All cars need tough side, rear and roof structure, as these are points with little or no crumple zones. As for SUVs and pickup trucks, I think they should be designed differently. They could easely be designed to be safer for other users of the road by making them lighter and with a lower front end(also softer front, like a car), because if you drive a normal car, and hit a truck, you are screwed.
@ThePantyDroper Go to an auto wrecker and that tells you the story. All the f150s in the junkyards that have been wrecked shows that the driver would not be crushed. I seen a brand new toyota truck that was rolled, and the whole roof was the same level as the steering wheel, and seen a chevy truck bent like a banana! When you can actually look inside of vehicles, it also tells you the story. Seen a chev van that the engine went 3 ft into the cab!!!
@nonamejoe56 I'm not a stranger to accidents. A guy driving an F150 drifted into my lane and hit me head on. I was driving a 96 jetta. My car was crushed like a tin can. I'm lucky to be alive as the engine burst into flames mins after I got out. He was driving an old school early 90's ford. Only a dent in his number. After that I bought a 2011 F150. Don't want to take any chances again.
I saw some pretty nasty wrecks at the salvage yard when I went to see my car. Scary stuff.
these crash tests are the reason my car insurance is so low on my 2010 f150....youd think they wouldve used a lower trim level model to crash test but hey i didnt pay for it
@mavennes it's a new feature that ford put on their cars and trucks back in 2009 in an event of a crash the alarm system automaticly comes on to alaert other cars around them.
i feel safer now.... =)

is the trucks alarm on
mavennes 1 year ago
@mavennes I think so... Often the alarms activate during a side impact test
gbruno01 1 year ago 4
@gbruno01 Why don't they just cut out the horn.. it's not like it'll make any significant impact on the test.
