  • great demo! badass guitaring!

  • @boltsandblades

    Thanks!

  • Pantera becoming

  • Che merda..

  • jack white is the king of whammy pedal

  • @petebmx90 and tom morello

  • @jpisgangsta dont forget matt bellamy!

  • What model Ibanez is tht?

  • I have a problem which i need an answer to! If I push down on my heal a little to hard on this pedal, the sound goes out of tune! I've done the calibrating thing to get it back to normal and that works most of the time, but it gradually goes back to the out of tune state! This pedal is amazing and I love it so can someone please help me with my problem!

  • @Izlivz I had some trouble with mine the first night i had it but then i realised that there were 2 rubber pads on the underside of the rocking plate. I popped those off and everything was good. Hope this helps.

  • Strange, as soon as I saw those shoes I thought he was going to jam a bosa nova or some smooth jazz. Who would've thought metal... Not me.

  • @Danzig6718

    LOL!

Those were the most metal looking running shoes I could get at Foot locker...basic black.

  • does it work good when you play complete chords using the -1octave mode, or does it sound funny?

    please reply :)

  • isnt brian carrol buckethead?

  • so does a whammy bar make your guitar sound like your playing a half step down tunning while your acctualy play standard ? or what does it do ?

  • @slashrocks000 no, the whammy BAR is the little metal... well bar a guitar with a floating bridge has, it's used to do things like 2"dive bombs" or "screamings"

this PEDAL could be used for that, i'm actually looking for one to use it for that

  • Knowone has said that he is good ! HE IS VERY VERY GOOD !!!

  • @waveripper00001 see trey for clarification. LOL

  • i need wana those :O

  • cannnn i use a whammy pedal in metal guitar playing?

  • @Cheeseheadedbeanboy

Of Course---I'm doing it in this video, and Dimebag from Pantera did it like crazy from The Far Beyond Driven Cd and until his demise.

  • @sonicbondage oh ok cool. is the "Detune" effect what some ppl call the "delay effect"? and i thought that Dimebag used his whammy bar most of the time for divebombs. xD

  • @Cheeseheadedbeanboy no its a chorus like effect.

  • @sonicbondage or.... is it better if i get a guitar with Whammy Bar and use that with a pedal sometimes? are they a good combo?

  • @Cheeseheadedbeanboy

    Both is the best option!

The pedal is an effect that doesn't sound as real as using an actual whammy pedal.

But at the same time, you can't pull notes 2 octaves like the pedal does.

  • @Cheeseheadedbeanboy dude listen to 'Becoming" by Pantera from the Far Beyond Driven album.

not only does it use the whammy pedal for the main riff, but he does getcha pulls and uses the pedal at the same time. check it out

  • @sonicbondage and with Damage Plan, which actually drove me to start looking at them.

  • @Cheeseheadedbeanboy its what RATM uses and they are a "metal" band it depends on what style you want and what sound your looking for its good to make solos stand out when your sound guy doesnt know when to turn you up

  • @PoeticRenegade ratm is not metal

  • heres something someone didn't state yet. but hasn't anyone realize that 0:28 - 0:34 and from 0:56 - 1:03 sounds like the tom morello battle, But this was added 2 years before the tom morello battle off of GH3? Explain that!

  • nice fuckin shoes, man.

  • @renzolikescheez thats what i said. Bad ass Nike Air Max...... :P

  • dude that is fuckin sickkkkkkkkkkk

  • tom morello is the god of those

  • cool video man. Im half tempted to buy one, the actual WH seems like its alot better than my gsp 2101's whammy setting.

  • @waveripper00001 Depends, sometimes you can really create something awesome with metal and this pedal. The bands Daughters (experimental metal) for example uses such a pedal all the time. Creating psychotic riffs with high pitched dissonant chords.

  • nice whammy pedal demo...

  • man that left handed freak can play

  • Hey what setting where you using on yours?

  • at first i thought the wah and the whammy pedal are the same LOL. forgive me im just a beginner xD

  • hail all leftys!

  • I think if it is for a amp with midi inplug! but i'm not quiet sure.... I've also ordered a whammy, I think I get it the next day! and you rock man!!!

  • awsome!

  • I like what Dimebag did with it, Vai and Satch are geniuses with it. Tom Morello is the first guy to use it on Killing in the name of...

as for me, I was just going apes as i never tried one until using it here.

I still haven't found a real use for it in my songwriting. for now my wah pedal gets all the action.

  • @sonicbondage Also Herman Li owns it when he uses the pedal on his solos. Oh wait, whats that? Here comes the thumbs down and the responses saying "ZOMG WTF harmon ree sux live, he's n awful guitarrists, sunata arctica is better daslkdn00bjasj" Oh well, nevermind...

  • Ya Bellamy uses it in New Born and other bit parts in songs (solo for Hysteria for instance). Just got mine and love it and midi option. And this is a cool video, good work all around.

  • @BigBeanerProd

What can you do with the MIDI?

I've only just plugged in and used it like a regular pedal.

  • @BigBeanerProd matt doesnt use the whammy pedal for the solo in hysteria... he has a echo , but ive never heard him use it for the solo

  • Some people just can't help it, you come off as a total douche in this video... Nice playing though, decent enough demo.

  • I was just being entertaining...dare I say funny!

But seeing as the word "douche" is used so frequently in the last few years...thanks "Family Guy" I'll take no offense Ya Douche! lol

  • my man, that is the BEST fucking demo of the WH-4 ive seen so far.

  • what's the riff at the very beginning from?

  • I was mostly just improvising...unless it sounded like Dimebag then I was imitating. lol

  • i lived in buffalo ny before i moved to florida

  • My wife did too before we hitched up and moved to Cali. I was an import from Niagara Falls Canada. lol

  • I want one so bad.

  • Nice shoes!

  • lol the amount of people that comment that in wah and whammy vids. its hilarious!

  • nice i really want one to try a new style of playing, how much did it cost?

  • $200 new, but eBay could save you some bucks on a used one.

Of course you can buy mine for $1,000 since it's mint and has Joe Satriani's personal signature on it! ;)

I got backstage on his last tour and had him sign it. Since then it's been sitting in the box. lol

  • I have one on Ebay almost brand new with a starting price of 0.99 and no reserve, just click on my Jem90th anniversary model and check my other listings.Wisdomisbetter213z is my Ebay name.Let me know what you think.

  • I can't find you on eBay using a cut and paste of your user name or by using Jem90th anniversary model.

Maybe you should post the item #

  • For all you believers:

This really is not Buckethead's picking style.

  • brian carrol line 2 -AKA Buckethead xD-

  • haha yea i was just gonna put that

  • Thats some crazy shit.

  • I bet you could find some on ebay. The are Nike Max basketball sneaks, maybe Aaron could help ya out on this.

  • You guys are funny!

I have two pairs of those shoes.

AIR MAX FORCE - Size 10. lol

  • lol had those on gray!

  • You watch this and worry about sneakers? How stupid.

At 8 seconds when he's stepping on a cat, they call Buckethead up to line 2. :)

  • omg they do too! lol what a coincedence

  • 6:43

    WTF.

    is that even legal? lol

  • wat do u mean O-o

  • sooo frickin awesome, it cant be allowed xD

  • you shred something mean, mate.

    pentatonic scales?

  • at my local guitar center they have the pedal too high up to use your foot.

  • Those douches. lol

I had my leg up over two feet in the air to reach the rack too, so it sucked for me too.

  • at my guitar center all the foot pedals r on the floor rack so its super esay lolol

  • Hey dude.... you wanna give me what picking exercises you used before your picking got THAT good?

  • Learn some Steve Vai, John Petrucci and other shredders. If you need a book/DVD the Troy Stetina Speed Mechanics for Lead Guitar is a good breakdown of all the different types of picking. If you are up for a crazy difficult picking instructional, check out the Frank Gambale Sweep Picking stuff. I walked away from that BC it was too hard for me. lol

I mostly play by ear, but I do go through all the Guitar World guitar columns and pick up interesting new ideas that way.

  • omg!! brian carrol!! lol hes on tha fone!!

  • In the beginning they say brian carroll...isn't that buckethead's real name? O_o Lol, so random.

  • Haha yeah Brian Caroll is Bucket's name :P

  • Very good. Very Rage-against-the-machinish :P

  • wow your good lol. I wish there was shops like that near I stay. A shop full of guitars, pedals and stuff who let you try them out before you buy them :(

  • you must've looked such douches taking videos in a guitar store :D worth it though

  • LOL...Guitar Center can blame YouTube!

But wait a minute, I'm helping them sell whammy pedals, so maybe I should get a check cut! lol

  • Did that say Brian Carrol line one? You edited that in as a Buckethead reference didn't you... well you sure do him well. Some of this sounded like it belonged on his album Kalidoscalp.

  • That's funny about the Brian Carrol on the PA, but it was authentic and happened while my buddy was filming me.

Though I have seen about 100 or more mentions of it here, and that got me to thinking I should try and add a secret thing in other videos for kicks. lol

Well I have done so recently. :)

  • sounds like tom morello!

  • yeah he uses it A LOt its his most used pedal cept he uses the original

  • if only all the bums that walked into guitar center played like this

  • haha, cood comment

  • FINALLY a good Whammy demo

    thanks

Just curious, how long have you been playing guitar for?

  • Thanks for the kind comment. I've been playing for 20 years. But that video was the first time I ever touched a Whammy Pedal. I bought one there at the GC and later I had Joe Satriani sign it here in LA! :)

  • Shackler's Revenge on crack.

  • Buckethead played the guitar for that song. He uses that pedal actually.

  • You're a crazy good wanker (compliment) you are my hero I'm buying this pedal Saturday at Guitar Center of course.

  • Enjoy your wanking man!

Try and get them to knock $20 off. It worked for me...or maybe he was doing that to get me to shut up. lol

  • Haha I'll try.

  • What song is that riff at 0:38 from?

  • It's one of my crazy things. lol

  • Did the guy on the PA say "Brian Carrol, line 2"? Buckethead is on line 2?

  • parkersvx90210: I might be worried now.

  • Hey does a whammy pedal like that one from digitech for example effect your sound settings or is it just for dive bombs and stuff like that?? because i have a spider valve king 112 tubeamp and i don't want to screw my sound when i connect a whammy pedal :P

  • if you use the modeling on that amp, you're probably bypassing the tubes anyway. I have heard the whammy pedal has a very loud bypass.

  • lol i love it :) nothing like making a good godam noise

  • Hey I have a question what octave should I put this pedal at?

Because I really wanna nail the Zero solo from the smashing pumpkins.

  • I have no clue what he is using. It sounds like a harmonizer and he's just making random chaotic noises.

My guess would be to try a setting that pitched it up 1 octave but kept the original pitch too...or a harmony setting.

  • I usually put mine at 1 octave higher.

  • The solo on the record uses a harmonizer, I think a whammy as well.

BUT LIVE, James Iha plays it with the whammy.

    Probably one octave higher.

  • it hurts my eyes to wqatch this at some points......are u breaking the sound barrer yet?

  • I love how they were calling buckethead to the phone XD

  • the title made my day

  • does the pedal stay in place if you press it down all the way

  • Yep!

There's no spring so it stays where you leave it.

  • Though I haven't really played mine long enough to break it in.

I hope it stays put or I'll be tightening up the bolts or adding washers.

  • "Brian Carroll line 2"

Gee, I had no idea Buckethead worked at a music shop. lmao ^_^

  • lol, brian carroll

  • Oh man mines coming in tomorrow!!!!!!!! I cant wait. Thanks for posting. You made helped me my final decision

  • Bryan Carroll? Line 2? :| Buckety one?

  • hey dude the guy in your profile picture is that how you look now ? :) \m/

    Bunghole30 \m/

  • Actually my hair is one length now. I let it grow out. I should change the picture, but the YouTube size limit for a pic is gay and I have to edit a pic to make it that low res.

    Cool Buckethead Icon Pic!

  • probably soo annoying for people that dont appreciate this

  • It is a little annoying even to me too. lol

  • dude. ive commented countless times on ur skillz. i swear, u totally have to post some video lessons, tips, techniques, advice etc. it would make everyone who gave this vid over 150 000 view so happy. honsetly, plz?!?!?! even just post a link to a tab u wrote out for riffs, licks, etc. THNXXXXX

  • I did make a tab in PDF for my PETRUCCIFEVER GUITAR SOLO CONTEST VIDEO if you are interested. I'd have to email it though.

As for my longer improvised material, I wouldn't dare try and sit down and tab it out...that would be an insanely long process. lol

I've comtemplated making lessons, but I need to make money when using up large amounts of my time or make music to try and sell later on. Youtube keeps a poor man poor if he gives everything away for free :)

I'm very glad to have you as a fan

  • Soon I'll be posting a new video of my improvising at Guitar Center in Las Vegas...where we vacationed for Christmas. I normally try and play some guitar on my trips in music stores as I don't travel with a guitar anymore, as the airline ruined a guitar case the one time I tried that! ;)

  • Dude i love the part from 0:38 to 1:00 thats sick ! , lol :) i bought the pedal for x-mas cant wait to try it out ! \m/

    Bunghole30

  • Thanks man!

The pedal is a blast to play. Of course I've not really recorded with it in any songs yet. lol

  • this would be a good advertisement for the pedal^^

  • I know! :) I've even contacted them too, but they haven't given me a response.

My guess is they have no reason to acknowledge a guy giving free publicity to them if they don't have to.

  • holy shit brian carrol!!! BUCKETHEAD!!

  • Hey sonicbondage :) Dude When They Said Brian Carroll Line 2 Where They Referring to Buckethead? Cause Brian Carroll Is His Real Name :)

    Bunghole30 \m/

  • I highly doubt it as I was in Tonawanda, NY and I think Buckethead is out in LA.

I did hear GC employees say they call each other over the pa using aliases so maybe that's what it was. I can't imagine him needing to work a sales job. lol

  • I think they said Ryan Carroll.

  • "whammy pedal wankage" lol. how much does this cost.

  • It's $200 online Free Shipping or at any Guitar Center or Sam Ash for the same price plus Tax. Word of advice! Grind the tax off on them and walk out the door with it for $200 total! It worked for me :)

  • 3:22 save me by damageplan

  • Thanks Man!

It was stuck in my head from hearing it on the PA there at the store, but it was before I actually bought the CD. I'd probably embarrass myself if I compared the 2 side by side. lol

    I miss Dime! \m/

  • it would be cool to like put two of those together put both of them 2 octives up

  • Try it...my guess is it would blow out the ears of dogs and birds for miles. lol

  • or , the same thing in reverse. but the bar down all the way, play, put one down, and then put ANOTHER one down.

  • this is INSANE!!

  • how long did it take you to get that goos how much practice man thats bad ass playing

  • I used to play 3 to 4 hours everyday from 16 to 21, then I tapered off and spend that a week on the guitar. I'm guessing 4 to 5 years of practicing should get a person in this ballpark if they are a quick learner and don't give up.

  • wait a fucking second, brian carrol line 2, thats bucketheads real name

  • great now i want one. the start is just like crazy horses by the osmands

  • Nice Nikes... Nice playing too.

  • lol!

I hate those shoes (too hot to wear)...I have no idea why my buddy spent so much time on them, but I guess he thought the pedal was cooler than my playing. :)

  • Part of Dimebag's equipment! This is a must-buy, amazing pedal.

  • "wankage" is right hahaa.

Great video though. Thanks for uploading

  • wow ur really good

  • Thanks!

  • At the begining the guy says Brian Carrol Thats buckethead's real name

  • is it always so whiny and squeaky, or is that because of the amp?

  • It is pretty squeaky and whiny like you said.

I think it's just the fact that the frequencies are up an octave or two, and from a MHz theory it gets into MunchkinLand Tones! lol

  • is this good for covering rage and doing really good long solos?

  • YES! It's Great for RAGE, VAI, SATCH, DIMEBAG, BUCKETHEAD, and a million other bands that have used it to some degree in their songs as they are using this pedal for the most part...as for long solos...That's What most of my Video is! lol

  • you could use that pedal instead of pinched harmonics =D

  • lol when you sped up the video i was like "So thats Dragonforce's secret..."

If Eddie Van Halen got this he would've dominated the world

  • What amp are you using?

  • It's a Marshall Practice Amp with a 10" Speaker. I know it sounds way huge, but the video Camera mic must have just picked it up real good.

  • At 2:59 you catch a glimse of the amp in the lower left corner!

  • and 6:10 to 6:20

    Hope that helps!

  • nice sound:D

  • at the beginning someone says Brian Carrol line 2.... isnt that bucketheads real name?

  • yeah it is lmao...wow

  • yes it is it got me thinking too

  • i swore some guy was gonna come up beind you and say "Stop hogging the whammy". Lol

  • That would have been funny and I would have used that in the video. lol

  • lol on top of all that you make more noise than a room full of tom morello and vai enthusiest's lol...hey ll you san francisco vids...do you live there and if u do did you see satriani when he went there?

  • hi just a little question wich one is better or wich one you prefer this whammy pedal or a trem guitar...wich sound better

  • They both can do things that the other can't so when in doubt have both. lol

Real whammy systems sound more authentic, but the whammy pedal is wilder sounding.

  • hey with the whammy pedal i ahev bought one and the power supply i got does not fit concidering it is american have you got any suggestions? like a converter or something please help man i have had it for like 2 weeks and it is just sitting there and i want to use it

  • Man that sucks...youtube lost my comment. I posted a link for you yesterday. I dug it up by searching for A FEMALE USA to MALE Australian Adapter. Just search it out. It'll run your probably $10 bucks...maybe less?

  • thanks that is sick i will look into that and i cantr wait ..it is just so annoying i have had it for a while i look at it and mess around with it, it looks so awesome and i have heard everyone play one but me lol so i cant wait till i get mine working ..when i play it lol i plan to try make the world implode..so i cant wait

  • completly different things dude

  • thats awesome, u shud play some dragonforce with it =p

  • so this degitech pedal makes you sound like tom morello!!!!!!!

  • That's like saying anyone that uses a Wah-Wah Pedal Sounds like Jimi Hendrix. lol

I agree Tom got out there in the mainstream using the pedal first (Killing in the Name of), but my Whammy Pedal influences are DimeBag Darrell, Joe Satriani and Steve Vai.

You know it's a fun pedal, but I've yet to actually use the effect in any of my actual songs...maybe in fear that it would make the song dependant on the effect. I still love to go apes on the guitar and have fun with it.

  • hey i need some help i bought a digitech whammy and i got the ac adaptor but it does not fit my power point because i am in australia...could you give me some help...so basicly i have the power supply adaptor but it will not fit my power point?..could you please help would apreaciate it lots
