God I love this scene, right after it shows the flashback of "I really have to tell you something." around...3:50, 4:00...and then you see Robo lose his cool the first time. And the way Peter Wellers moves, then looks around and down at the screen... OMG...it could very well be my favorite scene in the movie.
the very first violent film i watched as a kid, 11 12, was shocked by murphy's death, this track listening to now, reminds me of my innocence and that you can never go back, just like murphy/robocop, with his family etc this film will always remain in my heart, it has a humanity style element to it, a heart and soul film , as well as a good action one.
Yes a really memorable cue. Does the start belong to the scene where Robocop is dreaming about his death? Someone once said that only Goldsmith & Poledouris were capable of scoring these kind of movies and I can't think of an obvious choice to score a remake, if it's in the same style as the original movie. Personally I dread to think of what the graphic violence level will be like twenty years on if the same approach is taken. It would be hard to match the flair of the original.
That's the thing: It won't match the same approach but can probably make almost as good a style.
There's some good movie composers like Brian Tyler, Clint Mansell and even Sean Callery who does the music for T.V.'s "24" (which Peter Weller guest-starred on once).
Anyway, while the first two composers movies usually aren't very good movies, they're scores are brilliant and almost as good as Goldsmith/ Poledouris if not as good
@SeanConnery9000 Ima have to disagree with you, because I just know how brilliant Poledouris was. Listen to Conan the Barbarian. Those scores are incredible & the soundtrack for that movie is considered one of the best if not the best originally scored soundtrack of all time.
I know the composers you are speaking, but I don't put them in the same league as Poledouris.
Also as far as TV composers go, Christopher Beck was brilliant & actually paved the way for TV music. Song: "Close Your Eyes"
@SeanConnery9000 basil is a real composer, not a bit-part-special effect -sound effect "composer"(i call the musical technicians),like david arnold.and i expect "tv"composers today are of the ADD-mtv-short music types today.these composers are nowhere near the john barry, elmer bernstein,s of epic fame.
Oh yeah, Murphy/Robocop's return to the family estate is probably my fave scene.
Great moment. Ah, good question! I'm not sure if they have even a director yet, but I haven't heard about the composer. If not Basil, I hope some of his tracks turn up.
Since last I heard Darren Aronfsky was attached to at least produce hopefully, they'll make a solid choice.
2:43 - 3:12 Beautiful! Very emotional. A great film, THAT DOESN'T NEED A REMAKE!!!

This is the song that plays when Robocop goes back to his house that's up for sale, right?

Always loved this theme. Calm yet menacing and sinister.

"Calm, yet menacing & sinister.".; The picture of Robocop in this YouTube video. Look at the pain on his face.

Poledouris might be more epic I'll admit that but it's tough for me to choose who was the best film composer

Wait! I have it!
John Powell. He has done epic scores for films like Bourne Identity films, X-MEN: The Last Stand and even ice Age.
Trust me, listen to his scores. They are great!

It's the one track that I instantly knew where it was in the movie...pretty much the pivotal scene really. Any word on who is scoring the remake?

hate to break it to ya...but Basil is dead for 3 years now

Oh that's a shame I didn't know. Still his themes may still be used in the upcoming Robocop film. I would hope so.
They certainly own the rights to them.
