  • you are correct-played properly sometimes they have the fight of a salmon at anytime of year.

  • This is fishing for Black salmon (fish that overwinter in the river). Notice how thin and emaciated they are; these are fish that are actually looking to feed because they spent the whole winter in the river instead of returning to the ocean. You can catch a pile of them, but the fight is nothing like catching a fresh salmon. The fishing style is much different too.

  • i beleive they fight differently but equally as hard. I have done both several times and its apples or oranges.

    in fact some leap out of the water like in the fall, though they are thinner they still have huge power!
