Turn lead into gold You have so many beautiful things to live again You will see the end of the tunnel To draw a rainbow sky And the lilacs bloom again You have so many beautiful things in front of you Even if I watch another bank Whatever you do, whatever happens to you I am with you as before Even if you go adrift The state of grace, the forces Return faster than you think In the space that links heaven and earth Lies the greatest mystery As the dawn mist veiling
For those who do not speak French, English excuse me for this "primary" So many beautiful things Even if I have to let go of your hand Without being able to tell you "tomorrow" Nothing ever will defeat our links Even if I must go further Cut the bridges, change trains Love is stronger than the grief The love that makes our hearts beat Will sublimate the pain
Merci Francoise , c'est une merveille . Des paroles magnifiques portées par une musique parfaite pour ton texte . Une véritable perle de la chanson Francaise . Encore merci à toi
Thank you for uploading this marvellous song! But could you please correct the title of the song ? It's Tant (without "e") de Belles Choses. And the french channel is not Canal 1 but Canal+. Thank you !
Thanks God, she is not American, and she has dignity, and does not need all the American fakeand plastic alterations. Watch Cheer videos better or all those crappy American. Elle est sublime.
MICKEWDS That is an awful statement you have there. Suggesting she should do this or that to be georgeous, do you hand your mother a statement like that! very sad just step back and realy look at what you posted ! It's like a complement with a slap in the face. You would be better off to say nothing.
It would be interesting to read her autobiography though. I don't read or speak French unfortunately. Humanism is okay so long asit is on the up and up and doesn't devolve into Nazi eugenics. I wouldn't suspect that at all of Francoise though. That's why I like her 'Traume' homage to Marlene Dietrich.
Hmmmm....my definition of humanism was pretty vague so just read up on it on wikipedia. Can't agree with certain aspects described there, but overall not entirely opposed to the concept.
Hopefully her autobiography itself will be less difficult to translate than the ambiguous title she chose for it (roughly translated: "Bagatelle - in fact, a park near to Paris, including an old majestic tree, from the eighteenth century, nicknamed as " monkees' despair", maybe because of its huge trunk- ...and other love affairs")
Sorry if I did add to confusion. The genuine undertitle of her recently published autobiography (she wrote herself, of course) would be "Monkeys' despair and other frivolities". I know, it won't help too much !
it's called a monkey puzzle tree in english. we had one growing at our school. Trust the French to call them Despair of the monkeys, sounds like a Satre essay!
Not sure what to make of this one. It's definitely good, but it's spiritual in such a way that it probably holds more appeal to, as mentioned a month ago, Pink Floyd fans. Her videos sometimes include a desription of Francoise being an astrologer. I try and overlook spiritual differences since my beliefs are ambiguous enough it's quite difficult to find anyone with the same beliefs. But astrology hasn't held an appeal for me, and this song seems influenced in that manner.
In her newly published autobiography (strangely entitled "Le désespoir des singes et autres bagatelles"), she -unsurprisingly- addresses, in her humanistic way, such difficult questions as euthanasia and death...
I don't speak French, so rely on rough internet language translation. The lyrics provided do sound beautiful and uplifting (as Amanzi1 pointed out). Love is stronger than death came through, if that is the right translation. Very, very nice. Thank you.
Well, I doubt it. She has never performed live in more than 30 years (few exceptions) . She said that, when Jane Birkin first made concerts, she, Françoise, went to see how she would manage and was astonished by what she heard. Still, she considers she has not a powerful voice and thinks she should remain a recording artist. Even this video was lip synch. She was live a few years ago in Taratata, a french TV show where lip synch is forbidden. Her return on stage would be a sensation, though.

There are so many beautiful things you do not know
The blind faith that the mountains
The white spring in your soul
Think about it when you fall asleep
Love is stronger than death
In time that links heaven and earth
Hides the glorious mysteries
Think about it when you fall asleep
Love is stronger than death

She is still so beautiful. She should dye her hair and get her teeth whitened and she would be georgeous.

Okay...here's what I found on a search, amongst French paragraphs:
_________________________________ "Le désespoir des singes.... et autres bagatelles"
"The despair of the monkeys..... and other stuffs"
(the despair of the monkeys is a tree she loves - it is full of thorns I suppose that's the reason why it is the despair of the monkeys.....
___________________________________
That helps to explain it some. But so far unable to find an English version of her autobiography.
Azorka82 3 years ago
Great !
As to the "other stuffs", let's wait for the english version, if any...

This is quite excellent. It brings Pink Floyd to mind. I was never a fan of theirs, but this is a great performance.

brillent she is so good, but she was always a good singer in the sixties.
Why has she never perfomed in the uk?
Bazag
barriegould 3 years ago
@barriegould
She did perform in the UK in the sixties,
mainly at the cabaret of the Savoy Hotel,
in 65, 66 and 68, and in UK Universities
but she decided to stop performing live
in 68, and kept her vow, except for a few
times when she was invited by Julien Clerc,
for instance. She thinks her voice is not
powerful enough... Too bad for us!
