other cars are more popular now. Look at the ability of the Viper. Pick a category in performance, and a Viper is at the top or near it in all of them.

7 second drag cars, 240+mph s-mile cars, top 5 stock Ring time, etc

Sure Corvettes have stages. LS motors are easy to squeeze power out of. And you can get an LSX with 700hp that is naturally aspirated. They have a 2500hp or so limit. Look into the design of the LSX motor.

Last year the ART Viper hit 240mph. I wouldn't call that falling behind. And you can get used Vipers for 35-45k. Underground Racing Stage 1 TT kit, motor mods plus custom TT for 55k, so 90k car+mods (GTR Base price) you can have an 1100rwhp Viper. (1300rwhp on C16)

@Curveball LOL, well the new Corvette C8 is switching to a Mid engine twin turbo V6 buddy. So is the new 2013 M3 going back to 6cyl twin turbo with a stock 500bhp. Theres a reason the boosted 6 cylnder is going mainstream! Nobody can control 2500hp with 2 wheels all the way up to 280mph... the 6cyl supra had 2000bhp that ran the texas mile and broke records.. only other record breakers are the ford gt, and the lambo. No other could perform as well.

A Viper ran 240mph. A Camaro SS ran 244mph.....just 2mph slower than SW's record Supra. And SW's Supra was 1300hp, not 2000hp. The C7-C8 Corvette stuff is still just rumor mill. I seriously doubt they will go to a V6 unless it's a base model car. Corvette has a serious purist following. They want front engine, V-8, RWD. The USA started the V-6 turbo in a car. The 1962 Chevrolet Corvair Monza Spyder was the first mass produced Turbo V-6 if I recall correctly.

no contest. Not sure why the Vette guy is screaming. He got pulled hard. This Lambo is a beast. 169MPH traps in the 1/4, 250MPH standing mile run. Best TT Vette I have read about is LPE's and that went 226MPH in the standing mile. Vettes are great bang for the buck but 1500HP is just another level. Need a TT Viper, Big single Supra or TT Ford GT to hang at the big big speeds.

@westy44cal Don't believe SW's Gallardo ever ran 250 in the standing mile. This vette is built for the 1/4 mile I believe, running low 9's with a half ass rolling off start trapping 155. And i may be mistaken now but the only Gallardo to trap 169 was Nicks, not SW's though both are black rides, sure SW's could do it though. This race would be closer if the vette wasn't in FULL street trim with the street exhaust even, as well as not using that automatic, seems to hold it back.

The gallardo has to my knowledge two maps, with pump gas and race gas, and that night he is on pump gas, then he put down 1000rwhp (+ -) and with race gas has almost 1600rwhp (+-).
